Thanks for this interview! I had heard back in the early eighties how much Andre played a big role in Prince’s upcoming. When you talk to him again can you ask him about the bass he played in the video Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad? Prince ended up used that exact same body style for the white guitar in the movie Purple Rain. Thanks bro!

Thanks KW for the kind words and watching the interview. I will take note and ask Andre next time he comes on the show about the design of the guitars.

Andre deserves so much credit. If I had been Prince, instead of being a one man band in the studio on those first records, I would've had Andre, Bobby, Gayle, Lisa, Dez and Fink in the studio with me playing all their instruments while I played guitar and vocals. I guarantee the albums would've SOUNDED better and more live and organic. I also would've had them involved in the songwriting and shared writing credit with them AND paid them well. If it wasn't for Prince's BAND in those beginning years, Prince wouldn't have made it like he did. So much props and respect go to each and every band member as well as Prince.
@musiciansreveal16 күн бұрын
Thanks DJ Myles. Would definitely been a different sound. Prince never said too much about his creative process. Guess he left it up to us for interpretation.

Do Me Baby is a masterpiece, man, from the basic concept to the changes to the lyrics!! Prince let us believe it was HIS and it helped in shaping his whole image as a songwriter and performer. I would've checked out your music a lot earlier if I knew YOU wrote and composed it. Shame.

Great story knowing the history of "Do Me Baby". Made me think more of the bass element to the song.
@zakiasimpson89285 ай бұрын
WellPrince had definitely written more popular songs , so I think it’s safe to say Prince is still a genius and probably contributed to song as well
@jeromejamies36415 ай бұрын
Prince would become what he became without Do me baby. Prince's vocals make it a masterpiece and no one could sing the song he did and the song was not even a hit in the charts. If Cymone was so talented why didn't he become a star, too, no one knows him but some Prince fans. No one would know him without Prince. Prince worked a lot harder than anyone around him, it was not just talent, but hard work and discipline. And now some old men tell stories and think they derserve something, thruth thiugh they were just not focused and lazy. It's the same with Morris Day and Jesse Johnson. Only Terry and Jimmy managed to get successful, cuz they learned from Prince's work ethic and are thankful and still appreciate him.
@patrickyoung76855 ай бұрын
The funny part is Andre Cymones most population song was written and produced by PRINCE! Because his own solo career was average at best! And isn't it funny now after PRINCE is dead and people come out of the woodwork making claims to songs. But no one made claims and or filed any lawsuits when the man was alive?
@jeromejamies36415 ай бұрын
@@patrickyoung7685liars and they realize in their older years how lazy they were compared to Prince and are so delusional to think they could have become as delusional as Prince.

Didn't know that Andre was involved and played on the first two records For You and Prince self titled, its strange Prince didn't give him credit for being part of those recordings especially when they were best friends definitely not the right thing to do- Those two records to me were overproduced and difficult to pull off live which is probably why Prince never did any of those songs live except possibly two
@musiciansreveal5 ай бұрын
Excellent comment. I never thought about the first two albums not getting a lot of concert play especially in later tours.
@bigpalmore5 ай бұрын
You must be on a different planet. Prince did a number of songs of his self-titled album on tour., such as the iconic I wanna be your lover, Why you wanna treat me so Bad, l feel for you, Sexy Dancer, Still Waiting. So you are definitely wrong.
@americangoldking5 ай бұрын
@@bigpalmore Always a critic lol I said with the exception of a few pay attention now none of Prince's first recording For You was played on tour because the record was overproduced, making it impossible live to play and the self titled record Prince was also overproduced but left room to play a few songs as stated live Lover, Why You Want To Treat me Bad, never heard Still Waiting live or Sexy Dancer you have to point those out because I don't believe he did the first recording was too overproduced for any of those songs to be played live so he left room on the second recording that was a big criticism of Prince early on and on other recordings like Sign O The Times and Adore
