@@michaelschack You certainly put that assertion to the test in this video. In that sense Roland should be very happy with your review. That said, I would like to see another player with a light touch work with it to ascertain how responsive it is to highly nuanced playing and a wider dynamic range of hits. Toms are easy, snares harder, and hi-hat triggering is the toughest nut to crack for e-drums to emulate properly.

Finally ROland makes a kit with realistic-sounding toms. One area of note that is never mentioned where touchscreens are concerned is accessibility. There are blind drummers, myself included, and we do want to play eDrums. But we're being left behind by all eDrum manufacturers. I've been working on this for years and sadly nobody, Roland included, is willing to implement accessibility features directly into the module even when the offer is there to develop it for them for free, so we still can't access most features of the module without memorising every menu. However at least Roland haven't taken the buttons away. Is the app fully comprehensive, I.E can it control every single feature and setting possible on the module or are there still instances where you'd need to use the module interface? Are the apps platform native, or written in some cross-platform language so they too won't support assistive software?

The one should have been equipped with touch screen and control knobs anyways. Also, it is still not clear if rim click/cross stick sound is possible to get by its own if you strike head and rim( hoop) simultaneously. Usually there’s priority of one zone prior over the other which is no right thing . To me, it’s a major aspect when it comes to a snare drum. Overall, I’m glad a new product hits the market!
@FrostedJrАй бұрын
The last thing I want to be doing in a live setting is trying to touch buttons on a touch screen while playing. Also they are just laggy as hell.
@laptoplesАй бұрын
I agree !!!! That's what a rim shot is !!! Both hit at the same time and it gives you that high ringing, like in reggae music. I've been trying to get that sound on my TD27 and digital snare, but it's just not even close to the same as acoustic. I love harmonics on acoustic snares. It seems like an easy solution.... When you hit the rim and head at the same time, you can choose the type of high pitched ringing ??? Right ? I hope that's addressed on this new module, otherwise, they didn't really move the needle far in my opinion.

It gave flexibility to the UI designer of course, but think about for a second.... if the UX is well thought out would you really need that flexibility ?? And of course it's error prone and will be quite erratic performing live. Instead of having touchscreens, just let the user connect to it with a tablet would be better choice. VSTs use MIDI v1 still which is 7bit and only 0-127 and 16 layers of dynamics only whereas the processing engine in V-Drums has 16000 steps of resolution along with positional, interval and left and right hand sensing. There’s even hi-res midi built in for when software catches up one day. Try a kit to experience it. Soundworks has 18 dynamic layers x 8 variation and 5 mics per instrument so fantastic to use too and feels realtime with the V71 driver. It’s very impressive.

It will be difficult for any other brand to beat this quality, hardware included. That's why you'll find Roland on the main stages (look at how many SPD-SX sampling pads you see there), V-Drums included. Many have been able to afford - the hardware quality also plays a big role in their choices - and make money as a drummer with those. Look at how many musicians are using a Mac...despite the price. So no, none other brand will knock this kind of quality "cheaper", as cheaper stands for less endurance and quality. These instruments are suited to be hit hard and loud.

echt geen hond kan iets met deze review/reclame het zegt helemaal niks over dynamiek (als hij al weet wat het is), het zegt niks over de sound, want het is 1 grote storm van sounds. Leuke show en dat is het.

You still need SUPERIOR DRUMMER 3 aggg Roland …
@Drum2Ай бұрын
I use the TD50x for external events drumming, and I use Superior Drummer 3 and DW SoundWorks in my home studio when recording drum covers in midi format to my DAW. The ability for people now to have the amazing SoundFont kits and play them live on stage without the need for a dedicated laptop is simple amazing for them! that and the many other improvements around the module and the kits.
@onomatopoeidiaАй бұрын
You don’t need it actually. Soundworks comes with it and you can build your own sample library in Soundworks if you want because it’s open source. Sample your fave percussion and build your own library. 18 layers of dynamics x 8 x 5 mics

9k for this ? and still sounds crap...

As usual about 6000.00 overpriced
@DAnthony14Ай бұрын
Usually I’d say overpriced but this one seems like it’s actually worth the money ! Roland did their big one here. I’ll give credit where it’s due
@aquateen777Ай бұрын
@@DAnthony14 I agree, when you consider all the different instrument sounds, overhead sounds/mics, room sounds, it's basically a completely drum recording package. Even if you went with an acoustic kit, you'd still spend a pretty penny once you factor in cymbals, mics, stands, and of course a nice sounding room to record in. If you're not going to record with it I don’t see the point, but these kits are very capable creation tools when you put the time in to learn the module fully.

Same atrocious sounds with machine gunning. Incredible that they cannot overdo themselves

I found the person that can't afford this!
@galgogergoАй бұрын
@@Scolecite why would I want to pay for this? I was hoping they're going to release something that's on par with the Mimic Pro, or at least the sounds of the Strata Prime. Too bad, it's a missed opportunity imo
@ScoleciteАй бұрын
@@galgogergo Nothing compares to the Roland digital snare, hi-hat and ride. I use SD3 sounds anyways. What part of this demo has you underwhelmed?
@silotxАй бұрын
They are not atrocious they sound much better but the machine gunning is still there.
@michaelschackАй бұрын
Go check it out, bring your own sticks and headphones, come to a demo clinic. I’ll prove you’re actually wrong, except for the fact that my drumming technique is not always very dynamic 😉
@pd2210Ай бұрын
Still isnt worth $9k! And ride sounds like crap. Roland needs to stop being so greedy!
@michaelschackАй бұрын
If that Ride really would sound like crap, more people would comment on it in such a constructive way. 😉
@onomatopoeidiaАй бұрын
The ride has no sound…you choose, build whatever you want it to sound like or sample your own.
