I have to take a minute to give you your props, Andrea. I discovered you because of Dimash years ago and rediscovered you with Ren and I really appreciate that you do a fairly complete analysis of the music while also connecting it to how it makes people feel. It shows Ren’s thoughtful approach as well as your keen observation skills, obviously honed being a musician yourself. I hope you’re enjoying Japan and I am watching this while wrapped up in my own cozy blanket and I had to laugh at myself when you came on screen. Sending you all the positive energy.

Ren has created a whole sci-fi universe that includes this video, and a new KZbin series, as well as a new clothing brand. Check out his video "Episode 1: The Flame of Prometheus". It's more of a story than a song.

His recent vid is an advertisement for his clothing brand... Think that's one of the reasons Ren doesn't say anything on it & hasn't actually put his name to it, so people don't think it's actually part of his catalogue.

As far as the music is concerned, Ren did everything... Writing, producing, recording, mixing, all instruments. The vocals, some were shared with Kit. The video obviously had a much higher budget and a large team creating it. Great review.

This was filmed in April/May and he was accidentally stabbed in the eye and ended in the hospital. 5 months eye flared and started a big cascade of symptoms rhat put him in bed for 2 months. The intensive treatment was too heavy for him,so he is back in Brighton now doing supportive therapies. He will be doung some different treatments in January.

Ren and Kit giving us a very warm welcome to the slaughter house 🔥 The wordplay wizard went off on this one! And he went a little dark too 🖤 You’re right too about the way he emotes it all with every little detail in his facial expressions and body language too. An absolute genius at putting his struggles into art. Also while the song was written and the video filmed before his recent health dive, it certainly adds a layer to the experience of this track. Luckily he seems to have gotten through the worst of it as he’s back showing his face on instagram and even did a long twitch stream after the premiere. There were some very emotional moments, but also hopeful ones. Our sick boi can eat rice now! I am so hyped for the rest of the album! 🐰

Sick Boi is dead! Welcome to the Slaughter House! :) The logo for the Slaughter House album is a rabbit. A bunny called "Johnson"! :) It's a long way down into the rabbit hole Alice! In my first listen the song felt disjointed. On my second listen I realized that was somewhat intentional given the last scene in the video. For the switch to the new album (more positive, more singing), Ren is killing off some of the sick boi tropes demonstrated on the last album including depressed suicidal Ren, in pain/tortured/angry at the gods Ren, melancholic with a melody Ren, fast paced sarcastic/troll Ren, and lastly psycho Ren. Thought that was pretty cool and I’m looking forward to the rest of the album.
