They have a recall on these. It is only for 4 years after date of purchase but you can give Apple support a call they might let you do the recall. You get a free battery and keyboard it’s the whole top case that they replace so that dent will be gone as well :)

I checked and as per Apple’s website, it says : Apple has determined that, in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. Affected units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 and product eligibility is determined by the product serial number. Confirm your model is "MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)." So I don’t think Andres’ 2019 15” MBP is eligible for the recall program.

To solve your curiosity, those are sticker tan lines. It happens when you put a sticker too long on the MacBook and over time it just tans since your MacBook will oxidize and lose color. Stickers helps your MacBook create those tan lines faster than it naturally should've.

I have the Intel Core i7 2019 MacBook Pro 16", the thermals are fine, doesn't heat as much in MacOS as in Windows. In general, this Mac is a steal for ~$500. I bought mine refurb in perfect condition for $620, best purchase tbh.

I did the same thing you did but for the battery I bought the parts and installed it myself. Avoiding that HUGE battery price. After the operation all worked fine. now that Mac is used for programming and labs stuff

i just recently bought a 2022 macbook pro m2 with the touch bar for $480 US and honestly i think i got lucky- cycle count for the battery was less than 25, touch bar works, and some dents but it doesnt affect the laptop in terms of performance. You would just have to be careful in searching on marketplace with how they post the pictures. always see if the seller communicates with you properly that gives you the right information about the unit they're selling. also, stay away from macbooks with stickers on since they leave a mark when you remove them and its not pleasing to the eyes. But i am enjoying the laptop i have and it was a steal so just take your time in finding the right one for you and always have a budget set out since new macbooks are crazy expensive.

If that MacBook was that dirty on the outside you should have take a look inside and clean it before testing… It’s not a new machine like an M series, but with a proper clean and maybe a vrm mod you could have a much better experience.

Has an apple I have a lot of Macs and Apple devices in general. So I think I could definitely say that something as simple as a battery repair is complicated but doable depending on the device. Every battery except for AirPods and Apple Watches could be replaced. This is especially the case now that Apple has unlocked their iPhones therefore you to replace them, but the MacBook replacement had to get through a lot of stuff to replace them but like I said it’s doable.😅
