Been using this hitch for 2 years. 34 foot toy hauler, works good, side brackets have never moved.

Used this hitch with 35ft travel trailer for 3 years. Loved it. Did drill a shallow detent in frame for that lock screw to prevent it from slipping. Also preferred to detach chain with the clevis bolts rather than the pin and bottom plate. Good videos! Happy travels!

Not sure about this Anderson setup but with most all other WDH setups including BlueOx, etc they have specific instructions to set-up hitch with minimum air in airbags and never inflate when using hitch as doing so works against the WDH. Apparently modifying truck height throws t he entire setup out to lunch.

How does this hitch preform off road , plans on using blm land a lot and I was told that driving off road with wdh’s will bend your frame . Or do you disconnect it when you drive off road ? I hav at 37ft travel trailer this built on a 5th wheel frame

We do not disconnect and we have not noticed any frame, bending or issues as of yet. Time will tell.

Looked into this same setup for my trailer but upon more investigation people said you are transferring all the weight/towing off the ball and to the chains of this system? When I thought about it it made sense but I’m not sure 🤷🏼

Another nice video. I am wondering why you went with only a WD rather than a WD with Antisway built in? I ask because there is only a little price difference but a huge difference in how they pull. We love our Reese Straightline since upgrading from the standard WD. Please advise as I must be missing something.

Hitch nas a taper built in with a brake lining materiel which creates anti-sway. Works great!

So we really just liked the simplicity of hooking up with this hitch. Also we had already been towing our trailer for 2 months with no WDH and it was fine. Just nice to have a little more safety.

So when you get to your RV park, how do you disconnect it? Do you have to loosen the chains each time. As it is now, I just pop off my bars and uncouple. Seems like this might be a longer process?

Most of the time we can just drop that front plate. On occasion we will have to listen the chains if we are at a weird angle. We prefer this set we like the weight savings.

Of course. We boondock A LOT and we have to do the bolts often because of our angels and off camber situations. But if at parks I'm confident it will be simple and quick.

Hey guys is that a 2 1/2 inch shank or 3 inch on your Ram?

It's the larger size. You can get either from Andersen and our Ram comes with an adapter.

Need to clarify that the trailer should be perfectly parallel to the ground not perfectly level. If the ground is not level, you don’t want the trailer level because the tow vehicle won’t be level. Pick a measurement point on the front of the trailer and the rear and get it parallel to the ground.

@@AdventureEndeavor unfortunately it did not help with weight distribution and honestly the sway was worse than out Blue ox Trackpro. I had several conversations with Andersen Tech Support and just couldn’t get it dialed in, so they helped return it. Was tired of all theses types of WDH so finally just bit the bullet and got the Hensley.

Did the top of the a-frame tube get crushed by the tightening of the bracket or set screw? At 7:40, the top of the a-frame looks like it is crushed at the bracket.

You missed something. Our truck has a class 5 hitch. We just did not have a weight distribution hitch and to be honest it was fine. The Andersen just adds a LITTLE stability

That said-- i personally wouldnt tow a rig with out a stabilizer hitch but thats me--i didnt get to be 84 by being a wuss-im so brave i even kept the same wife for 62 years

@@AdventureEndeavor you keep yours and I'll keep mine! I've been towing all kinds of trailers behind all kinds of vehicles for well over 50 years. EAZ Lift has been around since 1952 and I believe that it's still the best one out there. It has proven the test of time. There's a video on KZbin testing 10 different types of weight distributing hitches and about half of those are now copying the EAZ Lift design. That says a lot to me.

I find the comment extremely odd as well. All WD hitches have to be setup and this process is virtually identical for brands. Sure the hardware and tightening procedures may be different but all in all you still have measure and adjust to get the proper results.
