@@Repetoire I wouldnt even say that. Id say technique vs strength. I grew up a fan of the fight game and a wrestler, so to see a muay thai/ bjj guy pull that off so effortlessly was really cool to see it work out in his favor the way it did. Watching the knockout Silva got on Franklin still hurts me to watch. Rich was my favorite fighter when I was younger, and if there had never been an Anderson Silva I firmly believe Rich would have had a title reign as dominant as any of the all time greats. Rich Franklin was the original Matt Holloway; better than everyone else in the division but unable to beat the all-time great champion who just happens to be active at the same time they are. The sport evolved SO much in such a short time in the early-mid 2000’s. Rich showed up and was a clear evolution of the fighters that came before him, with no real stylistic weaknesses, but then Anderson Silva came into the scene and immediately revolutionized stand up fighting in MMA with his extensive technical brilliance at Muay Thai.

GSP. Only reaslly lost twice and avenged them with finishes.

Khabib is hard to rate because he left too early. Everyone else in the all time great category stayed long enough for the game to catch up to them. I’d say P4P Demetrius Johnson or Jon Jones are the best of all time purely on the variety of which they can win. Volkanovski is one who can rise up the list if he remains as great for another 2-3 years
@davidphillips18458 ай бұрын
Definitely Jon Jones. GSP lost, DJ lost, Khabib left early and faced mostly strikers. Jon Jones holds the record for title defenses and has never been defeated. He also faced the highest caliber of competition and is a 2 division champion. Objectively It's Jon Jones.

@davidphillips1845 not true and not at all an intelligent response.
@davidphillips18458 ай бұрын
@@Vegas5150 Plenty of intelligence in the response for those intelligent enough to get it. Explain how the ref "saved" Silva if he's doing damage from the bottom and Nate isn't? Nate could only have been cheated if he was winning. The number 1 criteria in UFC judging is damage. So if Nate's not doing damage or advancing his position, how is he cheated when the ref stands them up after warning he needs to improve his position? This is not wrestling. The fighter on top is not automatically winning. Does that make sense?
@Vegas51508 ай бұрын
@davidphillips1845 I saw it live and when I made the comment. Nate had him down and they got stood up after about 30 seconds, everything you say about losing from the top is laughable. He lost the fight yes, but that was where he could've finished it, the ref saved Silva from probably getting smeared Into the mat
@davidphillips18458 ай бұрын
@@Vegas5150 Must've been a cool fight to see in person. From this video I count Nate had Anderson down for 2 minutes and 40 seconds, from 4:07 to 6:47, during which he landed 5 or 6 pitty pat shots, about half what Silva landed and about half as hard. I say don't be emotional because if you're pulling for Nate you'll think about what he could have done on top. If you rewatch objectively you'll see Nate wasn't doing any damage or advancing his position -he got 3 warnings and stood up. Don't look at what he might have done like a fan would, watch what he actually did with the position... nothing. Compare the damage Anderson did from top compared to what Nate did. As for a fighter winning in the bottom position, watch the Charles Oliveira vs Beneil Dariush for a prime example of a fighter controlling the position from the bottom. MMA is not wrestling.
