Since you guys don't seem to be aware, Mon Mothma is the "Bothan spies..." lady from Return of the Jedi. She was also the Rebel leader in Rogue One who introduces Cassian to Jyn. She and Bail Organa are the two heavy political hitters of the Rebellion. She's also been a background character in Clone Wars. Had Padme survived Revenge of the Sith, Mothma, Organa, and Amidala would have been the big three of the Rebel Alliance.

Lots of recognizable faces this episode. Vel is The Waif from GoT and was in the Hated in the Nation episode of Black Mirror, one of the guys in her group was Lieberman in The Punisher (and he's also currently on The Bear), the younger looking boy in her group was in the Shut Up and Dance episode of Black Mirror and The End of the Fucking World, the head Imperial officer at the Security Bureau was Qyburn in GoT, and Karn's mother played Harry Potter's neighbor Figg in the beginning of Order of the Phoenix. Also for eagle-eyed viewers, Luthen's shop houses what seems to be the Starkiller armor along the back wall.

11:28 Coruscant was capital of the Republic, so when the Empire happened, it was just a reorganization of the government. Life continued as normal. (Unlike the separatists, who got completely screwed by Palpatine.) And in "Tales of the Jedi,", Dooku noted that Qui Got had never seen a tree, being born on Coruscant. The only green thing on that planet is Yoda. Shame you missed the Saw Guerra mention. That guy's everywhere.

Andor deserves every Star Wars fans’ attention; hell, anyone a fan of drama should be into this. It is exactly the more mature exploration of this galaxy that we needed, and it’s just SO WELL MADE. The cinematography, the dialogue, the gradual development of characters and the granular world building is all expertly done - frankly, it exposes how badly executed BOBF and Kenobi were. Andor is the perfect complement to Mandalorian. We can scratch our need for the flashy video game-like spectacle bathed in glorious comic/toon/game/toy/book lore in one and sit down and get serious with Stellan Skaarsgard in the other. I hope fans can move past the lack of laser swords and the childish “slow” complaints The episode divisions are pretty worthless, and might actually be a detriment since some folks don’t know about the intentional 3 episode arc structure. They feel like they can stop and give up after 1-2 when 3 completes the story with a bang.

You saw SCARIF in ROGUE ONE, it was the tropical planet that was the center for Death Star construction and is where the plans were stolen by Andor and Jyn Erso. You saw Senator Mon Mothma as the leader of the Rebel Alliance in ROGUE ONE and RETURN OF THE JEDI (she, Padme, and Bail Organa also discuss forming such an alliance in a deleted scene in REVENGE OF THE SITH). You saw Sly Moore, the woman Mon Mothma doesn't want at dinner, in ATTACK OF THE CLONES and REVENGE OF THE SITH when she served as Palpatine's Chief of Staff (and possible lover). And again, the show cast and creators have said Andor is pretty much the only person from Kanari you see in the show so the other lady in the operation and the other miners are not from there, that's why none of them have his accent. His clothes being similar to someone else's makes sense because they're generic outer rim territory clothes. And since he left as a child, he doesn't have adult-sized Kanari gear anyway.

People often forget the closing scenes of Revenge of the Sith where you see Vader and the Emperor standing aboard a painted grey venator overlooking the construction of the first Death Star. That thing started construction either just before or immediately after the founding of the Empire. While we don't know for sure I like to speculate it started right after Attack of the Clones, we all know the Geonosians had the plans for it and the Clone Army occupied the planet at the end of that movie.

I think it was the quarterly pay for an entire "sector," not a garrison. I'm a bit fuzzy, but I think a sector in Star Wars encompasses multiple planets. Possibly multiple systems?

yes, sectors are multiple systems. I dont know if there is a canon number on how many it usually is, but it is a lot. The only number from legends I remember is: 8 Sectors = 1000+ inhabited systems with a fleet of ~200 Imperial Star Destroyers, although that number of ships is unusualy high in that example.

The ISB officer Dedra Meero is wrong though, isnt she? She thinks the imperial equipment Andor stole is part of a bigger organized operation, but its not. Andor just stole it because he could and its worth a lot. He wasnt hired to steal it and he didnt tell anybody about it untill he needed cash quick to leave the planet. An intelligence agency insisting on more concrete evidence before starting an investigation is hardly a bad thing. I dont want to get a visit from the secret police because some officer "had a feeling". Dedra has no evidence, so far she doesnt even know for sure that the starpath unit found on Ferrix is the same one that got stolen from her sector. She thinks it is, and in that at least she is correct, but from her conversation with her adjutant it doesnt seem like they know for sure.

Imperialism always has this great swag, because we know it works on people. Doesn't make the appearance itself bad, but the intention for what it is used behind it. Ironically, non imperialist rarely go that route because it is quite expensive to be this pompous, but spending money on good looking environments would still have benefits. Like, just look at some of the more beautiful European cities. A lot of what makes them that way are all the old and very detailed building, that came out of the mindset to show off their wealth and power to their neighbors. While we maybe not need that aspect, we can still appreciate that there was a lot of work and attention to detail put into all the craftsmanship that created those details, and it creates a varied and interesting background for us to look at. The simplistic brutalism we see within the empire nowadays is usually used for poor social structures. If you're lucky they maybe paint them in a something more colorful or add some greenery around but ultimately it is a money saving measure that can deeply affect someone's mentality when they have to live there.
