I started on Caustic and it was amazing back then because I was homeless and I didn't have money for software/gear. Even though it's simple as fuck I was able to make some okay music with it, which at the time made me ecstatic. The synths are pretty decent for crappy synths. You can make pretty creative stuff if you put yourself to the task. I think you can load pretty long samples into the PCM synth and drum machine too.

I bought it and never used it 😂 but I think it’s great for what is at that price point. If you want a daw experience buy Ableton ,Fl studio , Logic etc. On the mobile side there soo many options to choose from and you can always return the app if you don’t like it. On the flip side , how many classic records have been made with even more frustrating equipment that cost 1000’s of dollars. Printing to tape didn’t have an undo button and the early synths didn’t even have a save feature. I think we live in a great time make music 🎶 instead of criticizing the tools. I know that’s your thing and we need honest channels like yours to light the fire under app/software makers and keep the community informed. Peace

But yea man especially with the new Slicer machine, its a wrap. 😂

true. and nothing available even comes close to comparing to fl mobile. all these other apps are literally one of the pieces of everything fl mobile does. like you want a car and they offer you 20% of an engine, and a couple seats. here's your "daw" lol they have decades of R+D in fl studio, put into a mobile interface. vs. some new devs trying to do something from scratch. i mean this with all love as a dev myself, but when people understand the full magnitude of fl mobile, everything else is laughable at best and a waste of time beyond a fun toy or maybe making a few cool little things. fl mobile is as professional as it gets, being it's just on a small handheld linux device we call phones, and it's not even anywhere near it's full potential yet. it still has a lot of annoying little things but the functionality is absolutely unmatched, by several orders of magnitude. it's not even apples and oranges, it's a whole other universe : )

@radiofloyd23592 жыл бұрын
@@shocktnc not at all. It's about design. The devs probably went through a lot of form factors and sample amounts and ended up feeling like 9 would be the most wieldy while still being usable. Let me remind you this is content that is supposed to fit within a 5inch screen in the worst case scenarios. This isn't to say it's not a valid criticism, but rather that there's a loooooooot more to getting a sampler with more thank 9 pads being comfortable to use within an app aimed at ease of use. It's not about cost cutting, though, I doubt it would be much more expensive to just add more pads. Also also, might have also been to prevent people with less competent hardware from feeling like they can't run the app. That's also a factor here...
@radiofloyd23592 жыл бұрын
Fair review, but I think you didn't get the idea of the automation. It's there to let you evolve the sound in weird ways over longer or shorter periods of time than the base loop, as such letting you shape complex and weird sounds. Automation is mostly there as a creative tool. On that same subject, I don't understand why you had the chord twice on that other beat you made? Cause you could absolutely work that into a single pad. Here, though I do agree you are a little bit too limited, it's also interesting to work with those limitations.
@SaumBodhi2 жыл бұрын
I didn't mind the 9 track limitation, but (atleast on the android as of this moment) automations across patterns are a bit problem ridden. Maybe it's my phone too, not top knotch but the app seems to work fine... i think? So before the last update, all automations would be the same across all patterns. You do a filter sweep in pattern 2, it would filter sweep on all patterns. What it does now is if you do a filter sweep in a pattern and the sweep ends towards the top where it's all high freq, or ends low, or where ever it ends that's where the filter will be set for the next pattern in your song arrangement, instead of reseting or going by the value where it was set in that other pattern.

It has brought me fun with some of my music friends and that in itself is worth the what, 7 dollars for the app? Also something can be said for the whole "limiting yourself to bring out creativity" thing as well. Don't get me wrong, not a flame, you make 100% valid criticisms.
