North America could take F1 to a new level. All American F1 races/productions are better. It’s the better experience. Las Vegas’ date needs to move though.

Mario Andretti was 1978 WDC. Michael fell flat on his attempt in the early 90s.

Andretti/Cadillac don't have the financial clout to front an F1 team? Well that has to be the dumbest statement, if they are going to invent reasons to deny Andretti the least they could do is think of one that doesn't make them look stupid. Sounds to me like they are willing to inject another team into the competition so long as it's not too competitive. Personally I think seeing Cadillac join F1 would be amazing, it's the "thinking outside of the box" type of switch up that F1 really needs.

I’ve been saying this for years. They want our money but they’re afraid of getting their asses kicked by the new guys. They’ll let in Audi and Toyota, but Andretti? Nah, they’d be too fast. Even if Andretti DOES get in, I’m sure if/as soon as they start winning the rules are gonna start changing weekly and there’ll be protest after protest filed for the most trivial reasons to get them either out of contention or out entirely.

It's not about competition, but about sharing the prize. Today it's divided into 10 pieces. If another team joins, that money has to be divided into 11. It means that the current teams would receive about 10 million dollars less in prize money. The team bosses even said that if Andretti buys an existing team that would be ok for them, because it wouldn't change anything, but they are against a new team and consequently sharing the prize.
@1Leozx
@1Leozx Күн бұрын
This would obviously be easily resolved if Liberty Media, which is American by the way, would just commit to increasing the prize pool. even because Andretti in F1 would have an obvious revenue gain. But I don't know why Liberty hasn't found a solution in this case yet.

They also, in effect, that "nobody has heard of Cadillac/GM or Andretti." GM, formerly the largest corporation in the world and Mario and Michael Andretti very famous racers. Mario won a little race called the Indy 500 and also was F1 World Champion, a title that is pretty famous in Europe. The same Europe where "nobody knows his name." What a crock!

It's most certainly NOT about money in any way or the "perceived" overall value Andretti will bring to the sport because that's a definite. The real reason Andretti will not be let in is a personal vendetta/grudge being held by Greg Maffei for some unknown reason. Maybe Michael banged a GF of his at some point in time? IDK, but it sure seems like something along those lines. I think F1 needs to force Maffei out if he can't conduct business professionally without declining a more than viable team's bid to enter in such a childish and unprofessional manner.

heck yesssss! ne of the nicest and most humble human beings you could ever hope to meet! I met him purely by accident when I was delivering the programs to the Homestead Motorsports Complex in 1997 at the very last minute as we ran into issues with the bindery process when our machine went down. Anyhow I delivered them just in the nick of time but we were hungry so we got a sausage wrap and a drink so we can make it to our seats right as the green flag was about to fly, and as I turn around with my food to RUN to my seat, some A-Hole was careening down the walkway in a golf cart and nearly hit me, and I ended up dropping my drink! When I looked up, I was starting to say Moooother Fuuuu… Holy cow, You're Mario Andretti! OMG he was so apologetic and gracious and he kept apologizing and I was simply in awe, realizing I was talking with my childhood hero! He then asked where we were sitting and I said 2nd row, turn 1 and he said how would you like to be my guests in the pits? he took us through the tunnel and into the Newman Haas pits and we watched from there and it was incredible! I was a huge fan of Michael's so I was so looking forward to meeting him as well, but unfortunately he was in the middle of a messy divorce and was there with his hot Brazilian GF, but he didn't really speak to anyone except the end of the race which he won! Mario is a living LEGEND and it's insulting that Andretti Global not be let in while Mario is still alive and well and can enjoy the prideful feeling of he and his son finally fielding their very own team! Even worse and more disrespectful when you factor in that F1 is now an American Owned Entity and has been for about 7 years now! Both of them are legends and I have been supporting them all my life and I'm hopeful they will get in, and my take is that Michael's "step down" from being the head of the organization was strategic in order to get F1 to let them in (since he's the one they have an issue with - should be illegal because personal feelings should never interfere with the business of sport), and once in they announce that they felt it waist the best interest of the team to have the most successful & most experienced person running the F1 operation, at which time Michael and Mario can give everyone the proverbial middle finger while saying CHECK MATE. I sincerely hope that's what all this craziness is about.

One other interesting Wild Card is that Liberty Media is a US Company and thus is subject to US law and keeping Andretti out could be seen as anti-competitive and that could get the sued/sanctioned.

It's not as if the same teams that week after week fail to make it out of Q1 aren't questionable in their being qualified to be participating in the sport. Andretti/Cadillac would be no worse than the cars that Bottas and Stroll field

People are still discussing this? The problem is not Andretti’s money, it’s exactly the opposite, it’s having to divide the cake with Andretti! Now 10 teams split the money. If more come in you simply get less unless the overall cake increases! What I believe is happening is that newcomers have not been able to show that the pie will get bigger and thus the ones already there see no point in letting them in! Would you split your salary with a colleague if you could keep it all?

I’ve been saying this for a while. If Renault want out then they should be looking at both Alpine and the engine factory. Renaults claim that the staff would simply be moved to other parts of the business, well, nobody took that seriously. Andretti/Cadillac take over the Alpine/Renault operation. Not sure about the Toyota part. I’d think Gene Haas would have something to say about that 🤔

I can see this turning into same problem Indy car had 20 years ago when there was a war with Penski and other team owner over rules and destroyed indy car for a few years and I can see that coming hear and I think F1 teams see the same thing . Especially when Andretti has the federal government attacking F1 for not letting them in and I can see crying all ready with all the rules they want changed look what is going on this year with rule changes.

wouldn't that be a kick in the balls for all those elitist F1 teams if Cadillac can come in and start winning! those new road going luxury/sports car Cady's are freaking FAST!!! and they handle extremely well! i know there is really no correlation between their street cars and an F1 car, it just shows that Cadillac can build a VERY good car with top shelf technology which could bode well for them in their endeavour to build a competitive Formula 1 race car!

alpine should have not been allowed to abandon the engine porogram. it just shows the BS going on. new teams are denied (aside other crap) if they don't bring in new engine mfg's - but existing ones can just decide to not develop an engine anymore! i am all open for new teams, and i really can't take the tears of other teams how it might cost them a couple million. sort that out with Liberty Media and the shares getting paid to the teams. i want to see new, additional teams on the grid. force RB to sell the second team - that shouldn't be there in the first place! make space for new teams that have money and come in with an engine mfg! all the old teams getting way to comfortable with the sh*t they are settled in to now.

If Cadillac pursues this route to get into F1 then what does Greg Maffei do? He is in a lot of Hot Water over here with Ticketmaster, plus a Senate Inquiry into His Statements to Mario Andretti, Knowing US Patriotism, They could Kneecap Him so Badly, Especially with so many US Sponsors in F1, it could bite F1 Teams in the Ass. That is you Christian, Toto, Zak, Fred, and the rest of them.

Just because he was willing to run up a mountain of debt, it doesn't mean that F1 takes him seriously. The one person who has never said a word on the Caddy deal is the woman who chairs GM. Ask yourself who killed Pontiac and Oldsmobile, remember, it's not personal, it's only business.

F1 has become just another form of entertainment and as such every move is based on money. It's a bit more interesting now that the competition is closer but it's stifled by the greed when it should be about the innovation at the pinnacle of automotive racing. It's obvious no one running F1 is interested in what is best for this iconic sport. They are interested in the show, characters and BS. Moto GP is an example of what true racing and competition at the top is. Moto GP is better in every way unless you are looking for artificial drama, greed and political correctness. If F1 is concerned about the performance of Andretti then give them a performance contingency contract. If they are last place in the standings after year 2 the contract is terminated. How about a provision to eliminate the uncompetitive teams and move the level of true competition higher. Something like: Add an eleventh team. Then at the end of two years the team ranking last for two years is replaced by a new team from a pool of rank ordered and approved teams.
