Gene was a MASTER at choreographing for his partners. Frank, the darling, was only capable of so much, so Gene thought up flashy, quick, but technically relatively simple numbers to accommodate him. Comparing this to the routines he put together with Donald O'Connor in Singin' in the Rain? Miles apart, but damn Frank looks good here, don't he?

Remember when people used to sing like this? I enjoy today's variety because it adds diversity but there is such a charm and skill when it came to singing from the 40's.

I was a weird little girl I loved Gene Kelly and Elvis to the amusement of my mother and grandmother, annoyance of my brother and straight hatred of the rest of the family...I stll love them😁

This ballroom converted to a dormitory is exactly how the Louisville Service Men's Club looked in 1954. I spent a few Saturday nights there rather than take the free bus back to Fort Knox at 8pm. For 25cents you got a cot for the night and a hot breakfast on Sunday Morning.

Always have loved Gene Kelly even since I was a kid and watched Singing in the Rain at my grandparents’ house. He is very handsome, charismatic and one of my favorite dancers. But there’s definitely something to be said for Frank Sinatra’s cheekbones and jawline in the thumbnail tho!

by 1955 10 years after this Sinatra’s singing voice didn’t sound like that anymore

Yeah, his voice started to change in 1946. By 1948 he was about half way to his iconic voice of the capital years. If you listen to his final years with Columbia records 1951-1952, he pretty much sounds the same as he did in 1953-1955 In my opinion, it was a gradual vocal decline. Perhaps caused by smoking, drinking etc... He had much more precision, control with a flawless vibrato, bigger range etc during the early years. I would say he was at his peak between 1942-1945...

@ honestly, I kind of prefer the 1950 Sinatra voice because he’s not obviously trying to sound like Bing Crosby at that point
