Such a thoughtful, poised, and deeply moving performance... And this is quite simply the most sublime ottavino I have ever heard. Really, it should be the gold standard for all others in my opinion. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for these kind words! Matthias Griewisch really outdid himself and managed to disprove the common belief that ottavini are nothing but toys...

Que música tan hermosa y tranquila, que recuerda a otras lejanas épocas cuando el tiempo pasaba más lentamente y se vivía mas cerca de la naturaleza. Saludos

Outstanding performance! As ottavini go, this one is relatively large! Also, the part behind the wrestplank could seem unnecessary, and many ottavini have a triangular shape instead. But judging from the amazing sound, maybe it is not just deadweight and plays an acoustic role, though it is no soundboard? Anyway you can feel that it aims at being a superior instrument, not just a pocket virginal.

Indeed, it is by no means the smallest ottavino in existence! But as you say: this has benefits. The sound benefits from a larger body, as does the mechanism - the keys are just as wide as regular Italian harpsichord keys, and though they're a bit shorter and have shorter travel, this makes playing the instrument very comfortable

Wonderful!! Music, instrument and playing! What type of feathers are the plectra made of?
@AndreasGilger Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words :) at the time of the recording the instrument was (unfortunately) still equipped with delrin plectra, but I've since replaced them with crow feathers and it plays and sounds fantastic!

@@AndreasGilger it already sounded great with delrin.. can't imagine now 😱 it's the proof that what makes the difference is the player! I am getting ready to put quill on my harpsichord.. tired of delrin. It's another world of touch with quill, and I like it every time I experience it!
