This brings back memory... Anda Géza came to the Royal Academy of Music (London) for some event when I was a student there. When our eyes met, I was completely captivated by him. Later I saw "Elvira Madigan". The music for the film was the 2nd movement of this and played by Anda. I felt very sad when I heard of his death.

Překrásné. Je vidět, že Géza Anda byl mistr právě přes Mozarta. Tento koncert, myslím, že jeden z těch nejzávažnějších, které WAM napsal, prověří cit pro výraz každého hudebníka. Zde nejen perfektně zvládá klavírní sólový part, ale i doprovodný orchestr jako dirigent. Na tehdejší dobu velmi dobrá nahrávka i po technické stránce. Vřele děkuji za nahrávku a pozdravuji z Rakovnicka z České republiky. Beautiful. It can be seen that Géza Anda was a master through Mozart. This concert, I think, one of the most serious written by WAM will test every musician's sense of expression. Here he not only perfectly manages the piano solo part, but also the accompanying orchestra as a conductor. A very good recording at that time, also from a technical point of view. I got this recording on a cassette (remember those?) when I was about 14-15, still have it 40+ years later but the sound quality has deteriorated horrifically. I am sure I am biased because this was the first I heard, but in my opinion this has always been the best - until I heard Yeol Eum Son.. and I still haven't heard Ingrid Haebler playing it... which I guess will be a treat. Actually now that I am old and grumpy I can hear some lack of precision in the orchestra in the 2nd movement, but it is really insignificant.

I thought "Anda" is the last name. One of the best, if not the best, No. 21. Is "Elvira Madigan" already sixty years ago? I can hardly remember anything. It is about time to see the movie once again before it is too late. It should be on the web somewhere.
