I can confirm old drivers screwing stuff up. When I first install 23.3.1 clicking on the record and stream tab then trying to record did nothing. So I DDU in safe mode then reinstalled the drivers and Boa Working!!

Quick question out of curiosity: Have you tried the AMDCleanupUtility that is provided via C:\AMD\[Driver Version]\Bin64\AMDCleanupUtility.exe ? Seems to be an even easier way for AMD :)

@@Nethan10Troi It's the utility that is run when you chose to make a clan driver install. Since there is a bug which can cause windows to go nuts and kill itself, you dont want to use that, until the bug is investigated and fixed.

Nice and simple explanation of how to use DDU. Two things I would like to add on top of this AG DDU YT tutorial. First one is to start DDU as Administrator and #2 to use Windows Safe Mode instead of Windows Normal mode for removing GPU drivers using DDU. Been using DDU since early development stage (also was helping about collecting data for more detailed GPU drivers cleanup procedure, working on DDU localization on serbian...) and from my own experience DDU in Windows Safe Mode is-the-way-to-go if you want GPU driver related to be perfectly cleaned. There is an option in DDU to restart Windows in Safe Mode, check it and close DDU, start DDU again as an Administrator, choose to restart Windows in Safe Mode and proceed, DDU will start automaticaly after Windows boots into Safe Mode and after that choose other options related to your specific case/needs. Keep up the good work AG!

After i did the DDU for cleaning drivers i enter the amd website and found an option to auto detect drivers so i downloaded and installed gpu and chipset drivers already. the problem is that now when i go into amd radeon settings i find out that i am missing record and stream toolbar and some other options and the app itself says there are no updates. like i am up to date. so i dont know whats happening... do you have that? the adrenalite edition software/ thanks!

needless to say, one shouldn't constantly update through ddu. it should only be used if there are ACTUAL problems being caused by overwriting the previous driver. i think this is important to mention. even the ddu team themselves advise this.

@@CopR8r it's not necessarily a problem, but some people have the idea that when you update without ddu you might run into issues, which is nonsense. it always depends on the individual system. i stopped using ddu (only used it when switching from nvidia to amd) and haven't had any issues

Man, you just saved my gpu. It was causing black screen whenever the gpu reaches above 60c and its not a temporary black screen but a complete blackout one even though the computer is still running when it happens(blackscreen). I tried many suggestions from internet like underclocking or use older gpu drivets but none of them worked. Now from your video I downloaded and installed my mb latest chipset driver and guess what, it finally does not cause blackscreen whenever I play games that runs the gpu above 60c temp. So thanks alot ! (I used latest gpu driver and latest chipset driver btw)

Great video as always. I can add one more tip for the AMD users. I am always installing the GPU and AMD high definition audio drivers trough the device manager without any trace of the Adrenalin software , because many times it is causing issues too. For GPU overclock and undervolt I`m using MSI afterburner (and MPO disabled) and my system is rock solid.

just wanna send a huge thank you your way, everytime i go to update a driver i was getting black screen. If it wasn't for this video i woulda never thought about updating the chipset drivers. Mine were almost a year old. I used DDU in safe mode and then reinstalled my nvidia driver and still got blackscreen. so i actually had to install the chipset drivers first, then repeat the process of using DDU to install a clean version of my nvidia driver and it worked like a charm. thank you again!!

I want to share a strange observation. After updating the AMD drivers, I always get stutters. At first I looked for what the problem was. Has concluded. The more often I run games, the smoother they run. Over time, statters disappear completely. The framerate is getting great. In about one week. I have a stock i7 5820k running at 2133MHz+6600xt I tried to overclock the memory but my favorite game Crossout crashes. Therefore, I left everything as it is.

Thats because of the shader cache loading. In your case since your CPU and ram are slower, it takes more time to load

I have been also experiencing the same. Yesterday in the middle of the gaming my monitor went black I had to click the power button to shut it down and boot up again. After booting I notice in device manager my 6700xt was replaced by Microsoft basic display adapter. Updating windows fixed the issue but it introduced stutters. I've installed new and old drivers 3 times yet the stutters haven't been fixed

I've been using DDU all my life, no problems. The last time there was a battle not with AMD drivers, but with the auto-update of Windows drivers, because of this, the pa-300 error appeared. After making sure that Genshin still crashes in the new drivers, I installed the ancient 22.5.1....🙃

I literally have to reinstall drivers with DDU every 2-3 updates on nvidia. Not sure why, but I get random flickering black screen and when I update the pc crashes and I have to reboot but the GPU will be updated. It’s hella weird.

I recently downgraded from 23.3.1 bc of some game crashes but now on 23.2.2 I got BSOD out of nowhere on the desktop on idle I didn’t even run any program Could it also be bc of drivers ? I now am installing back the 23.3.1 and first I deinstalled the chipset drivers and then the Gpu driver and now am Installing the Gpu driver and after that the chipset drivers It couldn’t be the Psu bc it’s new and functioned perfectly before U have ideas what it could be it crashed on idle and while gaming 2 times but the ones while gaming wasn’t BSOD but restarts out of nowhere could it be the RAM ?

CPU and RAM is running the same undervolt and overclocks for 3 yrs so couldn’t be that could it ? Ram is just XMP enabled to 3200mhz cl16 And cpu is just undervolted with curve optimizer for years now without any problem Could it be something with the drivers ? Before bc the only thing I did was downgrading the GpU drivers to 23.2.2 from 23.3.1 before that no crashes no BSODs and especially no BSOD on idle desktop Is there a way to check if it’s the RAM like a RAM test to see if it crashes ?

I completely forgot about the chipset drivers. Now my Old Undervolt/Overclock works again since i have installed the new chipset drivers. 6900 XT @1075 mv , 2675 Mhz

i used the ddu method for a long time, but in the last full year with amd i've done a different kind of clean, I install the chipset and gpu driver with the normal installer, with no overwrite or clean option, BUT after the installation process i make a reboot, and i go directly in RAPR and manually delete all old driver, and one in while i just select all driver and clean it (obviosly not force cleaning) with this all driver that are not used in the system are wiped out.

Ever since updating to 23.3.1 with my 6900xt I get error anytime I try to upload clips I have saved through adrenalin to KZbin. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it so I can get my clips to upload?

I'm going to give this a go. My 240Hz display won't do anything faster than 75Hz- in game. I just went from a 2060 to a 7900 XT. 75Hz is the frame cap of my old display.

As of now, at this state of Windows. that option only prevents the windows from updating its driver, temporarily. My problem is Windows still forces installing it's preferred driver once you check for the update after all and it installs the older driver over the newest one, which is worse. So I think I should let it install its driver automatically before I get the new one. I dont know if it has something to do with my optimus laptop.

@@taimarry8492 I cant. But it works properly though. Just let the windows install whatever it wants as a base driver. There shouldnt be any problems. The driver crash usually occurs when you have a lot of residues from many versions of that you havent clean them up.

this whole driver installation topic has become so controversial. i will add my opinion and my own practice :D i believe the last time i used DDU was somewhere in 2018... since then i ALWAYS extract only the WT6A_INF folder from the installer package with 7zip. then i use control panel to update the driver ( via .ini file from the extraction). after that i manually run "ccc2_installer.exe" from the B[number] folder inside the WT6A_INF folder. i have no problems with this method since 2018, it does NOT need an reboot. of course some things may only use new dll after reboot but it works directly after the driver reset during install.

THANKS YOU SO MUCH ! I was having weird pink artifact when moving in games/my camera or even when I was watching video after updating to the latest driver. I tried going back to the old driver, but the artifact was still here. I removed completely the driver and the artifact was removed, but when I installed the driver back the artifact was here again... I did the chipset drivers part of the video and POOF, no artifact :)

For some reason whenever I use ddu the driver installation process gives me an error but using amd cleanup utility works perfectly fine even without switching to safe mode. This was the case with both my old R9 380 and new RX 6700.

Hindsight I probably should have been here sooner. I actually switched from amd to intel motherboard back in July. Years ago when I had an rx550 I swapped it for a 1070ti. Just recently swapped my ssd for an nvme. Idk if this will help but I’m tryna fix some issues so this may help

My 2080 Super was mad glitching and flickering all of a sudden, in my animation view port program, Unreal, when youtube videos were playing, when the Windows task bar would pop up and overlap another window or video playing. I went through your process several times testing out multiple back dated drivers all the way back to Dec 2022.. ( and yes I updated my Chipset drivers) each time I updated drivers, it persisted to glitch and flicker. - The only time it did not glitch or flicker was at the stage where I used DDU to remove the drivers. Although choppy mouse movements and limited to a super low screen resolution like 1280X 960 or something, I tried out youtube, my other graphics programs, etc, and it had virtually no glitch. I ended up just getting a 4070Ti and I dont have to deal with that anymore, however, would like to know what you think my results are an indicator of? was there something in my 2080 Super that broke that just refused to comply with the new driver updates of the past year? Why was there no glitch when there was no driver installed? Thanks again for your fantastic video.

I plan on switching to amd im going with the 7900xt but idk whether or not to go with the 5000 series cpu or move to the 7000 series and go the ddr5 route what cpu do you think as well would pair well with limited bottlenecks im nervous and dont know what to do please help me 😭
