My first Prince Concert was in 1981 and Andre Cymone was the bass player...So many times Prince would wander away from the mic and Andre would sing his parts-effortlessly...He is so low key and down to earth...He is the most underated talent to come out of that whole thing...When he left that band Prince lost something-Andre-Dez and Prince were hands down the best version of that band and when Dez left I lost all interest because I didn't like the direction after that...it's kind of sad all three of them never got back together...I can dream...But luckily for me I saw the whole thing up close and personal in Chicago at the best concert venue for what they were doing -THE PARK WEST...Sorry I was so very long winded.

Our Rock n' Roll culture was unique in America because solo artists could display the vocal and dancing skills, until the invasion of heavy metal. Rock 'n Roll was overlooked as other acts from different cultures saw the opportunity to controlled the masses with visual and digital mediums. It became more about the "look" than the music. They started wearing long hair and leather. Even Elvis was not too pleased about the invasion because he got censored a few times.

Prince had the record deal. He may have been controlling but he helped a lot of ppl become famous and get attention. I'm sure they helped him with some songs but a lot of what is said is to inflate their egos. He gave them a platform. It was up to them to build from that. Most of them didnt.

Andre seems real to me. He could definitely put Prince on blast but he doesn't out of love. Those two boys loved each other. Their connection is timeless. Prince spoke about his love for Andre. That said, yes Andre knew Prince very well 50 years ago for maybe 15 or 20 of those years but like us all we evolve as people. When I think back to the girl I was she's almost unrecognisable. No one can claim to really know me, only parts of me. We often look inwards to see how that person impacted on our lives + & - and rarely tend to walk a mile in their shoes. Was Prince supposed to give ALL those people his hard earned money for the rest of his life? Pay them fairly for the job they do yes, credit them properly yes, but continue to support them financially? Prince was not a millionaire when Andre left and ploughed his money back into his art I guess for new equipment recording space etc whilst looking after mom dad and family financially. Plus I'm sure his management dealt with financial matters as maybe it didn't interest him back then. If it was us, think about it what would we do at age 24? Walk a mile in their shoes. I think Andre understood that hence leaving and going to take care of his own business. Big respect to Andre. I have his last album 1969 and Black Man in America touched my whole being and is so so relevant today. Andre has more to come 👌

Andre was supposed to be Morris. But he wasn't the side man type. I wish he would have stayed in the Revolution. He was basically just like Prince. I wish he would have been the leader of The Time. But...

Funny hearing that Morris Day was a great drummer, yet I've never heard something that was impressive.

What do you call impressive ? .. Not all drummers necessarily have to have Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, Chris Coleman and Gavin Harrison type chops.

So what is in Andres' vault, I know he is talented, but from what I gather including what is in the vault, Prince wrote over 15k songs, and he played 27 instruments? He had 47 song that made the top 100, and, 19, that made the top 10, off 39 albums, where are Andres'?

André left because he felt he wasn't given enough credit for "Do Me, Baby", which he co-wrote with Prince. I also remember reading a comment from Quora about how André produced the song himself, although this wasn't confirmed. He felt left out in Prince's band, got into an argument with Prince, then left. Since the exit, he received 2 instances of shade: in "Lady Cab Driver" (Prince was jealous of André's height and attractiveness) and somewhere in The Time's "What Time is It?" album (Morris Day said that he disliked new wave). The good news, however, is that a few years later, Prince reached out to André to let him sing on "The Dance Electric", and André recalled in a recent interview that it was difficult losing his friend.

Oh I remember when Paul was in Prince's pet project The Family....Screams of Passion/Nothing Compares to you still kick to this day. It's funny how after Prince dies everyone wants to take credit for songwriting etc...and yet Prince was the only one who continued to produce amazing work for decades and none of these people had any real sustained success without Prince. Of course Andre produced Jody's first solo album, but Jody was a beloved established star in Shalamar. Where is all of his, Wendy, Applebbes or Paul's solo success. All yall have is Prince to talk about to get anyone to care....still getting careers off of Prince's legacy like vultures. lol
