I started on Caustic and it was amazing back then because I was homeless and I didn't have money for software/gear. Even though it's simple as fuck I was able to make some okay music with it, which at the time made me ecstatic. The synths are pretty decent for crappy synths. You can make pretty creative stuff if you put yourself to the task. I think you can load pretty long samples into the PCM synth and drum machine too.

I kinda stumbled upon your channel by accident again yesterday. It rang a bell, but it was kinda vague. As I'm sure you already know, you could have been a Britpop legend - and that's a good thing. But not being British, this is probably the best alternative. A well needed mix of air, opinion and whatever may come along, and as such it never gets boring. I like that.

I bought it and never used it 😂 but I think it’s great for what is at that price point. If you want a daw experience buy Ableton ,Fl studio , Logic etc. On the mobile side there soo many options to choose from and you can always return the app if you don’t like it. On the flip side , how many classic records have been made with even more frustrating equipment that cost 1000’s of dollars. Printing to tape didn’t have an undo button and the early synths didn’t even have a save feature. I think we live in a great time make music 🎶 instead of criticizing the tools. I know that’s your thing and we need honest channels like yours to light the fire under app/software makers and keep the community informed. Peace

Me personally, I don't see the purpose of a DAW on a smartphone beyond the reason of passing time as if it's a video game. But maybe in the future there will be a billboard chart-topping song that was produced on mobile.....with Unison Audio plugins and a mid chord pack😁😁🤣

Andrews app had me looking into Mobile DAWs/Samplers. I found FL mobile is seriously underrated - its basically a full daw and for the price it makes more sense getting that over Andrews app. But I mean he obv has a much smaller team than IL but just speaking from cost if your going to spend money on an app get FL Mobile.

true. and nothing available even comes close to comparing to fl mobile. all these other apps are literally one of the pieces of everything fl mobile does. like you want a car and they offer you 20% of an engine, and a couple seats. here's your "daw" lol they have decades of R+D in fl studio, put into a mobile interface. vs. some new devs trying to do something from scratch. i mean this with all love as a dev myself, but when people understand the full magnitude of fl mobile, everything else is laughable at best and a waste of time beyond a fun toy or maybe making a few cool little things. fl mobile is as professional as it gets, being it's just on a small handheld linux device we call phones, and it's not even anywhere near it's full potential yet. it still has a lot of annoying little things but the functionality is absolutely unmatched, by several orders of magnitude. it's not even apples and oranges, it's a whole other universe : )

@@shocktnc not at all. It's about design. The devs probably went through a lot of form factors and sample amounts and ended up feeling like 9 would be the most wieldy while still being usable. Let me remind you this is content that is supposed to fit within a 5inch screen in the worst case scenarios. This isn't to say it's not a valid criticism, but rather that there's a loooooooot more to getting a sampler with more thank 9 pads being comfortable to use within an app aimed at ease of use. It's not about cost cutting, though, I doubt it would be much more expensive to just add more pads. Also also, might have also been to prevent people with less competent hardware from feeling like they can't run the app. That's also a factor here...
@radiofloyd2359

Fair review, but I think you didn't get the idea of the automation. It's there to let you evolve the sound in weird ways over longer or shorter periods of time than the base loop, as such letting you shape complex and weird sounds. Automation is mostly there as a creative tool. On that same subject, I don't understand why you had the chord twice on that other beat you made? Cause you could absolutely work that into a single pad. Here, though I do agree you are a little bit too limited, it's also interesting to work with those limitations.
@SaumBodhi
@SaumBodhi 2 жыл бұрын
I didn't mind the 9 track limitation, but (atleast on the android as of this moment) automations across patterns are a bit problem ridden. Maybe it's my phone too, not top knotch but the app seems to work fine... i think? So before the last update, all automations would be the same across all patterns. You do a filter sweep in pattern 2, it would filter sweep on all patterns. What it does now is if you do a filter sweep in a pattern and the sweep ends towards the top where it's all high freq, or ends low, or where ever it ends that's where the filter will be set for the next pattern in your song arrangement, instead of reseting or going by the value where it was set in that other pattern.

I'll say you make great points and these are things I ran into myself such as only 9 samples, and limited effects... It has its place and for the price I don't think it's bad. It has brought me fun with some of my music friends and that in itself is worth the what, 7 dollars for the app? Also something can be said for the whole "limiting yourself to bring out creativity" thing as well. Don't get me wrong, not a flame, you make 100% valid criticisms.

Just checked and sad to see FL Mobile is still way outdated on iPad. Only outdated IAA audio, no AUV3 plugin support - which means no way to use the hundreds of desktop instruments, effects and midi effect plugins that have been ported to the platform. Cubasis 3, Roland Zenbeats or Garageband are the way to go.. (Or maybe Drambo, for a modular groovebox style workhorse)

@@AdamsBrew78 i see what you're saying, but total cross compatibility is impossible just because of the nature of ios. i don't think we will ever see the 2 worlds interconnect. but i still haven't seen any ios app that can do for me what fl mobile does. i started making electronic music before even fl studio, and look at the mobile app as like, if this was all i had, what could i do, vs. desktop. minus the vst support, there's not much. if there is something that can do for me what i can do just whipping out my phone, and have full production capability, i would love to see it! i've been looking for a long time. but i wouldn't be ios based. it would be interesting to make an entire comprehensive list of positives and negatives, of the stuff you mentioned, vs. fl mobile, side by side. i don't stay on what i think is the best, i would see the true potential, and there would be a new king mobile daw (in my mind anyways) 🤟✨️

@@AdamsBrew78 also, i have been curious for a long time if they purposefully don't develop fl mobile more than it is now, because they don't want to jeapordize selling fl studio to new customers, if everyone or 90% of people could just have the actual identical program on mobile. also curious if Steinberg, who owns vst format still as far as i know, (i might be wrong on that) would go along with that either. Like if i sell cars, then you and me partner up to sell these cars with your engine, but i start selling my go karts also to everyone in the village and no one needs a car now lol. idk i wanna ask them whats up.

Lmao. He's modeling himself off content police from idubbz, which is just about the whole idea of the police (when they're not killing black people) bring those who persecute and bring to justice the bad people.

9 sounds. 9?! What is this, a DAW for ants? At the far other side of the spectrum is G-Stomper. G-Stomper is to mobile DAWs as Melda is to vst plugins. You need an advanced math degree to use it and it will instantly make your eyes bleed. But like Melda plugins, G-Stomper can do everything, and it does everything with the highest quality. Will you actually be able to harness its power? Lol who are you, Steven Hawking? No, you're not, so you will be left confused, bleeding out of your eyes, just like me. But I like torture for some reason, so I press on with hopes of using only my phone to make the next big banger that Pvlace steals.
