I love your guys' reactions as true star wars fans. Also, Diego Luna is a great actor and I love the Cassian Andor character. But as a white guy, I am also tearing up and smiling when I see yall clearly enjoying the representation and it isn't lost on me that the "someone like me" line has that extra layer of meaning. So happy to see these new chapters for Star Wars for everyone. Thanks for the great reactions.

It also fits extremely well alongside the police overresponse and sense of entitlement to authority thing. Show up, throw your dick around, beat up a random woman and shoot her boyfriend for objecting, fight exactly two (unless you count Brasa, then 3) guys, start screaming about how actually you're surrounded and they are everywhere.

I also love how at this point, the catalyzing antagonist character is motivated by two people being killed. In his attempt to resolve that - even more people died, and all the things his superior officer wanted to avoid happened, and he's the only one who knows just how bad things are about to get because of the attention it's going to bring from the Empire directly.

Some calling Andor boring I disagree. It feels of a very serious and mature type of series. I like it. It’s different.
@benjaminroe311ify2 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. Maturity in Star Wars began with the Prequels when we started to get insight into the Galaxy politics... Conversations between the Senators and Chancellor, the Queen and Senators etc. People called that boring too. But it ISN'T. The power struggles between factions, the Republic, the Seperatists, the Trade Federation, Mandalore, The Banking Clans, the Hutts, The Pyke Syndicate etc... Now you have this Corporate Sector concurrent with the Empire. Geez it's a damn rich universe now. Andor is a masterpiece that has been built on the shoulders of great world building here or there across so many series. AMAZING! Funny that one of the highest quality Star Wars offerings of all times is a sequel of a sequel... but then here we are!

The opening title moment adds Percussion instruments. I love the scaffolding and the lifter droids. Some droids are yellow and red matching the transportation carts. Fiona Shaw also played aunt petunia evans Dursley from Harry Potter . The shape of opening hatch matches the symbol on the patches of the dead crew. Lupin is more worried about who can steal the unit for him rather than the unit itself and where it was stored. Cassian is less afraid of the empire than the local cops. Lupin hints that he did his homework how else would he know where cassians Foster father was hung. Cassian applied both the rules he learned from lupus in rogue one. Removing the sign so invading forces can not navigate is guerrilla warfare.

Regarding police brutality I actually see that scene completely different. For me the one in charge of that squad realises that this guy is too stressed in that situation, already made a mistake and will probably make more if they just carried on like that. So the best way to proceed is to just get rid of him, take his weapon so that he cannot hurt anybody else, and once they get back to base, he can be processed/investigated/punished. Let's not forget that even if Cassian is the good guy in this (since we know the whole story), those guys are just people prosecuting a potentially dangerous criminal that killed 2 officers. They don't know the whole story behind it, on how the Empire is being ruled by a dark force whose only purpose is to rule the entire galaxy taking away the freedom from the people. They are simply chasing a killer. Cassian himself said in Rogue One that even though they fight for freedom, they are killers and have done some terrible stuff in order to get said freedom.

I think Bix, at this point, was already involved somewhat with the beginnings of the Rebellion. She is, after all, the one in contact with 'the buyer' Luthen. But I think she probably keeps that to herself as much as possible to keep her friends, including Timm, safe. Probably the reason why she didn't clue him in on anything at all. Which, unfortunately, led him to snitch on Cassian because he got jealous or whatever.
@benjaminroe311ify2 жыл бұрын
Bingo!
@rb3k1572 жыл бұрын
I don’t think he was jealous at all. I think he knows cassian is a shady guy who gets in trouble and he wanted to protect the girl he loved from getting caught in the middle of something bad that cassian does. It wasn’t bc he thought she liked cassian or something dumb like that 😂 it was him wanting to protect Bix
@opsatr2 жыл бұрын
@@rb3k157 Oh, yeah, yeah. Definitely. I just wasn't in the mood to elaborate on his reasons in my comment above so opted for that short cut. But in my comments elsewhere, I did say that I think he thinks he's protecting Bix or pulling her away from Cassian, the bad influence. (It's all included in the 'or whatever'.) 😛 Although, I won't go so far as saying he wasn't jealous AT ALL. I think it's a combination of those two. Maybe primarily to get Bix away from bad Cassian and his shenanigans, with some added green factor. 😉 So basically, this was the unfortunate case of Bix and Timm trying to protect each other from something, but ended up getting each other (and themselves) in even more trouble and heartache...
@benjaminroe311ify2 жыл бұрын
@@rb3k157 I think it's both. Very hard to not be jealous when he was a past boy friend of hers and he knew how he was. Dangerous AND charismatic etc. I agree with you. Overall he was being protective but the feeling was exacerbated by jealousy... most likely. We could ask him. But he got shot dang it.
@opsatr2 жыл бұрын
Oh! Also... about the box... It does seem to be some useful piece of tech... Cassian 'left' it somewhere closer to the other door because he didn't realize that Luthen was going to blow the door. And Luthen... why would he not tell Cassian to get it first before he blew the door, if it was something useful for the rebellion? I was trying to think about that... Maybe Luthen doesn't think it's all that important. Cassian does. But maybe Luthen doesn't. After all, he came here when Bix called, not because of the box, but because Cassian, who he wanted to meet, is willing to meet him now. He's not really here for the box. He's here for Cassian. If Cassian turns out to be not worth it, he's fine with getting the box. But that's just secondary. Plus, maybe it's Rule #1. 😛 Don't carry anything that you don't control.

The only thing I can say is that they mention Andor's planet had an "imperial" accident which could be something they took credit for afterwards but I find it hard to believe the Republic would demolish his home world. Just to try to clarify timelines
@benschroeder40362 жыл бұрын
Maybe the accident and subsequently making the world off-limits was to keep something hidden from the galaxy at large. The mine looked abandoned (post accident that killed his biological parents?) when Cassian was a kid, but that tribe was still surviving. The mine was an eyesore, but the world didn't seem uninhabitable. Maybe the designation in the computer is just a smoke screen.
@brandonjoseph44952 жыл бұрын
@@benschroeder4036 Also, Luthen says that Cassian's father was hanged in the town square, but we see him and all the other kids on the planet where there was the mining "accident." We also know from Rogue One that Cassian's parents were involved with the early start of the Rebellion. Maybe the Rebellion on the mining planet was discovered and murdered and then they left all the kids to die there to cover it up.
@benjaminroe311ify2 жыл бұрын
There could be a lot of reasons the Emperor and his beauracracy would classify an accident or event that happened during the Republic as an Empire event etc. To cover up one thing or another or to take credit of one thing or another or to make it clear that Kenari is a Empire holding etc. I presume from the comments of Marva and the time stamps and ages of Andor that this crash ship event on Kenari and when he gets taken is during the Clone Wars. It's obvious that Cassian is old enough in BBY 5 on screen that he was born during the times of th Republic and his parents probably worked and died in that disaster or perhaps something else related to the mine. That's why he looks at it so whistically. GREAT story building. Amazing.
@benjaminroe311ify2 жыл бұрын
@@brandonjoseph4495 Pretty sure the guy with Marva was his "dad" and he was hung the town square in FEST. Cassian was a baby during the Republic not the rebellion. Pretty sure Marva and the Dad were seperatists. That is what matches the timeline. Pretty sure the people in the crashed ship were Republic spies that had sepeeratist isignia as a ploy. Palpatine had a lot of clandestine pet projects even when he was chancellor as we well know.
