And today we ask the question "Can Pete ever have bad tone?" The answer, my friends, is no.

The ordinary VC 40 is brilliant but opt for the EL34s. They give a much more ‘focussed’ tone than 6L6s. (I swapped after about 1000 hours, just to be on the safe side.)

Great demo chuck full of info...im pretty much sold on one of these,spring reverb of course...I like the vintage looking Marshall 2-12 cabs...that would go nice with one of these and could also be used with my 62 bassman head etc.You guys are great players and I can tell you like this amp a lot, that says a lot to me,thanks,
@bjrnsteinarverby88755 жыл бұрын
Much more focus on the D here, and its also generally louder in the mix, and not much tweeking on the amps makes this comparison a bit vague for me.

Hello I would like to know if whether the V40 takes the pedals much better than the V40 Deluxe. In the immediate future, I would need something to marry my pedals. But I noticed that I am eyeing more and more on the Fender Deluxe Reissue. The V40 Deluxe is more oriented on that side. I wonder if I would not buy the V40 Deluxe. But in the immediate future, the most urgent thing is to get me a pedal platform. For the Fender Deluxe or clone, I can wait.
@davidkieltyka97 жыл бұрын
I think the idea with the faster Fender tremolo speeds was to use a fairly low depth setting for a vibrato-y effect. At least that was the idea in 1961 or so. :)

Agree with Pete 100% on the digital reverb. Now, the main problem is in the last month I bought a 68 Vibrolux reissue and on impulse a rocker 15 to practice quietly on. Now I want (no I need) the Deluxe. How many lives do I have left? Your fault Pete.

I don’t find the amp to be fendery - it’s way more akin to a Vox amp as the highs are very pronounced and not as softened like a fender - the only fender aspect is the EQ curve which is slightly scooped, the over driven sound sounds closer to a blues Jr as well. It’s a great amp none the less but not as fendery as people say.

I really wish they could get more of these Victory amps over in America so I could try one out. The closet store to me that has them is a 9 hr drive one way. I'd sell a couple of my Fender amps to get a Victory if they are as good ( to me ) as these guys make them out to be. But I wouldn't want to do that without trying one first. Oh well. First world problem I guess.
@claytonmurrayguitar5 жыл бұрын

I currently have a hot rod deluxe and (sorry Pete) I just don't get on with it. I've tried swapping tubes, swapping speaker to Alnico creme but still I find tone doesn't do it for me. Is the V40 similar in tone to the HRD or will it get me closer to the older fender amps with the greater mid scoop and tighter eq? Is the V40 a step up from the HRD if just using the clean channel? Or is it actually too similar for it to be worth it?
