Honestly, I think it's excellent. I love the slow burn, the exposition. Obviously, when the episode ends and there's another week until we can watch the next, it sucks! - but it's of such a general high quality I think looking back on it (and for those who watch it all at once) there's such good world building that we're going to be really greatful for this live action lore in the beginnings of the rebellion.

100%, this is about story telling, characters, motives etc. it’s not going for the quick gun fights, as too much of this does not make a story. Their quick easy tricks that add nothing and are forgettable. The pace is perfect!!! This is what I want star wars to be. Real sets/locations mixed with new tech. I rate Andor highly!!!

I am 49 years old and I have NEVER seen a show which was so boring in 5 episodes in my whole life. The recipe for a show should be to start with a bang so that the viewers will watch the next episodes, but in Andor from the 1st episode to the 5th, absolutely NOTHING happend. You can't do that as a showrunner. Nobody with a functional brain cell is invested in this show. Nothing interesting is happening in this show so far and IF something is happening later, it is much too late. I watched the original trilogy countless of times, because the movies were NEVER boring, they were magical, but this show... it's even too much to watch it one time. There is absolutely nothing in it what made Star Wars great. This is NOT Star Wars. It's a boring story, with a boring protagonist and they just slapped Star Wars on it. Nothing magical about it. It even doesn't feel like Star Wars and people who like this show and claim that they are Star Wars FANS, are either lying to themselves or they are blind. The editing is horrendous, the music is forgettable, the story so far is mediocre... Just doesn't feel like Star Wars.

I personally love the slow pacing of the show. It’s a show after all, not a movie, they can afford to take things slow, develop the story over time, and throw in some scenes that might not add much but are still enjoyable. To me, I much prefer this slow pace, with beautiful establishing shots and great cinematography, versus a fast paced show that has more action which is nice but doesn’t build the story as organically.

The "unnecessary stuff we don't need" includes secondary character backstory, world building, and plot advancing. THIS IS AN ADULT STAR WARS SHOW! You're not gonna get half baked writing, feel good cameos, and memorable easter eggs. You will however get a riveting story (that doesn't have to do with protecting a child for once) with great writing, screenplay, and directing. stop looking at it like the original trilogy, that was made for children. this is an adult show and should be viewed as such...

I enjoyed this episode. Definitely slow, but it’s giving development to Cassian and the team which is great. I enjoy when they take time to flesh out these characters and love how natural the dialogue is without any jarring cuts. We won’t have any “Wade” characters in this show. They’re telling these stories in 3 episode arcs and given that this will be Cassian’s first job against the Empire we actually see, I think this episode being slow should be expected. As Cassian becomes more well-known, we’ll see the stakes ramp up as he gets on the Empire’s radar, likely with Syril giving information to Dedra and joining Imperial Security. Then, Mon Mothma and in turn Luthen will be under even more scrutiny as the Empire will suspect the Rebels having secret benefactors. This whole episode feels like the calm before the storm and I loved it’s vibe!

I find it both amusing and somewhat sad that this more mature take on the SW universe elicits constant complaint about slowness and lack of "action" from eternal fanboys like Theory et al. You're being presented with a subtle and sophisticated *_drama,_* kids. Allow it to stretch your mind and try to set aside your longing for explosions and light sabers. Personally, I am on the edge of my seat for every minute of every episode. I simply never imagined that SW could create such tension and suspense, such believable characters. That it could both fascinate and repel with the merest flickerings of expression on actors' faces, and the skill with which they deliver their lines. I am in awe of this show's creators, something I have not felt about SW for a *_looong_* time.

Thank you for your passion in making these videos. I love the pacing here ... in the past, some of the shows have rushed through important moments and left me wondering how certain characters could do what they did or how character arcs were skipped, leaving me questioning steps taken or abilities. In this show, the writers have really thought through who each character on screen is, whether the character is in the background, has a supporting role, or is one of the main focuses. They are not just there... they have a purpose; some miner while others are quite important. I like that. I like it when a show thinks through the background as much as the foreground and, through excellent writing, takes us on a journey. It doesn't have to be perfect b/c nothing is perfect ... it's a messy galaxy filled with messy places and messy characters trying to carve out their little piece in the galaxy or just trying to survive. Regarding the next episode, I think they will be executing the heist ... the writers seem to be grouping story arcs into three episodes per group. The overall story flows through, but the supporting stories cover three episodes.

i think Mon Motha's sour relationship with her daughter depicts how absent shes been in her daughter's life. On her off time she's spending time on the rebellion and it's costing her, her relationship with her daughter and maybe even her husband. My dad was highly absent from my life and when he was around no one wanted to spend time with him because we are used to not having him around, but obviously he wants to spend time with us because he's excited to be home with us.

As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I love this show. It’s building a real story, with relatable characters, and it’s not just slamming us with fan service. I don’t think Star Wars or any show needs to be constant “action”. Part of the beauty of this show is that you get to peak behind the curtain with characters like Mon Mothma. We get to see the struggles that these characters faced, and that makes the action we get in other films and shows that much more special.

I am thoroughly enjoying the show and the change of pace is so refreshing. There doesn’t have to be a giant reveal or callback to other movies/Easter eggs EVERY episode to keep my interest… the characters are so believable and their motivations are compelling. This feels so grounded in reality yet so believable for the Star Wars universe… it reminds me of some of the novels. Character building isn’t unnecessary, it’s essential - there needs to be stakes, and the stakes here so far feel so real. We know there will be action sequences and callbacks at some point in the show, let’s enjoy this superb storytelling, acting, score, and build up while we can.

I don't think the show needs a lot of action because it's tense. The slow pace is effective for this reason. We're given threads that are weaving together and then left to wait for things to happen similar to Luthen in his shop waiting for word. During that wait we're give more back story on how the empire views the universe and how people are not only being effected by them by how they're getting around it. I don't expect every show to be like this going forward, but I do enjoy that they're telling different types of stories in the universe that aren't just non canon anthologies.

I’m really loving this show! I enjoy that it’s taking things slower and giving us time to connect with these characters (since most of them are completely new to us). I think it’s doing a great job of building tension; this all feels like the “calm before the storm” or the “deep breath before the plunge.” I did want to see the dinner with Sly Moore, but it’s likely we’ll see her in the future anyway. I also like the dynamics that we’re seeing with Mon Mothma and her personal life as well. It shows how she’s sacrificing so much to take down the Empire, to the point where it even affects her relationship with her family. And I hope we get some cameos of other characters once we really see the Rebellion take off (like General Hera Syndulla!). Overall I’m enjoying this show, and I look forward to future seasons!

Not really sure what could have been cut. I really enjoyed all the scenes and didn't feel like there was much wasted or filler This is definitely a TV show and not a movie and so they are clearly leaning into that. Reminds me of Game of Thrones where the best moments were intense conversations more so than the dragons and fighting. All that stuff will come eventually but the build-up to the powderkeg going off is part of what will give it more impact. Definitely preferred over the paper-think characters we saw in the sequels, right? I think the key is in expectations. It's not helpful to over anticipate all the connections to stuff we know already. This show is interested in really just carving out a cozy corner of the universe and really diving into what it's like to actually LIVE in Star Wars.

Andor is progressing exactly the way and pace I hoped it would. The build up for the heist and gradual character development is really drawing me in. Dedra second guessing her instinct while investigating the stolen imperial tech. Karn lamenting his lost career and overbearing but perceptive mother. Andor and the rebels mistrusting each other while battling their nerves in the days before the heist. Luthen worrying about the outcomes and methodology of the mission he facilitated. And Mon Mothma fighting for the disenfranchised from within while her family grows distant. This is how a slow burn is done properly, and what i’ve wanted from StarWars for years.

I don’t get the bit around hoping they cut a load of it out and get to the point. I think what makes this show so good is the brilliant writing and character development over time. If you want darth Vader as much as possible in every other scene doing something darth vadery there’s plenty of other things you can see that in. In fact I’m not even sure how they would portray Vader in something like this, it’s quite an interesting thought - it’s almost like he wouldn’t really fit. The other bit I really like is the music where they’re completely doing the lazy call backs to classic Star Wars themes at the expense of actual emotion.

I understand it may feel slow if you're waiting for the big lore and intersections with the greater Star Wars universe, but it is SO IMPORTANT for them to take the time to flesh out these characters. They are new, but if they build it right, someday they won't be new, they'll be familiar, beloved or hated characters because they actually took the time to get to know them. We didn't grow to love Ahsoka, Rex, or Ezra in a day, we love them because we had SEASONS to learn about them. Everyone is allowed to have preferences, and if you don't enjoy this style of media that's fine, but I hope people see that in order to build something worthwhile, you need a good foundation. I for one am incredibly impressed with this show. The dialogue is so much more organic and dynamic than the previous SW shows.
