Oops, my bad on those stuck barons, haha. The MP monster placements are continuing to surprise me... it's been a long time. Not much else to say about this one, other than that I love the midi, and I really like the kinetic feeling of jumping across the map from the starting platform towards the exit door. Also, no 666 or 667 tag -- after Valiant, I've pretty much sworn them off because anything I do will just invite comparisons to MAP07 of Valiant.

Smart choice, really. Not using the typical map-specific tags makes the level blend in more than with just the "it's map07" crew (Mancubian Candidate included), and it doesn't stand out functionally from the rest of the episode. Any idea why the barons were in DOOR STUCK! mode?

I feel like I'm alone in this but it really starts to get to me after a while especially when it gets extra flowery if you know what I mean. Think I'd prefer a more ambient ost but hey I came up on PS1 Doom so anything less than a slightly distressing drone is a bit much for me, Doom-wise 😅

@@DuckAlertBeats I can definitely respect that. When people think of Doom, they think of hard-hitting metal and/or industrial, mixed with some atmospheric, suspenseful slow burn tracks. For me, I think Stewboy's music works so well *because* it feels somewhat out of place. It matches well with the somewhat out-of-place color schemes of most of AA's maps, not to mention it's very well composed. Remember when all anyone made was brown/green/gray techbase and red/brown/gray/fireblu hellscape? But I hear you all the same. For me, a few tracks have some high notes that approach shrill (including this track, even though I really enjoy it). I have to assume you love Doom 64's OST (me too)

This song seems to be another case of a MIDI fitting better here than in its original WAD. To me, the song somehow manages to carry the vertical theme this level has going on with it. Quite the quantity of extra reptilians this time, too!

I think you have mastered the format now. UVmax is much more interesting to me than just making it to the exit. And a jumpcut to where you died is a good compromise. Only downside is it’s a lot of work for you off camera. Probably not practical for maps where you die 20+ times.

In regular Doom/Doom 2 I never worry about a cacodemon. In mods Cacodemons are dreadful when someone knows they're going to be a nuisance to deal with during a main fight

Banging tune in this level that combined with the combat and level design yeah really enjoyable though I never found the way to the final teleporter to kill the mancubus and get the supercharge I killed the mancubus of course just not the intended way I guess. I did die a few times on this level though mainly because of carelessness and getting ahead of myself I think I was just enjoying the tune too much lol. I'm sure there is more cacodemons in this I know there was a few already in this level but it seems like a few more have been added so I'll be curious to see how many more demon's are added in the end as I've said before I'm deliberately writing the comments before seeing your look at doom builder it's actually quite fun trying to work out what's new having recently played through this I've still got good memory of each level anyway with that as always cheers for upload decino

This map is vibing on it's multi settings as it's got a bit of everything. It's got tomato airspace, dancing barons, and of course many archviles handle it.

The stuck barons are clearly standing on some invisible linedefs. If those are marked as monster-blocking, that would explain why they are stuck.

If Sinkhole Showdown is a difficulty spike, Dare To Fly, Where Eagles Soar is a spike in overall energy. It's very Valiant-like in how much it favors verticality and promotes zipping around everywhere through teleporters, stairs and lifts. Nice vicious little traps, too, you better not drop down or ride up into confined sections of the map without proper hardware! Unless you're playing continuous, then by all means plasma away, though it makes most of the fights - that are calibrated for the rocket launcher - feel flat. It's a pistol start I highly recommend. And again, shoutout to stew. Featherfall is energetic, intense, with big "platforming game" vibes, while still light-hearted and melodic.

The only thing I can think of for the stuck barons is the sector(?) lines they're standing over caused an issue -- there's nothing visually there in the 3d mode, but decino basically mouses over one of the offending lines before dropping into that mode trying to figure it out. I'm no doom map maker, but that's my guess.

First. Yay! Now when the video is watched properly, I came up with a question - Is all AA maps made within the same visual/architectural style? Or after map 7 we may see different textures, skyboxes, decorations and et cetera? That baron fight may not look too epic, but well, after watching your playthroughs for like couple of years it just screams "Escape death with not too much room for maneuver". Not Emerald Spire with its horde of heckknights, but kinda reminds me of it. Dang it, now I want to see this wad with new dehacked monsters.
