This is why I strongly disagree with his induction to the Hall of Fame. Baseball writers and the committee should take into account not only the stats but more importantly, the behavior/ demeanor of a player on the diamond. Deliberately throwing at opposing players should be heavily penalized.

You have to understand Pedro's rep at the time. Dude threw up and in to keep hitters off balance all the time - if it gets away it's a fastball to the skull. Was he trying to hit him w/ a perfect game going? No. Was he throwing an 0-2 pitch under his chin to back him off the plate for the next pitch? Absolutely.
@alwillk2 жыл бұрын
@phillipians he was also a ghost in the playoffs aside from the ‘01 World Series. His numbers dropped of precipitously in the playoffs. He was your typical stat padder hitting homers and stealing bases in meaningless games. His late/close .756 ops is way below his career .830 ops.

Beautiful. Pedro was a great baseball heel. At least that season has some memories to it. The Expos may not have won it all, but it’s shame they didn’t have the chance. That team was rolling when the season was stopped. So was Tony Gwynn. He had a legit chance of hitting .400.

They weren’t going to beat Atlanta or Cincinnati. They were 23-5 against the 3 worst teams in the league cubs, marlins, padres. Vs Atlanta and Cincinnati they were 7-8 who had the other two best records in The NL in 1994. Braves/white Sox would have been the series that year.

@Malkumecks2 жыл бұрын
@Lighthouse in the Storm the big steroid investigation was in 2006 after Canseco’s book came out. If you look at Mark McGwires 1987 rookie card and compare it to 1994 Mark McGwire you can tell a huge difference in his physical appearance. Same with Barry Bonds when he was with Pittsburgh vs his days with San Francisco. You’d have to assume based on that and the investigation that didn’t really start until 2006, that the 1990’s were full of roided up athletes. Then when you see all the fights that happened in 1994, you can come to the conclusion that roid rage was a big factor here.

Well 1 pitchers are making 40 million to play a game every 5 games. The pirates, Milwaukee, Reds,Oakland , Minnesota will never win a World Series. No salary cap is terrible for baseball, 20 dollars for a beer is pricing out family’s out of the game. What else you want me to mention. All I’m saying is baseball is ok today compared to great 20 years ago
