@@WhatDemocracyYou’re misrepresenting what type of pride it is. They are taking pride in themselves and accepting themselves for who they are, and I, as a gay person, hope you as a straight person take pride in yourself too, for being different to me. It isn’t about being superior. It’s about being proud of yourself. It’s a deeply healthy way to think about yourself. Overall I disagree with the recent movement, but I think a lot of straight people are using this as an opportunity to confront pride itself, when the original idea of it is completely harmless and healthy for gay people. Everyone should be proud of who they are. And gay people have never said straight people shouldn’t be proud aswell.

But if activism pays your bills, you'll find something to be an activist over, hence the embrace of these identities. No I don’t …..why the God given beautiful rainbow? I’m straight I don’t have a flag I don’t want a flag. If your proud of whatever it is you want to be great no need for a month of proudness just live your life however you want to

@Gill Cawthorn maybe we can get it back, possibly with some gaiety. All you need is a slogan like Human and Humble instead of gay and proud. That way it would be inclusive.

I haven't seen any evidence of "right wingers" blaming "the gays" for drag Queen storytime. In fact I've only seen them agreeing with gays who are against that crap. It's not always a "both sides" thing Andrew.

Thank you Andrew!!! I totally agree with your comments as the original Rainbow Flag was designed to represent Gay Freedom Celebration in late 70s. 🏳🌈 🇦🇺 "Gilbert Baker designed the rainbow flag for the 1978 San Francisco's Gay Freedom Celebration. In the original eight-colour version, pink stood for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony and violet for the soul".

I'm a gay man from the Netherlands and agree wholeheartedly with Doyle. That flag is a joke and the once LGB community has been highjacked by the alphabet people. I do not want anything to do with the pride movement. I'm not in the queer community. I consider 'queer' an insult. I oppose pride month and hate the so-called LGBTQIAA2+xyz community that supposedly took it over. I never celebrated pride, because I think it's nonsense. I just want equality. But even a night out with friends in cafes and bars specifically meant for gay men is not possible any more. Everywhere is this toxic ideology. I'm a gay man, but I'm not in the community. I don't want to.

I was born in Brighton and told decades ago that the rainbow was a symbol to represent 'everyone of all colours and stripes'. That made perfect sense. Segregating out trans or disabled or different races is counter to the very thing itself. These new flags are overtly political, subversive and frankly offensive.

It's literally a sausage fest. The LGBT used to exist in a manner that wasn't in everyone's faces, which now with all the added numbers and letters it's become nothing more than a political trend that will alienate the majority of its own community because 90% are already confused and don't know what they are. 😂

I agree with this comment. I believe deep down they do feel ashamed and are trying to cover it up. It may not be a popular view, but there it is. I also think that people who are in extramarital heterosexual relationships feel shame too. Being proud and "special" because you are gay, and that is soooo celebrated by society, and so "woke" is a good way of covering up a lot of complex feelings of inadequacy. Don't get me wrong I dont want to shame people, I'm just observing.
