That thing where they take the deeply personal (often exaggerated) views of their staff is scary. It applies in so many ways now. e.g. I was accused of something bad at our local library and staff made notes and keep a private record and they put it in a 'risk register' and I wasn't involved in anything bad, I was simply chatting to a teenage boy (age 17 - I'm 50) at the library PCs - (we were talking about job searching and training options after leaving school without basic qualifications) and staff assumed I was trying to manipulate the boy - but the scary part is that the library argued and still argues (after investigating) that even though the staff were wrong and even made claims that were untrue - that they are entitled to their opinion and their entitled to feel safe. They won't even apologise to me. It is hurtful. I'm now pursuing this legally but it is a similar tendency here in NZ everywhere especially in music, comedy, theatre, the gender idea (very 'PC' nowadays) and terrifyingly in the what they call the public service - government. Bureaucrats are becoming fascistic - but not based on laws or policies - based on their feelings - and they get away with it - and lawyers won't challenge it. Is this common in GB as well? Re 'cancelling' shows = such a shame because British comedy (I have to say for me esp. the older stuff) is very special - I think its important for good mental health! - e.g. genuine, naughty and pulls no punches.

The silence from other comedians is embarrassing. I feel this battle is still in its infancy.

Fantastic interview. Thank you Freddy for letting your guest speak without interrupting or trying to speak over him (like many hosts do). Andrew Doyle is brilliant. As a Canadian I am unfamiliar with either Andrew or Graham Lineman, but I was brought up by English parents who used irony and wit constantly. Unfortunately, Americans and Canadians in the most part do not understand irony and think it is sarcasm. A shame.

Sue the venue. Sue the venue. SUE THE VENUE. IF THIS ISN'T BREACH OF CONTRACT nothing is.

Spectator TV could host the show. Get a nice little startup going for online entertainment (in addition to their usual journalistic fare). There’s a gap in the market for free thinking and speaking comedy.

The joke here is "The Fringe" it's in the title. And here, it is now the Establishment and is trying to hold its head up with Pride but in doing so is falling into the Abyss of protection of the virtue. As for Frankie, he is too, is the ESTABLISHMENT🤦🏻♂️ Never thought that would be said!🤭😂😂😂

Start an opposition festival simultaneously and let the best comedians come and perform as long as their material is all jokes about fringe, and those behind it

Good comedy is about tackling serious issues and bringing them to a level playing field for discussion. Well done, Andrew and Freddy.

Edinburgh Clowncil now hate tourists and the Festival. Their objective is to restrict tourists and reduce the Fringe massively. But at least the have a tram that runs down to Leith every 7 minutes. Really useful.

It's astoundingly simple, in general, corporations, associations and indeed religions that the populace are absolutely forbidden to debate or criticise, are inevitably wrong, and in some cases, REALLY BADLY wrong. This reality denial delusion JUST HAS TO BE eradicated, urgently. Regards and respect to EVERYBODY, from a concerned bloke in Hertfordshire.

Morgan uncensored ambushed Graham this evening, it's an appalling moment when P Tatchell is on as a voice of reason and Lenihan is ambushed and cut off by the presenter that awful Lockwood.

I'm so glad I've got a pre-censored copy of Fawlty Towers. I love 'The Germans', even with all it's so called racism - it's a piece of it's time, and should be digested as such.

Great observation said about some of these so called comedians. When the audience start applauding about the views instead of laughing at the jokes. Im glad the likes of Dave Allen are not around to put up with this BS

I'm not that familiar with Mary Whitehouse (just had a look at her wiki). Perhaps, if the British public had heeded her warning, they wouldn't have the widespread degeneracy, as well as tolerance for only degenerate things, they now have. They've canceled wholesomeness.

It's points like this where progressivism makes an ass of itself. I've seen Doyle live, he wasn't bad, wasn't great. Very uncontroversial. GLinner has been responsible for some of the mildest, yet great, sitcoms on TV. Now they are Hitler to some morons 😂
