The show is very well done and I see this as setting a new bar for Star Wars. The family friendly stuff is important but stories like this for more mature fans has been sorely needed and this delivers and then some. I wonder all the same how George would feel about actual swearing in Star Wars? At the same time I am here for it. I want more from Tony Gilroy in Star Wars. The accents would be classed as British, not European. As a Scottish person it was great to hear some more Scottish voices in Star Wars. I wish we could get David Tennant doing a live action Star Wars role in future.

This tone is exactly how I thought Obi Wan would be, and should have been. I hope Disney learns that people are loving this and incorporates the feeling into more of their projects, primarily Acolyte. Loved everything about these first 3 episodes. The opening scene in the brothel when Andor was talking to the hostess, it took it's time to breathe and the scena lasted a few minutes. In Obi-Wan or Boba Fett that would have been a 30 second scene and would have moved on quickly. This show feels so confident. It doesn't need to jump you from scene to scene and get to the action sequences; it knows it can stand just on it's writing and acting.

In terms of Cassian’s parents: I think he, and others, are referring to Maarva and Clem (her companion on the ship from the flashback). I think they end up being his adoptive parents. Luthen mentions that Cassian’s father was “hung in the square.” That has to be Clem. I actually like that part when the main antagonist gave the speech to his men, it seemed like for a moment he was questioning his actions, when the other guy mentioned something about Andor being armed and dangerous there was a brief moment where something made him think, then he went into the speech with that on his mind and kind of struggled a bit to say what he had planned to say which came across as phoney, hence the yawn moment from the guy.. which actually wasn't a yawn, it was more of a looking away as it was uncomfortable to be there listening to him blunder his speech. I didn't pick up on it at first but I rewatched it. Someone else mentioned they think he could end up defecting and changing sides. Makes me recall the conversation he had with his superior in episode one, when he tells him that the two guys that died had started it, maybe he feels this is the truth but is on some kind of mission to prove himself but is facing an inner struggle.

I think missed in most reviews. Is the theme of radicalization. From Andor actions he’s now committed becoming a solider and from Tim’s death beck is basically becoming a terrorist Andors friend at the scrap yard is seen brooding showing he is going to become a resistance. Fighter and is prob the one who tied the ship up killing the one Corp guard. and from the other side the corpo officer who was trying to do the right thing catching a murderer now he’s going to become much more extreme in his action. It’s the beginning of a rebellion but you can see on both sides the pain death and motivation from everyone involved and you can understand everyone’s point of view. It’s a tragedy.

The episodes aren't short. The pacing is breakneck. It feels way shorter than it is, but it moves so smoothly that time goes by so quickly. There are so many recognizable actors in these first three episodes. Every scene I was pointing out "oh, that person was in X, they were just in Y" to my significant. Interesting that they didn't subtitle during the flashbacks on Kenari, but you understand what's going on. It was "show, don't tell" perfected. They are trusting the audience, finally.

I really thought those few scenes with Fiona Shaw, B-bot, and the corporate cops are really telling, especially when she is setting there talking about the clanking sounds, about it’s not about what they mean when they’re happening it’s when they stop is when you should worry. I’m pretty sure we won’t see anymore from Fiona Shaw but damn I would really like to. They never seem to get the ages quite right. Little Leia was supposed to be 10 but clearly was almost a toddler maybe 5 years old at the most. Han was supposed to be in his late teens or maybe 20, but was almost 30 in Solo. Padme doesn't age at all between phantom menace and attack of the clones while Anni ages about 15 years. At least. And in the original Star wars Luke and Leia never really looked the same age even though they were supposed to be twins, (at least were changed to be twins after empire strikes back, that was a retcon). And then there's the whole Ben Kenobi aging process between the show Kenobi and a New Hope where he seems to age about 40 years in what is supposed to be 8 to 10 years. Some of that can be forgiven as long as the acting is good, and acting in Andor is very good. The actress that played young Leia was not very good in an actress that actually was 10 or 12 would have been an improvement. Most people agree that the actors playing young Anakin were both not very good. So far the actor playing young and/or is good, but he doesn't speak a word. Probably because he's English like most of the other cast lol

One strength of this show seeming more mature I think is the absence of a wise cracking or cute child sidekick. This was not a thing in the original trilogy. But whether you're talking about rebels or bad batch or clone wars or mandalorian or Kenobi, probably because disney, they've always jammed a kid into what used to be a fairly adult sophisticated and realistic environment that is supposed to suspend your disbelief. When you start including five-year-old girls repairing space stations and alien babies that constantly need a babysitter, it just changes the dynamic from an exciting adult drama to a family-friendly show. And there is room for both, but Andor really feels much more like the original Star wars since anything since rogue one. Which also lacked an annoying kid component.

I loved the first episode, 2nd didn’t do much for me but 3 was solid as well so I’m 100% in

I feel like all of all the other SW Disney+ shows are basically the animated shows becoming live action, (CW style) where Andor is a legit show that would be strange to ever see it as one of the animated series. I’m totally ready for more shows like this.

Your last moment you hated, I loved it. It showed he was inept whiteout saying he was inept.

Not having Rogue Squadron depresses me to such a great extent. It was something I was really really really looking forward to. What a bummer. I was so taken by the little video introduction Patty Jenkins did when she roller-bladed up to a car and changed into a rebel alliance flight suit and walked toward an X-Wing. What a damn shame.

A show would be great in that world.

For me it is another example of Kathleen Kennedy not having a plan and running Lucasfilm like a rudderless ship. The buck has to stop with her on directors and projects getting announced then cancelled. My only hope is that Disney can step in and appoint someone else with a strong vision and that what we have gotten from Tony Gilroy here sets a new bar for a new wave of Star Wars content.

@@MassiveHappyClapper I hope you are right. There is a date you might want to keep an eye on. October 30 marks Kennedy's 10th anniversary at Lucasfilm. It is speculated that it is when we might see her announce that she will be retiring on June 30, 2023, the same day that the movie she is producing, Indiana Jones 5 is released in theaters. Disney CEO Bob Chapek has already stripped Kennedy of all responsibilities for Star Wars TV Shows and movies and given them to Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. The only responsibility Kathleen Kennedy has left is the non-Star Wars IP like Indy 5.

@@patrickmusson4571 I hope you are right. I have a feeling someone new can take Star Wars to new heights. There is so much untapped potential in the EU books.

Did you see the story that James E Jones is finally retiring from doing any further Darth Vader voice acting. There's also a great story about how they worked on the voice for Obi Wan and how he has given permission to use the same technique to recreate his voice in the future

Waited for all 12 episodes to air before watching. Do not regret it one bit. Netflix streaming model is better vs. Week to week tv schedule.
