I think what makes this show so disconcerting is how realistic it feels. We've seen so many Star Wars deaths, but dying of a stroke? That's so normal and devastating at the same time. Just last month, my state voted on officially abolishing slave labor, but one of our nearby states with a large prison population didn't so it was like yeah...prison slave labor to aid the government is a bit too realistic...

The actor playing the "old timer" prisoner was in Batman (1989). He was the mugger that Batman holds over the edge in the beginning.

Loving this reaction and your appreciation for how fire this show is. Y'all GET it! One of my favorite small things in this episode is the shot after Vel leaves Mon Mothma's place and the camera holds on Mon. She's framed by the doorways in her house that kind of look like the Imperial cog/symbol of the Empire. The camera pulls away and the doorways close in on Mon slowly, slowly, just like the Empire is closing in on her in the show. GOD this show rules.

I watched an interview with Deera and Syril's actors and their sweetness was off putting after hating them so much. 😂 I am really looking forward to your stress levels in the next 3 episodes. I've never seen a Star Wars show or movie where I'm totally happy just hearing people talk. The writing is just so damn good. And the set design. I really can't tell in a lot of scenes what is real (a constructed set) and what is cgi.

It's super relevant when we think about countries where there a prisons just like this, places where humans are forced to labor for nothing, and their humanity is totally stripped away, and no one is hearing there struggle and agony. Places where no crime was committed accept be in the wrong place at the wrong time, or looking different then the majority group. The prisons we have in our world aren't all that different from the empire. We want to pretend like they aren't this bad, but some are actually much worse. This Star Wars show has more balls then most regular shows when talking about issues like mass incarceration and torture then most of the tv on air right now... it's an accomplishment and a master class in making sci-fi relevant to our culture and society. The fact that at a company like Disney this was able to be made is a miracle.

Kino had given up on the idea 💡 of escaping their imprisonment on Narkina 5, but, hearing that everyone on level 2 was basically executed, and the medical officer confirming it, along with blatant disregard for Ulaf's life, even if it _was_ a mercy kill, 🥺, was the _final,_ the *very,* *_very last straw!_* 😠😡

“Anybody who doesn’t like this show, I have to fist fight” THANK YOU!! I think it runs up against people with baby brains or people who just hear “Star Wars” and they’re out. Best thing I can say to pitch it to people is that if you like good writing and scifi like Battlestar Galactica or The Expanse, you’ll love this. I wasn’t even a big Star Wars fan after the Prequels and this hooked my shit right back in. Just think of how much you hate these bad guys. That’s good writing. It feels more real to see what they’re doing and they’re just shitty people in middle management and not like evil space wizards or whatever. Great show
