Really enjoyed the video, gives a pretty good depiction of what it’s actually like being on the boat doing boating stuff instead of being on vacation touring here there and everywhere.

Yes, you are right! The days we stop and stay in place do feel more relaxed though. We are hoping as we move south we can linger more in cool places.

Good video, viewer got to see all the trials that are involved in the loop. A good time for a haul out so you planned that well. Weather will get nicer and the best is enjoy where you are and take a break when you need, it.

Your night video turned out really good! It's amazing how those Tows just keep going during the night. I was too sleepy to stay awake and worry about them but enjoyed anchoring behind islands much better😅

Once the first one went by I was good. Went right to bed. I agree though, anchoring behind islands is much quieter.

“Lightning” from Noank, CT at 20:38 is one nice and sturdy looking boat. I wonder what make/model?

The folks aboard are pretty great too. It's two sisters and their husbands on this boat. It's a 50 foot Ocean Alexander Classico.

What a great video. Full healing on your foot. You must have been so happy to get to Mobile you did break dancing out on the bow of the boat, and broke your foot. Just kidding. Probably good to be in warmer weather also. Really enjoyed the information talk at the Bollard in the lock. See you next time.

I wish I could remember how the foot was broken! It just started hurting and then the x-rays showed two breaks. I've been really impatient wearing the boot. My walking has been severely curtailed. It's now been four weeks and I'm trying to go boot free today. Thanks for watching and see you next time! (I saw what you did there, that was awesome!) 😀

It broke my heart when you thought a drip was more important than your man’s sleep. Through out this entire video he looks like he needs some recovery time. I really hate being negative in someone comment section. I know sometimes the full story doesn’t come across in a video so take this with a grain of salt.

When anchored in the river do you anchor bow & stern so as not to swing out into the channel ? (Planning for my trip come spring )
@gothatawaychrisandsandra11 ай бұрын
We've only stern anchored in Bashi Creek. Mostly there is enough current where we've been anchored not to need the stern anchor. However as you find local resources you will see recommendations for both at certain spots.

Can you post the cost per foot at the marinas …would be helpful for estimating the loop $ …thanks
@gothatawaychrisandsandra11 ай бұрын
Down the rivers cost per foot has varied from $1 per foot - at state parks - to $2 per foot...it starts to creep up as you reach the Gulf. We are now seeing $2 to $2.75 per foot. Scipio Creek in Apalachicola was $3 per foot plus $25 per day for power. I've heard that Carrabelle Marinas are charging around $3.50. It is $3 here at Clearwater Harbor Marina but that includes power and the facilities are very good. It's only going to increase as we head south! I'll try to remember to start mentioning vost per foot in upcoming videos. We plan to anchor more from this point forward

So why such long cruising days? Could you not just do a few hours each day and anchor up anywhere you want more frequently between going into marinas and just take it easy?
@gothatawaychrisandsandra11 ай бұрын
Yes we had the option of anchoring a bit more. There were all those boats coming down the rivers from Chicago after the three repaired locks opened so for the first bit, at least to the Ohio, we were asked to move every day so marinas and anchorages didn't get too overwhelmed. I had meetings during the week and getting in to marinas for showers occasionally was important to me. Once we hit Mobile we really slowed down. In a normal year I don't think we'd feel a bit of the pressure to move as fast as we did down the rivers.
