Eclipse, I tend to agree with you on most things, but this time I need to say it: orientation toward skill doesn't make the game, fun does. People who aren't you, believe it or not, find this game incredibly fun and a great way to satisfy their power fantasies. It may not be your thing (it certainly isn't mine), but there definitely are people out there who enjoy games like this despite the absence of the 'gameplay loop' you and I typically require to find enjoyment in a game. As for the accusations of this game being a 1-to-1 clone of TSB, I really think that most of the similarities are really just a product of the genre, but I do still believe that they should try to diversify a bit more since the homologousness of the mechanics across games might be veering into the realm of plagiarism.

The crux of these game, is the combat and because you don't enjoy stun simulator combat nor fighting games in general , subjectively, game is complete garbage to you. Dunno man, thought realm rampage was pretty fun. I specifically liked the tp air slash that sukuna had in base, because it was really fun for movement. The parkour is similar to jujutsu shenanigans, and it has those funny zipline thingies you can fly around on and drop on people. Some characters also have an R special (jujutsu shenanigans), and there's also environmental destruction physics (like jujutsu shenanigans), plus your forward dash can break things. The counter move for Sukuna I think is also pretty fun because it's not a gauranteed hit and you can aim it in a bunch of different directions. Some of the other characters are pretty bland, but otherwise they're mostly alright. It might be boring old slop, but I don't see anything trash about it.

I think the main reason why people play battlegrounds (Especially the strongest battlegrounds) is simply how chaotic it is. I mean I joined a server and two seconds in I see two nukes going off and one guy getting serious punched to across the map. You could also meet people (voice chat servers are always funny) and just interact with others. Not saying tsb is an actual game but I think there's a valid reason for playing a battlegrounds game, especially if you're bored. (As least it's not sol's rng.)

Although yes, I do have my problems with games and such, I feel like your main problem come from the fact that you don't enjoy battleground style games (TSB, JJS, RR, HB, etc) and the type of combat it uses (Simplified with generally easier combos) and how it doesn't have a specific gimmick to it that 'sets it apart'. Although I may be wrong on this, and feel free to correct any inaccurate statements or assumptions I've made but I don't find this video as a genuine reason to not like RR, or other Battlegrounds. It just feels like pre-conceived notions that 'Because I don't enjoy this game format and I don't understand how people enjoy this game, all other games in a similar format must be dogshit too' and that isn't a good argument against most anything. Also looking at your TSB video, it seems you don't understand that people aren't there for some overarching story or something like that. You realize that’s the point of a battlegrounds game, right? Just jump and and fuck around for an hour with friends or by yourself. It’s meant to be an easy game to hop on. That’s why battle grounds games so good. It’s easy to make, allowing for faster and better updates (this does not mean the devs are good, it’s just a easier experience) as well as on the developer side, they have less work and more money. And that “dopamine rush” or whatever, there are no 1 shot combos that’s are true in RR or in most battlegrounds games matter of fact. Eclipse is biased imo. He’s bad at the game in his example of a 1 shot combo when he was being attacked by the mochi mochi guy, and eclipse could have side dashed or used evasive at anytime, but he didn’t. So imo, eclipse is wrong. Also before anybody writes a reply, don’t be some stupid shit like “watch the video”, as I did, and came to my conclusion.

@@m4shermantank475 Battlegrounds games aren’t good just because hundreds of thousands of kids happen to like them, just look at Sol’s RNG. Kids will play LITERALLY anything. Battlegrounds games as a concept aren’t inherently bad, they all currently just never try to improve outside of animations and visuals. They lack depth (battlegrounds characters have not even half the depth of smash bros characters for example), most of the skill comes from movement and how well you can bypass someone’s block since Eclipse already nailed his point with the easy google combos, and there’s no other engaging mechanics aside fighting other players, which can get boring unless you’re a kid that gets way more enjoyment from less (Sol’s RNG again, lol.) TL;DR: Battlegrounds games suck because they’re all literally copy pasted with basically no innovation in sight since they all only exist to chase a profitable trend like the rest of this entire platform, and drown out games with actual passion put into them.

There are a lot of things that set Realm Rampage apart from other battlegrounds games. Domain/ult move clashing, ziplines, voxel destruction, and R moves, and on top of that they're going to add more. They're adding vehicles, fusion (like from Dragon Ball), elevators, 1v1s and 2v2s, and more. In the sub-announcements in the Discord, the creator said the update log of the update that's set for tomorrow will be 200 lines long, full of bug fixes and new additions. Yes, it's buggy, but that's to be expected because it just released. And yes, it does take skill to pull off a one-shot combo, because there's a universal mechanic in all battlegrounds games called ragdoll cancel. It lets you dash out of a ragdoll with a cooldown, letting you get out of combos. If a player is bad, they won't be able to hit a more decent player in neutral, much less twice in the amount of time that it takes for their ragdoll cancel to refresh, so that means the bad player won't be able to hit the one shot combo even if they have the combo itself down. Frankly I don't think the skill required to pull off the combos matters too much as long as the characters are balanced because the gameplay itself happens during neutral. And yes, it's a game where you run around and kill people. That's not objectively bad, that's more of just a preference on your part, and it also wouldn't be much of a battlegrounds game without that aspect. Cons: - Buggy since it just came out - Terrible balancing (Jinwoo/Shadow Monarch is objectively the best character in the game) also because it just came out - Dio is the only character with an R move in base right now (edit: Goku has one too) - No other gamemodes (give it literally a day, they should be updating tomorrow) Pros: - Voxel destruction which is only well-implemented in one other game - Domain clashing (you can clash Goku's spirit bomb with Dio's time stop and Sukuna's Malevolent Shrine, for example, and it can have five simultaneous participants if not more) - Ziplines - R/special moves (which, granted, only Dio/Goku have at the moment, Sukuna also has one in ult but that doesn't count as much) - Good developers who are not Uzukee - Going to add more original things such as vehicles, elevators, and fusion (which is in Z Battlegrounds but the owner of this game also owns that so it's still original) - It's hard to explain but it's really fun with friends Tip: If you want to get better at bg games (which you don't lol but still), get better at hitting people in neutral and making people waste their ragdoll cancel so that you can hit them with a full, damaging combo. Edit: They've officially released the update. Unfortunately they delayed vehicles and ranked, but that just goes to show that they're prioritizing the game's playability over content, which is good. Aspector (the creator) said one-shot combos should be fixed, and if people are still doing them they're most likely not true. I recommend joining the RR discord and looking at the patch notes, but here are some highlights: - R specials for every finished character now - Major optimization - Fixed falling through the map - Ziplines are now much harder to use to run away (you literally cannot use them when under 30 hp now) - Faster to pick up throwables - Going into a domain is a lot less laggy - Jinwoo nerfs (thank god) - Fixed inconsistencies with moves that put the opponent into a tumble state - Like 500 other bug fixes - Goku getting rework moves next Sunday Again, they're good devs. I can say this because I played Z Battlegrounds for a while and they only ever had genuine excuses for not working on the game (exams + this game now) and never left the community in the dark as far as I can remember. Many of the problems people have with the game (particularly in the reply section of this comment) have been/will be fixed.

The main reason why i hate realm rampage, is because almost every characters is either what we saw before in other games, or re-used assets. For example goku FULL moveset is literally goku from ki battlegrounds, and i know that game have same devs or owner (whatever) but still re-using assets is so lazy behavior. And katakuri whit his moveset from anime showdown, and i know what yall gonna say "but its inspired from the anime blah-blah-blah" but having same moveset as any other games is not making your game unique at all. I think there's a lot of things battlegrounds could add to make the game feel more like a passionate game than a stress test. I mean, just to name a few: Story Mode, Versus AI opponent with varying difficulties, a reason to fight other players such as a daily quest function or character unlocking via in game currency, gamemodes like FFA Team Versus and maybe even CTF if you're a bit old-school. And most importantly? A tutorial and fleshed out training mode. You need to pay for a training mode in every single game. How stupid is that? The games expect the unfamiliar player just to look everything up or get beat into the ground. How are you even supposed to learn the game if the game doesn't want you to learn unless you pay it? I swear man...

Yes, Blox Fruits has similar gameplay, but it takes a frankly *egregious* amount of grinding to get to that point. TL;DR: Battlegrounds games? Hop in, select any character, fight. Blox Fruits? Hop in, GRINNNNNNDDDDDDD for *ages*, optimise abilities, THEN can you fight.

I gotta half agree half disagree with you about battlegrounds games. I don't think the core gameplay of just spawn in and kill people is inherently a bad thing. While you can change the gamepay by adding things like modes, at the end of the day its just gonna be a hop on and kill people game. However, almost every single battlegrounds game is just an exact copy paste with the same combat and issues. There might be different characters and effects, but they all feel the same. I'd be more okay with them if there was just more innovation, variation, and quality. Personally I would love it if these devs would spend more of their time on making better games, but I'd like to still have battlegrounds games around (with just a bit more game in them)

You should try Project Bending! It is an interesting take on the battlegrounds formula that I really appreciate. Gonna be honest, at this point in time the game is pretty dogwater but I think when the devs refine it, it will be one of the best fighting games on Roblox! It's clear the devs take inspiration from Rumble (an earth bending vr fighting game) and you can actually do some pretty cool stuff with it. I don't expect you to give it a good review it but it would be cool to see what you think about the game's earth bending mechanics. (my favorite part is that you can bend other people's constructs)

pretty frequent viewer here hello! i think you're right about the game being bad but i can tell you why people, like me, enjoy it. I love fighting games, not just roblox fighting games but classic ones. I currently have over 400 hours in guilty gear strive and have been at the highest rank several times. This game DOES actually do several different things from other battlegrounds games. The nifty little fast travel system, the special ability button which is essentially a 5th move, the destructible environment, special ultimate interactions, and the parkour for example. Yes this game explains absolutely zero of this and there is no tutorial to be seen and that is why im not even remotely upset at your opinion or calling you wrong. I have played battlegrounds games that inspired this one, like jujutsu shenanigans, so i already had an understanding of these mechanics. They are just...fun! There is nothing wrong with having brainless fun for free! I don't buy the early access characters or emotes or anything like that, i just think it's cool that i can play an easy access game with my friends and make anime characters fight each other! It's fun! It's simple dumb fun and that's all some games have to be. If you are wondering what we get out of it well that's it! We can split up in public lobbies and just chill because the game is really really easy so we can talk to each other and have really funny stupid stuff happen. Is there better things? Probably. Is this game super accessible and free? Yeah! It's technically the only BG game that has characters from multiple different anime that matches the modern BG game formula and its the only anime game out rn that lets me fight other anime characters that is simple dumb fun! Unfortunately the actual game developers for actual anime games kinda suck and even when they don't fans of these games want other things sometimes and that's okay! This is the first time in a while ive seen the marketplace of ideas expanding even if the ways they are doing so are small. This is just a fanmade indie game i can play with my friends to me and it's really fun for being what it is. Thats really it 👍

Realm Rampage feels like the culmination of every popular battlegrounds. I really like it ngl, it has the visuals of JJS and the combat from Strongest. I didn’t really like strongest but I liked JJS. I like just fighting people though, not much of a grinder. If the game gets more balanced and takes away the one shots.

No combo is infinite, you have a ragdoll cancel (felt like I needed to say that). Battlegrounds games are popular because THERES NOTHING ELSE TO PLAY THATS ACTUALLY GOOD AND WONT MAKE YOUR BRAIN MELT. (tbh I kinda like ebg, its just a fun-bad game imo) Aside from that, your criticisms are valid, every bg game is a copy and paste of another, aside from very few: Soulshatters, Elemental BG (The originals of the BG genre), TSBG (the one that brought it back), Heroes BG (First to have bosses, mastery, and many other things), the ORIGINAL Ki BG, and JJS. Everything else is, unfortunately, a copy and paste. By the way, to play a bg game properly, I recommend you start moving your mouse more, turn on auto run and auto use, and start by learning in a private server. 👍

I don't agree with your take on animators and vfx artists, they can't just take their skills and "make a better game," because they aren't the ones that make them. Programmers are responsible for making the game work, everybody else just makes it look pretty. And unfortunately, because all the programmers make is , well, this, the animators, modelers, and vfx artists have no choice but to work for these sorts of games if they want to have any work at all. And unlike the programmers, they are incapable of realizing a game with their own skills, so it shouldn't be said that they're "wasting their skills" on things like these, it shouldn't be said that they should just "leave and go make a better game," because they quite literally can't. Blame that on the people who actually think up and make the games, not on the visual artists who help realize those ideas.

I think Eclipse is going insane. He gave UZU CREDIT. Because he doesnt like the style of "hop on, fight, leave" games. Dont get me wrong, I dont like the game either but come on. Uzu's game released with a character that was unfinished after like 7 months. I know I'll probably be put on DDOS, if so, Hi Eclipse-hope you're having a nice day, but calling essentially a decades old style of games non games feels.. weird? (Naruto Storm Series, dragon ball fighterz, Jump Force being obviously not 1-1 but examples of games with a simmilar intent to TSB, RR) While a lot of them do have side content which a majority of "Battlegrounds" games don't have, the general intent of them is simple: "Join/Open game- go fight (whether through the lobby, menu or any other way) and leave when you've had enough of playing". the difference between those games and battlegrounds games is that since theyre real games with high budgets and experienced developers, they have much more mechanical depth and thought put into them. for instance, somebody could have been playing fighterz for years and still not have reached their full potential. these aren't games you just "hop on, fight, leave", they're games where you actively learn and improve upon, much like playing an instrument or making art. they can be played like the way you said, but the reason they're being played to this day is because of how intricate they can be and how rewarding it is to master them. battlegrounds games dont have any of that. if you've mastered one, you've mastered all of them, and that process wont take you longer than a week if you're not an idiot. they are very similar to 3d arena fighters like naruto storm or jump force in that regard, but at least those games have plenty of singleplayer content and customizability to make up for it. battlegrounds games have the gameplay loop of 2d fighting games with the depth of arena fighters

I think The original Tekkens and Mortal Kombats are more accurate examples due to story lines and Game-modes and what-not in modern games but yeah, calling RR and TSB complete garbage is a stretch as they're conceptually the same as these other Idolised games. The best comparison that I can think of in terms of the combat is(Like you said) Dbfz, which prioritises you learning how to play neutral, if you can't play neutral, you've basically already lost.
