Once you get close to the price you tell your woman that you're getting a great deal on one and that they're letting you put it in layaway. She'll have no problem with a couple of hundred in a layaway. She'll think you've matured because you're getting what you want without looking selfish by blowing a large chuck of money. She just won't know that you've been saving that large chuck for a little while. It'll still take a little while to get, but at least you'll get it. 🤷♂️

Which of these Les Pauls was your favourite?
@onenotesolo2563 жыл бұрын
@@andertons the second one that Pete played - you pulled a face when he hit the first lick and I think I was making the same face with nice headphones cranked. I’ve had a Collector’s Choice for some years and I think these Murphy Labs are giving that series a run for their money (quite a lot of money as it turns out). My fave sounds from an LP are the middle position with both volumes rolled off a bit, or the bridge pup with the volume backed off a touch and tone rolled off as far as 4 or 5 (TM J. Bonamassa). You get the clarity of a clean note at the beginning with the warmth of the overdrive to fatten it up, almost like running the two sounds in parallel. And if you get a great rhythm sound with those settings, you are guaranteed a great lead tone to pop through the mix when you roll the volume back to 10. Really great video, and chapeau for the tones and playing, gents.

I tend to think a thick neck on a guitar makes me hold and fret differently which gives me a better tone- it forces me to be more deliberate. But then it must be different for everyone- if you like the feel then you’re going to play better.

I think it is really interesting to see, how Lee transforms when he demos a guitar. When someone is sitting next to him and observing while he is playing on his own, he seems self conscious and a little bit stiff in his playing style. Almost like he doesn’t know exactly what to play, and maybe he worries about what the other person is thinking about his playing. But as soon as he’s jamming with someone talented or playing on top of a good backing track, it looks like he’s forgetting about everyone else around him, and he suddenly looks so free and confident! And it impacts his playing a lot - he sounds extremely good and his technique is amazing, when he’s jamming with Pete or a backing track. I know the feeling from myself. When someone asks me to play something for them, I feel shy and self conscious. But as soon as nobody is around or when I’m in the zone, I can play much better and more confident. The Captain and Pete are extremely inspiring to watch/listen to, and Lee’s transformation is amazing and a grear motivation for many players out there. Myself included!

It's just not easy...any of it...whether its buying a guitar, amp or pedals, you do your best to choose (some go as far as blind fold hahaha!) but for me anyway its only months later when I'm over the honeymoon, played it in all its different applications; home, recording, rehearsal, gigging etc do I know. I once bought an original '63 strat, a great guitar people (including me) hold up as their dream guitar but after a year or so I just had to be honest that I wasn't playing it because the tone, feel and playability of my custom shop '64 2016 NAMM Special was preferable so sold it with no regrets. I've had an Analogman King of Tone on by board forever which I will never part with, yet am always changing out distortion and delay pedals. Amp wise I always go back to some sort of decent Fender yet keep trying others. I've come to the conclusion it's a journey, not a destination...just remember to enjoy it.

To be fair they’re really not competing against each other for the same market so I’m not sure how relevant that would be 🤷🏼♂️ Unsurprisingly the Custom Shop one is the best quality guitar. If you’re super serious about guitar and it’s within your budget then I fail to see why you’d buy one of the others. If you can’t afford it, or can’t afford it sufficiently easily to justify the cost, that’s when you go for the Gibson, and then in turn the Epiphone. They’re all good guitars, but guitars are like pretty much everything else… the more expensive ones tend to be better.
