The translation of an interview with legendary soviet director Andrei Tarkovsky, filmed in Latvia in 1979.
During his lifetime, Tarkovsky managed to become famous far beyond his own country. His complex film language was perceived by a foreign audience and awarded with festival awards.
In an interview the director talks about the conditions under which the film «Ivan’s Childhood» was created, how the cleaning lady from the workman's club was able to catch the meaning of the movie «The Mirror», and how he plans to shoot the adaptation of «The Idiot» by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Not all plans were destined to come true, unfortunately, but the work that was done still thrills our imagination.
