Andraz, you’ve become a kind of hero to me. I dreamt of doing exactly what you are doing when I was your age. But medical school, 24 hour shifts, and city living kept me from realizing my dream. You’re young and strong, and that’s the time to do what you do. One word I would use to describe your magnificent videos. Immersive. I guess the Teletubbie cam (very funny. I laughed out loud) view helps. Not so much watching you climb and ski and scrabble, but being there with you. You have a fine, dry sense of humor, so your narration is excellent. Your channel is not a vanity project at all. “Here I am on Aconcagua”, or whatever. It’s about the journey and not so much the destination. Sometimes you wisely abort a tour because of weather or snow conditions. That’s reality. With your keen sense of the hazards of alpinism, you’ll still be in the mountains at 90. Like John Muir said, “time spent in the mountains will never be subtracted from the sum of your life”. So you’ll live to be 115 at the rate you’re going. I’ve watched every video you’ve put on KZbin. Wow, how you’ve progressed. You should be #1 in outdoor adventure. I watch a lot of alpinism content, but once I saw your channel, I was hooked. Slovenia is a gorgeous country. And I’m glad to see you taking full advantage of it. Have a great Christmas, brother. And keep the videos coming.

I have been a history nerd since highschool 42 years ago with a long term fascination with WW1. This video was different because, to me, it brought a real human effect to the alpine war. The view around you gave me chills thinking of the men who fought and died in such a place so forbidding for men to live in. Great work.

Yep this area was Soška fronta - Isonzo Front. In summer it was hellish hot, in winter bitter cold. Since explosions tore so much rock debris that killed people, both armies had to drill into the mountain for safety. In august of 1915 Italian army defeated Hungarians on top of the highest mountain in the ridge. Since then fight occurred on plateau next to it where they drilled against each other in order to place explosives and blow up the enemy. Austro-Hungarians succeeded to detonate the front line on the plateau that was the largest explosion in this frontline in whole war. Lowered the plateau quite a bit. I visit this mountain every year, kind of pilgrimage . In summer I prefer to go there as early as possible since the sun otherwise still bakes everything. In winter if there is enough of snow, I hear people like to ski on the west face. Don't play with munitions if you find some. Black powder never goes bad.
@tiko46214 күн бұрын
Don’t play with mentions pffft. Jk it’s good advice. But in those conditions, anything that wasn’t sealed up nicely will be useless.

The battlefields of Alto Isonzo - Krn/Monte Nero, Monte Rosso and Monte Peschi. There are a lot of artifacts all over the area. Now, at 100 years after, it has a hint of romance, but what the soldiers (regardless of which army they were from) went through was hell. Dover la natura vince sopra la guerra....

Hi and happy Christmas! I was on the same ridge last summer. But I started in the north in the Soca valley and got further towards south. It was very impressive how many caves they once built and how hard the times might have been. According to politicians: Most of them would never start a war if they would have to face the horrors of war themselves. Sending others into hell is much easier then putting oneself into the warfield. Thanks for your great videos. It's always an adventure!!!

You are sure right about Politicians, they are only in it for themselves and not for the people they should serve. I spotted another rookie mistake when packing your sleeping bag away. Always start packing the sleeping bag into the stuff sack with the head end first, as you pack it, the sleeping bag gets less and you are more likely have a little bit of room to close the sack each time. I was told that when doing a Mountain leader course back in the 80's; it works.
