The guardians traded away a contract they felt would not age well. Gimenez signed a back end loaded contract and after his bat has digressed over the last 2 seasons they convinced Atkins he was worth Horowitz. Atkins, his flawed player evaluations and his lack for foresight will once again leave the Jay's with an overpaid player that no team wants, just like Springer.
