pwede po ba kukuha ng mass comm major in journalism? kasi sa nakikita ko passion ko po talaga yong writing, then more on public speaking po ba? hope po ma replayan. Actually, 1st yr college na ako taking IT. kaso di talaga ako masaya sa course ko, and hindi talaga para sakin. Kinuha ko lang to kasi dito ako nakapasa nung entrance exam, pero ngayon nag sstruggle na talaga ako 😭

Hi Day! If that’s what you want to take or that’s what is closest to your interest, you can take AB Journalism instead. They have a separate program. Regardless of your course, you can pursue writing after graduation, but the subjects in Comm and Journ will give you more opportunities to improve your skills. Hello po maam, I was thinking of doing AB Communication or Multimedia Arts in DLSU-D. I wanted to ask on what kind of math is in communication po? I'm really confident sa math skills ko po but hindi sa calculus. So I just wanted to ask :> and which of the 3 major/tracks are the best for real life? Hi John, very manageable naman ang Math subjects ng AB Communication, I don't remember taking calculus, so nothing to worry about =) Regarding your question about the best track to take, I think it's important to consider what you want, then pick the specialization that aligns most with that. I took PR because I was genuinely interested in it. Our then-professor was also very good (Mr. Polo). His teachings centered around building relationships. AB Communication is a flexible course. You'll be able to find a job in whichever major you select. In the real world, your program or school can open some doors for you. But your adaptivity and resourcefulness are what will get you through that door. For your last query, you can take any Master's program that you like as long as it does not require you to be a graduate of a specific program. I was taking Political Economy before (Master's), and I had a great time. I just stopped because I had to move somewhere else. Again, pick a program that aligns with your interests. Ayun, ang haba na pala! Anyway, tingin ko madiskarte ka so I'm sure you'll do great! Thanks for stopping by =)

Well as a AB Comm student you should try Communication arts because based on my experience before I take AB Comm course I take a BS education it's more Demo teaching most in the subject not like in AB COMM mas marami ka pong struggles kapag nag educ ka po kaya po mas maganda po na mag Mass Comm ka po 😊😊

Hi Floofy, you can improve your communication skills regardless of the course you enroll in (as long as you put in the time and effort). It’s just that taking AB Communication will provide more opportunities for you to hone your skills as a communicator, whereas taking BS Education will focus more on teaching methods and principles. It is really up to you. I think you should pick whichever aligns with your strengths and interests. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best in your college life! =)

Hi Muffins! Yes, it's needed (especially for Photography classes). I'd recommend getting your own, so you don't have to worry about renting and making extra payments if you need to use the camera for a longer time or damage the unit. I think some institutions prefer to call it "Communication" instead of "Communication Arts", kasi BA naman na sya (Bachelor of Arts- field of discipline that focuses on arts and social sciences). Hello, it would depend on the number of subjects that can be credited (and your school's policy regarding shifting courses). Typically, it only takes a long time if the program you are previously from belongs to an entirely different field of study. So let's say, if BS in Aviation ka, then mag shift to AB Comm, most likely konti lang yung macredit na subjects. And that means it will take you more time to finish the course. Hi Des! It depends. During our time, we were required to rent or purchase our own DSLR cameras for photography classes. Assigned movie editors also had to buy editing software. The rest are normal schooling expenses na such as thesis fees, book binding fees, transpo fees (for research-related trips), etc,. Yung pagkagastos nya is madiskartehan naman =) Based on my friend who took up Engineering, mas marami sila gastos hehe. Hope that helps, thank you =)

Hi Samantha, both AB Communication and Journalism involve a lot of writing and research, but there are course tracks in AB Comm (ito yung gusto mong maging specialization- typically, you can choose from Media Production, Public Relations, and Advertising). I'm not sure with other unis, but according to my friend who took Journalism, the subjects are more centered on research din, but with news editing and production. Hope that helps, thank you =)

Hi again Sam, from what I know, the only difference is that Mass Communication focuses more on the media aspect of the Communication program (the type used for larger masses, hence the term Mass), while AB Communication is broader. Hi! I'm an upcoming freshman in DLSUD this upcoming school year & I chose AB Comm as my program! Regarding po sa 3 majors na you mentioned, are we going to choose na agad between these 3 in our 1st year or sa 3rd year pa po? Another question po, what kind of system does DLSUD offer in terms of section assignations? Do we go by section po just like we did in SHS na same section throughout the school year or will we have different classes with other people, randomized by courses, like halo-halo po talaga? Hi A! That's good to know 💚 During our time, 3rd year pa yung pilian ng majors, I think it would still be the same =) DLSU-D follows a block sectioning system. You'll be with the same peers until graduation unless you become an irregular student (where you'll take most of your classes with students from different programs that offer the same subjects). Pwede rin mag iba yung set of classmates mo if you purposely decide to enroll in a different schedule, or if maubusan ka ng slots and you have no choice but to take the subject in a different class. Hi Showie, it may depend on the college or university you plan to attend, as well as the course requirements. Aside from the tuition fee, there are miscellaneous expenses na dapat paghandaan (DSLR camera, production expenses, software if needed, research-related expenses, etc.,).
