Watch this to explore 3 martial arts used by ancient warriors. This video was created to shine light on lesser known martial arts and features brief use of movie clips, as I understand it the use of footage in this video is fair use, but if any owner of the content should feel otherwise, they can contact me and let me know.

The traditional and modern both have lots to offer. I'm too passionate about martial arts to only focus on one facet of martial arts :)

I agree michael... You just need to follow what you believe in.... And keep respect the others... Because if someone teach you about respect, it will be in hard way and even hard landing with all costs....

Nice video. Just adding some historical information: Krabi Krabong was invented under the reign of King Rama II, 1767-1824 A.D.) with the sole intention of "entertainment, sport and presentation" in mind. For a very long time it was only available for members of the royal court until a man named Ajarn Naag Taebhasadin na Ayutthaya brought it as a sporting activity to the common people (supported by Rama IV). That was in 1936. In 1954 this style became part of the curriculum of some sport universities. As a matter of fact Krabi Krabong has never been used on the battlefield (as it is depicted in this video), nor was it ever designed for this purpose.

I'm proud to be a Keralite. Kalarippayatu was originated around three 3000 years ago. It was used in warfare, it has traditional medicine with it and also a vast knowledge on marmmam (the vulnerable points of body).But now a days we need more researches and practices on it.

*Some facts about Thaiachira* A spin-off of Muay Chaiya, which originated from a student sports group at Ramkhamhaeng University and therefore has nothing to do with old fighting styles, but pretends to make themselves important. The chairman of Thaiachira (Kru Lamp) has no qualification as a teacher (Krob Kru). He has also never fought in a boxing ring. His sword knowledge is based solely on student sports and stage fencing (Krabi Krabong), which is taught at the university. The rest comes from Muay Chaiya, which can also not be called an old or a real Thai martial art. The Muay from the city of Chaiya mainly refers to a certain Ajarn Ket Sriyapai. Ket Sriyapai was the son of a governor who was active in sports promotion and brought Muay Veti fighters (Muay Thai) from Chaiya to Bangkok to promote them there. Ajarn Khet never learned Muay Thai himself. The only reason why he is called "Ajarn" is that he has written and published some (fictional) stories about Muay Thai fighters. Ajarn Ket came from a high-ranking family and therefore never fought in a boxing ring. That would have been inappropriate for his standing. His actual profession was civil servant in the building industry. Later Muay Chaiya generations (for example Ket's school friend Tonglor Yalee) mixed normal Muay Thai techniques with Silat (Indonesia), Wushu (China) and Jiu Jitsu (Japan). For these reasons Muay Chaiya, and everything that comes from this direction, can neither be called an old nor a real Thai martial art. What movie was the first krabi krabong clip from?

I'd wish I could tell you. I made this video quite a while back and forgot. It's a thai martial arts movie, although I think this video is fair use, that brief use of the clip got the video a copyright strike. Still worth the effort as it's bringing value to those watching and promoting some lesser known martial arts. :)

Who came here from fight quest?
@ZenDragonYoutubeChannel
@ZenDragonYoutubeChannel 3 жыл бұрын
The Kalaripayattu episode of Fight Quest, which I watched back in the day was partially what inspired me to create this video, along with hearing about the art of Bokator from watching the KZbinr Brooklyn Monk. Years later I would realise a personal dream, going to Cambodia and training Bokator for a bit and creating a video to shine a sportlight on the art... search "Zen Dragon bokator" for that video, I'm sure you'll enjoy it :)

Bokator should not be counted as an ancient martial art since the origin is still vague and controversial. The only ancient khmer martial art should be Brodal Serei not Bokator.
