Not better, just different, and still nice. Billy Joel said he was encouraged to write a hymn, and this was the result. A guitar can't do a hymn very well (IMHO) but your choice is still very nice. Well played and well sung. This version has a kind vocal delivery with a warm and unstructured piano accompaniment, but its meter is not in the true vein of a hymn. Go listen to the DR Pigekoret Live version of this song. They beautifully deliver and maintain the hymn nature of the song. Then ... go listen to Billy Joel's official version again. It IS STILL the best, even in 2024, after listening to all those covers, over all these years.
