One of the bits I am curious about is why The Master's heavily loyal servant (the german dude) WANTS to be the next Vessel of the Master. It has been shown a couple times where he thought he would become the next vessel and upon discovering he wouldn't, he became severely distraught.

I love how the designs of these vampires are heavily based on the appearance of Nosferatu/Count Orlock, the first Dracula in cinema. Also, this quote by Orlock perfectly represents the disturbing nature of the creatures of the Strain: "Death is a horrible thing. But there are things even more horrible than death..."

Hey! Biology student here, fun fact about Loam is that it is a soil classification that is about 40% sand, 40% silt, and 20% clay and contains large amounts of organic material. It is also the ideal soil texture for growing crops. This plays into the idea that The Loam used by the master is most likely the soil where Ozryels throat was and the soil The Master grew from since The Loam would have had large amounts of organic material “Ozryels throat”, and was perfect for growing a crop “The Master”. Just kind of a neat fact I thought would be interesting to share

Yup, I consumed ( pun intended ) the trilogy during the lockdown. The first book completely engulfed me, the second kept the suspense going and the third had it's moments but the storyline was coming to an end and you can pretty much tell what was going to happen, so I didn't enjoy it quite as much but that's just personal preference. And as tense as they were, there were still several laugh-out-loud moments ( me laughing ) between the characters.

@@billbixby557 I was pretty much the same. The whole scientific approach that the first book had drew me in cos I'd never really read something that tackled vampires like that. Then Quinlan's story and finding out the origins of the vampires was what kept me reading. I found the 3rd book the weakest, but at that stage I had read 2 books of this story I wasn't going to just drop it and not read the end.

The reason for the Seal of Haagenti being on the Occido Lumen has to do with the Kabalistic tradition of "True Name" magic associated with King Solomon, who was said to have used magic to take command of Demons and spirits to do his bidding. Demons and Angels are effectively the same kind of entity, but split along ideological lines ( The War of Heaven ). The power of "True Names" goes back to the biblical story of Genesis. In Genisis, humans could speak the Holy Tongue ( something that was taken from them after the fall of the Tower of Babel, resulting in all the different languages humanity ends up speaking ). Speaking the True Name of a spiritual being in the Holy Tongue allowed Solomon to manipulate them according to his will. This is also why in the 10 Commandments it's written not to take the name of God ( also called the Tetragramaton ) in vein, because it invokes him. SOOOO, with the vampires being composed the parts of Ozryel, they are technically Angelic / Demonic in nature and subject to the same Kabalistic / Solomonic magics as demons from the Key of Solomon.

The Strain is one of my favorite book trilogies and I love most of the show. I have a lot of gripes with how they handled some characters, namely Nora, because after Fet, she is my favorite. So I was really upset by that. First season though, gold. Absolute gold. Del Toro really does have a wonderful way of creating lore and backstories that could fit so easily into our world, and I love it. I'm sad the religious/divine aspects of the whole thing was pushed to the side by the end of the tv series, I still love it and I still rewatch it frequently. This was a wonderful deep dive!

Maybe the reason the demon's seal is in the book is because the knowledge, or some of it, in the book was given by a demon as a way to get rid of the angel/vampire on earth so that the demons wouldn't have any competition on earth. ANOTHER EXCELLENT VIDEO MY FRIEND! THANK YOU FOR THE WORK AND PRIDE YOU OBVIOUSLY DO AND HAVE WHEN MAKING THESE VIDS!. ONE CAN TELL THAT YOU ARE PASSIONATE ABOUT THE SUBJECT MATTER, AS IT SHOWS THROUGHOUT THE POST. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE!! AND ON THAT NOTE, MIGHT I OFFER YOU A SUGGESTION OR TWO? YOU SHOULD LOOK UP THE RUSSIAN HORROR/FANTASY MOVIES "DAY WATCH" & "NIGHT WATCH ", BOTH HAVE AGENCIES OF LIGHT AND DARK HOLDING EACH OTHER IN CHECK AND KEEPING THE BALANCE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL. THERE ARE GOOD / BAD VAMPIRES, WITCHES, MONSTERS, WEREWOLVES, FAERIES, ETC. A GREAT 2 MOVIES,.... there was supposed to be a third that was in a wrap them all up and be the ending but it never got made and last I checked there wasn't anything about it happening so that's extremely sad. In the last movie you should check out his got Ron Perlman in it it's from the early 90s it's called the Mutant Chronicles. It's a slightly futuristic yet kind of Steampunk post-apocalyptic world where companies own armies and instead of countries fighting Wars companies fight Wars and pay their soldiers instead of jobs we are professional Soldier and that's your day job anyway there's an ancient machine that's been buried like thousands thousands of years before and the devil supposedly made it and it turns people into these vampire like demon conglomerations anyway two companies are fighting and they end up having a battle over this thing steel to the door door and they end up breaking the seal and these things get out and yeah you need to see the movie it's freaking sick! it it's a cult classic in my opinion, people know about it but it didn't really get like a huge release, and ended up going to DVD very quickly and that was the end of that. But I own it I love it and anybody who have ever shown it to has loved it but check it out like I said it's got Ron Perlman in it for that reason alone you should watch it! LOL

Absolutely terrible, and I hated watching every minute he was on screen and hoped his character would just die already. Not because an awful character was portrayed well, like Joffrey from GOT, but because the actor was hot garbage. Some others for you to look into: Umbrage: A Vampire's Tale He Never Died The Dead Matter Chronos - You mentioned this one in this video Vampire in Brooklyn Werewolf: The Beast Among Us Rockula Ginger Snaps Trilogy - You might have done this one already From Dusk Till Dawn - Both the Movies (mainly 1 & 3) and the Series Lifeforce/Space Vampires - The movie and book are so different. Wishmaster series - something a bit different yet still fits the theme of your channel If I can remember some of the older ones I have seen I will add those as well.

I really liked this show, and always wondered about the backstory of the ancients. It would’ve been nice for them to explain it in the show itself.

One of my favorite series I also read the comics. The comics were amazing it goes really deep into the strigoi history and origins. Some characters were better portrayed in the show than the comics and vice versa.

I do love this portrayal of vampires. Similar in appearance to old school Easter European strigoi/vampyre/nosferatu/revenants.

This is one of those tv shows that I’d like to see have a well thought out reboot as a limited series in future. Something like an 8 part series, streamlined and well paced would be perfect

7 months late but I really enjoyed this series, so much that I bought the books and read them before the final series. Credit to GDT & Chuck Hogan to making vampires to be scary again. I also now always said "Strigoi" as David Breadley did.

Cooooogan Looollllliiiinnns!! Love the vids my man. Thanks for another awesome video and have always been interested in the ancients. I thought the Strain was a cool show and liked the differences than the norm. Quinlan is a dope character and one of my favorites in the show. Interesting that the fallen angel parts slowly turned into worms. I wondered if worms ate the angel parts to turn into what they did or if the parts turned into the red worms. Also curious if the worms sought out people or each were found by a host to then start their individual processes. Thanks for the video!!

Hard ch in archangel, hard g in Gah-mor-rah (in the beginning of the video). You put so much work into these videos, I don't want them tripped up by simple mispronunciations. Enjoyed it as always!

What i wouldn't give to see what Del Toro had in mind for the third Hellboy movie. I've read somewhere that the core ideia was circling around a fallen archangel locked in a cold war era soviet bunker. The way he ties his work with religion and historical events always captivated my curiosity. At this point it's very unlikely that movie will ever be made, but we can always wait to see what other ideas he has planned for future works.

Ikr? The first Hellboy was AMAZING….the Lovecraftian element was awesome. But the second one was kinda silly to me. I would love to see that fallen angel/Cold War hoodoo stuff.. Ron Perlman is way to old, but Dave Harbor did a good job

I much prefer the vampire lore of the novel "Let Me In," wherein the vampire's bite carries an infection which causes brain cells to grow around the heart. This new second brain allows the host to live on even if the host technically dies. This brain keeps the heart beating regardless, which makes breathing unnecessary. The other changes include a membrane, like that of a flying squirrel, which allows the vampire to glide short distances. The infection causes a sort of anemia, which explains the constant need for blood "transfusions." They aren't immortal, but they live very long lives because their metabolism is reduced to near zero. Strength, speed, night time vision and smell all are heightened. Sunlight causes a brutal thermogenic reaction that can end with spontaneous combustion. The infected in this version lead lonely, miserable lives. Most commit suicide by destroying their own hearts.

About worms... There are relatively slavic myth about people which concerning as evil wizards(original word "колдун") which also need keep any parts and creatures which may try to live body to kill them completely... I am not shure, but looks like it is common trope about many evil entities. Mean not only in slavic myths.

9:05 reminds me of the new camps tbh, this show is sooo good tbh, I didn’t know that these masters or archangels were the same ones I was taught in school like Gabriel and such. But it makes a lot of sense how a lot of people think angels are the good guys but they are but sometimes they are demons wanting blood I’m Catholic but this show makes a lot of sense
