4/12/16 I Just pulled in to pick up my new 2016 Excel catfish pro 21 and heard my phone ringing. Looked down to see a Kentucky number coming up on the caller ID and assumed it was someone from Monster Rod holders (I had just put in a order a couple days prior and I wanted to add a couple of brackets to my order) and sure enough it was, and to my surprise it was Mr. Steve Douglas himself. At the expense of sounding like a teenager girl at a Justin Beiber concert, to say the least I was floored. I couldn't believe I was talking to the Catfish Master I had watched for months and months on KZbin. He called me himself to make sure I got what I needed on my order and I wouldn't have had he not have called. First rate guy, first rate product! Couldn't be happier. Thanks again Steve

Nothing wrong with having a non human fishin buddy. My 20lb Westie goes with me most of the time. About 4 yrs ago, I cut off a gold Aberdeen crappie size hook, that had a small shad on for bait. As I was getting a tangle out of my line, my canine companion snatched up that shad(with hook) . The outing promptly ended, found a vet , x-ray showed the hook. The next day Kid took a long nap, & woke up with some stitches in his gut & my wallet, over $700 lighter. Worth every penny. Still got my fishin buddy. Thanks Steve, for being a genuine guy, I'm glad to be a fan.

Good to see you are back in business Steve! On the sound coming from the left speaker only, your stereo mic may not have been plugged all the way in so only the tip & sleeve was making contact and not the ring as well. It takes all three for stereo. What is the background music? It is great!

Glad you're back, Steve. The kitten part was pretty sweet. I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. Thanks. Had an incident last night I bet you can relate to. I went to get a small channel cat out of the livewell, going to throw it back, and ended up with a horn stuck in my hand about as deep as it could go. 5 minutes later my hand was all swelled up, and my ring and little fingers were numb. I'd rank it as my 2nd worst sting, and about #4 on my all time pain list. Think I'll be a little more careful next time.

Great vids! I can anchor perfectly straight...I use a scope of 4:1 (rode length to bottom depth) on the rode, and that does the trick. Get the rode super tight, and have a buoy on both ropes about a boat-length from the boat. Yes, I use heavy anchors. With near to a 1:1 scope, my boat swings way too much. Keep catting!

Love the video! Great information but I have one question for you. Why is not having any current a problem for holding the boat straight on anchor? I always feel it is much easier to hold spot without current. Just curious to the issue.

@SteveDouglastheCatfishDude8 жыл бұрын

+Steve Douglas The Catfish Dude thanks steve i just got a boat and im trying to make it my mission to catch a flathead, ive caught pretty big blues and nice sized channel cats in our brackish water so i supposed the flats must be around. Can anyone elaborate on why he says it's hard to keep the boat straight in still water? That seems backwards. How would you hold better in current as compared to still water?
@SteveDouglastheCatfishDude8 жыл бұрын
the current keeps tension on the boat at all times keeping the boat straight with your lines but in still water 1 anchor is near impossible to use and keep your boat straight as other boats come by making waves throws the anchored boat back and forth, even the wind will blow the boat back and forth causing your lines to pull from where you put them and what worse is when the boat returns to where you wanted it you have 20 foot of slack line. thats why its best to double anchor to keep the boat from swaying.
@MrDaryboy8 жыл бұрын
Steve Douglas The Catfish Dude I see, so you recommend single anchor in current? Just curious to this cause I got a new boat and am struggling keeping tight lines
@SteveDouglastheCatfishDude8 жыл бұрын
