Had never payed much attention to Ariel but I'm just noticing how not only he's a legend of a player, his comments are very insightful and interesting. Pete's are more superficial and he seems more worried about making jokes and being funny, which is fine, but I'd like to see more of Ariel for sure after this.

theSollundForYou that's very good news: you can just buy a set of good pickups for around 100-200 euros/pounds/dollars and boom, you have a good-sounding, good-feeling guitar for less than a half of the price of an American-made Fender!

@@Spikeupine The bridge and tuners are pretty good in the high-end Squiers, unlike in the cheaper models. High-quality electronics are not very expensive so if you replace them you will probably pay only 30 euros/pounds extra (3 potentiometers, capacitor + switch)

@@thewhiffinshow8898 I guarantee they sell a hell of a lot more Squiers than Fenders already, and there will always be collectors and people who buy guitars based on what's written on the head stock anyway. And realistically, how many people do you think are in the market for a custom shop Fender and also plan on buying it at Andertons, but then watch this video and decide on a Squier instead based on what they said in the video? I mean think about it.

@Dropaprayer

A lot of companies are doing ultra-high end gig bags for both ease of carrying around as well as protection - you can get 20-25mm of foam,which actually protects the guitar better than a hard case in most cases. Hard cases are good for storage because they stack,but a great soft case/high quality gig bag is a great alternative (and probably more expensive than a lot of hard cases).

A couple of observations: 1. Pete and Ariel are amazingly talented - yes please, more of those two in this or similar format. 2. IMO good reminder of how the ear wants to like the louder sound source. The Custom 59 Fender was quieter, which could just be low output pickups set up low in height. I bet if you raised the height so that it was louder but still not compressing like the hotter pickups then they would have liked it a lot more. 3. Would be interesting to see a blind test where they have to play 4 or 5 guitars unplugged and list preferences and then compare to when plugged in.

Surprisingly I liked the Am Performer and G&L the most since I love super dirty Tele sounds but I see of course the appeal of the more expensive and mellow sounding Teles but I just prefer them Dirty and with a lot of clarity and piercing treble. That being said - the 59 sounded amazing as well. Really nice mix of dirt and softness.

Staring up into nothing like Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman or Stevie Wonder when he's awake. And the look on his face when he played his own favorite guitar was like someone shot his dog. He was so deflated that there might be another guitar out there that felt that way. Awesome job Cap'n Lee!

That was a lot of fun to watch! And I really liked having two guitarists doing the guessing so I would not complain if you keep doing these blindfold challenges that way. And Pete and Ariel were great!

It would have been cool to put the Fender baja Tele in there as it is custom shop designed, has the same twisted tele pickup as the 59 and pete's purple monster But is cheaper cause its a Mexican. I have one and love it, I also went to Andertons and played 59, which was great and I noticed something similar in the sound. When I looked it up I noticed some similarities.

I gotta say that G and L ASAT was my favorite. I own one so I'm a little partial though. I like it more than my players telecaster as it just sounds a little more beefy.

Pete: "You said I could touch anything on the guitar apart from the headstock." **touches the headstock** Well played, Pete.

I get what Ariel is saying with certain supposedly "high-end" guitars feeling quite stale and cheap. I've tried some Gibsons worth 3 grand that wasn't anything special. It looked fantastic, but when I played it nothing jumped out. It didn't have that "wow" factor that even some 1,000 dollar guitars have.

That Hansen is a thing of profound beauty. Here was me hoping it was a budget-midrange kind of deal, NOPE it's like twice the price of my american standard strat

Always find a way to subtly include their personal guitar into the mix. That really makes it more interesting.

As I've always said its not the guitar manufacturer or specs it the guitar - Some custom shops are just special and most aren't

Funnily enough I thought the 59 custom shop sounded the best, even if Ariel said it was the cheapest. Seemed to have the most clarity

This shows how much of snobism we all have, or for better say how much we put an extra on sthg we want to feel better. BTW apart from the great idea of including Pete's one, you MUST repeat one of the guitars in this sort of playfull vids.
