I'm not sure Derek was a true Alpha. Remember, Derek already was an alpha once before and his alpha spark was never stolen, it was just used to heal his sister to the point that it had all but burned out. That power was never stolen, just diminished like a leftover coal in an old campfire. Its possible that his actions and will were enough to restore his power as an alpha rather than have him ascend as a true alpha, which is stated to be outright impossible according to the shows cannon..

​@@grantpflum6844 so Derek was never an Omega naturally( or Beta naturally) he took the life of innocent that "manifested" his werewolf genes(that's how he received his blue eyes) unlike his Uncle Pete Hale(was born with natural blue eyes through sheer will manifestation) however Peter will never gain true alpha status just like Deucalion cause they took "alpha status" away by weakening their alpha or killing their betas.. Taylia was the only one that was one with her spirit animal as the Grand Elder of the Pack(transforming into a real wolf) without doing any unnecessary killing or stealing..

The one thing I always hated about Teen Wolf is how come Peter is the only one with a proper Werewolf form? Everyone else either gets hairy, turns into just a wolf, or becomes a smoke demon.

Real reason, budget and time constraints. Lore reason, being more human is supposed to symbolize having more control over their powers and having both sides in balance. Still, even then its a shit reason. Every time we see the "out of control" beast form werewolves they are outright shown to be more powerful than the standard ones we see, making them look like a downgrade.

Also don't forget in one episode two werewolves were kept trapped in a bank vault that was made out of some weird stone for 3 months. It kept them away from the full moon. When both were released they not only looked more feral but their minds were a blend between wolf instincts and human intelligence.

Hecatolyte, and it was because Boyd and Cora weren't in contact with moonlight, which made them feral the minute scott and derek got in there and moonlight poured in. They looked very nervous in Isaacs flashbacks. So the probably felt it but werent able to be in contact with it.

The Nogitsuwolf was just an illusion that the Nogitsune made to intimidate Scott and his pack. Also Peters Alpha form was born through his bloodthirst and leaning too much into the wolf, plus after the fire he was a bit crazy which probably helped 😂 Teen Wolf is probably my favourite show in recent years and this video reminded me of why i like it so much so thank you for the great vid! 😁

The fact I love Teen Wolf lore so like I'm happy you did this and with this particular lore it's fascinating to me simply because when you look at it's a lot more odd like ok there are multiple ways to become a werewolf there are even 3 classifications but the thing is you can rise to one and fall right back down to another another cool thing is when you're really in tone with yourself you can evolve to a full wolf but that goes into a healthy balanced mindset while a more chaotic mindset will have you ending up like Peter or worse the beast but I love the showing in all werewolves here simply because we a lot of different quirks that part was always cool to me even the monster variants are different and not just one thing having them all their own brand of crazy like more than not it is about the mind like with the kanima and werejaguar the saying really does go the shape you take reflects the person you are which really shows threw all the people that have been bitten or the other werewolves, I also love the whole Argent/Silver thing that was cleaver, I also love the whole your pack is the found family which usually also shows Scott indeed has a lot of allies well pack and I feel like you are right electricity does take them down really easy and they and by proxy we all do call it a spark so it makes sense

Being a super fan of the show when it ran I gotta commend Jeff for still making good enough plots even though an actor would leave almost every season or 2.. I don't know who my favorite character is but Decaulion definitely has the 2 of the best lines. 1st is his Alpha speech when he cornered Derek. The 2nd is where he's about to face Jennifer and Derek. The alpha season(3b) is definitely the best season still

The overall lore of Teen Wolf is a bit messy and there's a fair amount of inconsistencies in the show, but I still really like that show. Just a few correction though. Obviously, spoilers below. - Omega are not "sometime in a pack", as they are simply Beta without the boost of being in one. They are lone wolf. - The "Alpha roar" also apply to non werewolves, as Style (a human) was able to hear and "feel" Scott's roar, and Scott's roar has empowered non-Werewolves before like Malia (werecoyote), Lydia (Banshee), and Kira (Kitsune). That being said, Scott is one of 2 True Alpha we saw in the show, and the only Alpha (whether regular or "True") with a pack formed with various species. It could very well be a unique trait to Scott. - The part where the "Alpha that bit you" are the only one that can bend Beta to their will is also not completely correct. While the "biter" has a special connection with the "bitten" that grant them unique perks, forcing a Beta to change can be done by any of them. Example of that is the clip used to showcase this in this video (Deucalion wasn't the one who turned Scott, yet forced the transformation on him). An injured Scott also has done a similar things to Isaac (Derek's Beta) as an Omega, but that could also be because he was in the process of becoming a True Alpha. - A bit of a technicality, but Derek becoming a True Alpha despite his blue eye is not really a retcon. Everything we know about True Alpha were explained as myths & legends, and with them being extremely rare (~1 every 100 years), Deaton was only speculating when explaining this to Scott. It was never explicitly said in the show that Scott wouldn't be able to become one if he killed someone (only speculated), just like it was never explicitly said what would happened if he took an innocent life after he became one. We also have no confirmation on how a True Alpha is truly different than a regular Alpha outside of the process to become one, and that only a True Alpha's Beta can take their powers. Even their strength is debatable as Scott (as a True Alpha) has been overpowered by Betas & Omegas in the show, but we also know he's always holding back to keep his humanity and character intact.

Honestly the biggest problem with teen wolf was them having to many supernatural creatures nd lores to dive into especially towards the later seasons that’s y the first 3 was so good bc yes they’re introducing new supernatural creatures such as kitsune and Omni but it was a whole season dedicated to them same thing with the kanima in season 2 and ofc season 1 was just a classic bc it wasn’t so much going on in those seasons. Where as u get to season 4,5,6 like u got the dreaddoctors the kitsunes the hell hound Lydia is just starting to develop her powers and then Kate and the beserkers it was just a lot which again I loved but it was a big problem nd y most of the loved characters had to be nerf bc of new introductions and such

Peter was born normal werewolf, hus wolf form happened after the fire as he leaned more towards the insanity and wolf inside him, it showed on the outside. Same with the demon wolf, he killed to get power so he became more and more crazy and it shifted his form

Lycant-like creatures were part of the old world, like in Egyptian mythology, Anubis, who had Lycant-like features, Cynocephaly relates to both Greek and Egyptian mythology, Penghou from the Chinese mythology, Set who refers also to Egyptian mythology, Jinmenken ("Human-Faced Dog") in Japanese legends, Adlet is a humanoid with dog legs in Inuit mythology, etc.

No, a giant-ass werewolf means that you are a serial killer or a psychopath. You lose control of yourself in that form unlike in your normal form. It also greatly reduces your intelligence in that form, so you can be easily defeated. Only a completely insane and out-of-control werewolf would be able to achieve that form.

They've explained in the show that "the shape of the shift reflect how the person see themselves" when they introduced how a werewolf bite could turn someone into a Kanima. That's why Peter had that form in season 1. He was driven insane because of his 5 years of coma, and his werewolf form reflected his hunger for revenge. That's also why Scott's werewolf form started to changed when his rage was taking over in season 6B, and why it reverted back to its usual state when he realized his lack of control was turning him into a monster. It was part of an hallucinations, but that's also why Scott's shadow was monstrous when he was afraid and couldn't properly use his abilities after he became an Alpha. He feared he'd loose control of his new powers and turn into Peter.

What pissed me off about these werewolves is that they could be physically overpowered by humans and other supernatural beings easily! (They kept getting their asses kicked again and again! Yes, you listed their abilities...but they I just remember them losing fight so often. The Kanima took on more than werewolf with ease. And the Berserkers were easily a match for them, if not more powerful. That isn't even going into how humans were shown to defeat them in combat easily too.) (Also, wasn't Lycaon's story 7000 years old?) I liked the Alpha Roar, being able to rally/inspire allies was cool. (It also should've terrified and routed enemies, or at least non-Werebeast enemies, though this was something that should've been extended (in some way) into other Werewolves.) I liked how they delved into more Werebeasts/Therianthropes yet didn't go as in-depth as they could've. The guy you described as a Werelion was a Löwenmensch, which is technically as you said a Lion-Man. In the show though, they described him as part wolf/part lion, as his were form looked like a werewolf rather than anything lion (given in contrast how a Werejaguar has spots). (I think the Beast's transformation was the best, or it should've been. Rather than just a pure physical change, a mystical change is what it should be. Their bodies become shadows and once done they take on their more wolfen forms.) (Sorry that I rant a lot about werewolves, they're just rarely ever done some justice in fiction.)

You forgot it also covers Native american lore (the Coyote variant), and central/south american (werejaguars). I would also imagine since there is a werelion that african beastman versions also exist, as could creatures like weretigers, snow leopard variants and who knows maybe norse bearman variants as well. One thing is common however most such creatures are often predatory. Hellhoumds also seem to be a werewolf variant. But then you have other supernaturals like the Banshee, could there also be other Fae-like beings. And what if Vampires in this world are more like were-bats than the undead?

I don't remember if it was ever stated, but I remember that when someone was bit by an alpha, the stock follow up was beta, but if the person carried certain characteristics before turning, they'd turn into a different creature. Jackson was a snake, so Kanima, Kate was brutal and calculating, making her into the jaguar, Ducalion was a normal alpha before he killed his entire pack. Being a vicious monster turned him into a vicious monster, ya know? Peter was special because he had no control in his vegetative state, he didn't really heal from the fire until far after his resurrection, if ever. He really was just a special case as far as the show ever said. But due to his lack of person, he was full beast, so the big scary wolf like season 1. And the fancy gadgets a lot of the alphas got seemed to be special, or at least quite rare. Each member of the alpha pack had something, for most of them they were original members, but in the case of when they come for Scott, they want him simply because he's a rare breed of werewolf, which makes him powerful and a valuable weapon/member. Also, the pack stuff has this weird little thing, basically, the wolves have this power to them, mystical energy whatever, but it's like their power multiplier, so yeah some are just stronger than the average like Liam, but it's said that when wolves join a pack, their power is increased both individually but also for each member of the pack. That's why Derek went so turn happy when he became an Alpha in season 2, and the more wolves to a pack the more power added to themselves, but also each member of the pack. The Alpha pack learned that if an alpha killed their turned beta, rather than having the power together and achievable, they could simply harness it. However, with the case of the Omega, they're completely alone, so there is no added power, plus no one to watch their back. It's usually a chosen path unless the person/wolf is kicked out, the last left alive (Derek season 1), just left behind (Scott in season 1) I'm sorry this is so long and so mansplained, i just obsessed over this show for a while and though this is super late, mention some things

Actually: Nogitsune can’t become werewolf. This is because he can’t be both fox and wolf. All this werewolf form of Nogitsune is just an illusion. What Scott did is have him a bite which transferred some of werewolf spark into him. And since he cannot be both werewolf and a fox, he can just toy with this extra energy. This Nogitsune werewolf form is just an illusion. Remember Nogitsune is a trickster

There's a scene in the series where Psycho Grandpa Gerard Argent is calling out to the newly resurrected Sebastian Valet out something like, "do you remember the name of the family that hunted you down and killed you..." Or, "do you know who we are and what we do," and the actor for Sebastian Valet turns and says in French, "Argent." After his sister, Marie-Jeanne Valet, killed her brother, she took the name of husband. His name as you stated in your video is/was Argent. Argent comes from the Latin: "argentum." If I am not mistaken the chemical symbol for silver is Ag. So, Marie-Jeanne Valet and her husband Henri Argent became the matriarch and patriarch of the Argent family. Thus, as the stories of werewolves was passed down in the Teen Wolf Universe the myths and legends about werewolves having a silver bane had nothing to do with the metal, but the family of Werewolf Hunters from Gevaudan, France whose name is/was Argent. I love Teen Wolf. Part of me wanted a werewolf vs. vampire season, but I settled for the SPOILERS!!! in the movie 🙂

My theory about the Beast of Gevaudan is that: werewolves like Peter from season 1 and The beast are not supposed to look like. It’s the insanity and evil that turns them into this. But before becoming werewolf, Sebastian was a serial killer. So it amplified his crazy and evil. It was so much that he couldn’t take form like Peter and he had to draw more mass and power from the telluric currents. Hence why his form is like a shadow pretending to be real. That’s why he turns the way he does. He draws mass and power from the telluric currents to compensate for his evil to gain his form. Nogitsune never became a werewolf. It’s just an illusion. It’s always been an illusion. He is a trickster. Yes he was bitten, but he can’t be wolf and a fox. He is a fox with a werewolf spark, which he can use as another form of energy. He is not a werewolf, never was, and never will be. Just a trick, game, illusion.

They were giving the true alpha aka Scott the main character basically a no kill rule like Batman but that I think that shouldn't apply to werewolves because even wolves in nature have to kill in cases in order to keep their pack safe given some the situations in the seasons I feel like giving this rule to this character took away too much from the plot and almost was fighting against it what show should focus on just hope this made sense love the show but it was so frustrating watching the show struggle with itself
