It's up there for sure. Ibanez know how to make a beautiful guitar both optically and on the specs and hardware guitar. Great stuff, but I hate how Ibanez guitars are always pegged as metal guitars. They are easily some of the most versatile and accessible guitars out there, and deserve to be recognized as such! Edit to clarify: I specifically meant that they are generally demoed on this channel as metal guitars, especially the RG body style. It would be cool to see them shown to be as versatile as they are, not just over a metal backing. Not to take away from anything the guys are doing, just a thought!
@nicosand862 жыл бұрын
Dont think Ibanez as a brand is always pegged as metal guitars, but the RG series are metal guitars ;) they have several other models that aren't as "metally". So as a brand i would agree with you, they are very versatile and accessible.
@tenebroruncr43742 жыл бұрын
I have the RG350 and the RG370 that are not worth €500 and I don't change them for the other Fenders and other brands that I have. They're like, Ultra thin mast and flat radius. And with a lot of pickups to play everything. That 3-pickup model in ebony I will end up buying for sure. Big guitars.
@noAPlease2 жыл бұрын
@@nicosand86 I respectfully disagree- the Rg started out as Steve Vai’s brainchild, someone who is just as versatile as the model. To call the RG only a metal guitar would be to call the Jem an only metal guitar- something it simply is not.
@nicosand862 жыл бұрын
@@noAPlease no, Ibanez already had the RG series, it was one of the 3 models Ibanez sent to Vai, then he tinkered some with them, and sent them back telling them how he wanted them. The RG goes back to very early 80s. And also the JEM series isn't an RG, it has the main shape, but it's not an RG

Plenty of RG's are metal, like the black Iron Label in this video, but most can be used for anything. Specifically ones with 3 pickups.

The Tone Zone really ought to be demo'ed correctly by showing the tonal options when the volume is turned down lower. It is one of the most dynamic pickups. I got an old MIJ RG prestige and no other pickup I have responds to volume quite the same as the Tone Zone. With volume on full of course you will get a ton of gain, but if you back it off to half way or even lower, you get a very nice clean almost single coily / scooped sound. You can also dial in a slightly crunchy rock tone if you bring it up a bit but not quite to full volume. Also, in the mixed positions of 2, 3 and 4 you can back down on volume and get very nice and almost authentic strat sounds. Nothing against Lee demoing these, but I feel that strumming a few chords on each pickup doesn't do justice to these very versatile guitars.

RG is short for RoadStar Guitar from 1986 and up they were the Roadstar series 2 RG *model number* example RG440 which is what replaced from 1985 and before the same guitars were known as the Roadstar Series 2 RS *model number* example RS 530 the 1986 year was when the original Ibanez Edge tremolo came out (86 was a unique model year for more than just the guitars the original edge as we know it with the licking studs and spring lock plate was only introduced starting in 1987 when the Jem came out along with what ended up being what became the RG body shape as we know it now as the 1986 and 1987 RG series had the back to the future Marty McFly / the Gary Moore out in the fields black guitar that was more strat shaped with odd sculpted hooks on the horns)
