@@Smoczur777 yes, unfortunately we live in a world full of selfish men who abandon their children and mothers who are left to pick up the pieces :/. After watching this analysis and interview, frankly, I still have zero hope for him. I don't think this individual can heal of his own volition - we just have to try to minimize the harm he can do to others. His childhood sounds awful, yes, but nothing can convince him of the fact that it damaged him (despite it being painfully obvious) or that he needs to change. His dad could and probably did punch him in the face and Andy is here thanking him for it decades later. Truly sad, but again: he is dishing out trauma because he never coped with his own, he will never accept this reality, and the world would be a better place if he wasn't part of society. Damn, you nailed this series. The peak moment of the therapy session captured in this video was very moving. Your analysis of this - which you did in a very sensitive and accepting way - essentially illustrates the horrific self-concept damage that's at the heart of narcissism and borderline personality disorders. Two conditions that are grossly misunderstood. I'm speaking as someone who is in remission from BPD, unstable and traumatic upbringing and relooping the same retraumatising abusive dynamics in my adult romantic relationships with narcissistic men. It's hard to explain to people the impact of a moment like in this therapy session, how huge it is to hear another person want to actually "see" you. It's taken me decades to feel worthy of even having feelings, then to feel able sit and name them and accept that I'm worthy of them being heard and validated. I'm surprised how AT genuinely allowed it to land, even just for those 30 seconds. This is a demo of how therapy for these conditions (when it's done well) is supposed to be a model of safe and stable relating, where the person's armour can come off. It's massive. It's often the first authentic and safe relationship we've ever had. I wish that for all the millions of evil "narcissistic monster" videos circulating KZbin videos there were more like this, because this is far more educational and productive. Our generation is in an epidemic of narcissism, which is from the knock-on effects of abusive and disengaged parenting. I'm not talking about vanity on social media, but actual narcissism. People really don't have a fraction of an idea the damage and trauma that are at the heart of these conditions and the damage that's done to a child by emotionally neglectful parenting, then the knock-on effects to all the people who those children go on to damage in adulthood. If we were more able to call it out, perhaps this epidemic of narcissism would slow down. Dismissing narcissists as "evil" and avoiding them will only get society so far. Amazing series to show what's possible, thank you.

If what Andrew says is true about how he "creates value" for the women in his life, I can say that one thing is true of these women . If they are happy with him, they do not love him. If they do love him, they are profoundly unhappy. Because if you love someone, it would kill you to watch them constantly ignoring their own needs, especially for your benefit. I know on those occassions where my spouse has done this to excess, it hurts my heart dreadfully and I tell him so and to let me take on my fair share. I think this is what makes Andrew so insidious are not his openly objectionable views and actions but those bits of benevolent sexism that hook a lot of young men who are good-hearted but were raised with an outsized sense of responsibility towards women and relatively low expectations towards us. Also I think it's fine to give credit where it is due to David while still being critical of his world view. It is good to oppose harmful ideas but not good to tacitly endorse the all-or-nothing thinking that underpins a lot of harmful ideas. To say that someone who has bad ideas can never be right about anything is wrong-headed and verging on totalitarian. It's like I can have compassion for the neglected child while still holding the abusive adult they became accountable. And that is how I feel about Andrew Tate at the end of the day.
@Stormy575 Жыл бұрын
The way Tate lets his walls down in this session is pretty amazing and so....I wonder why he did? I don't believe that a man as intellectual and calculating as Tate would cede control so readily without a strong motivation. It's weird how easy it is to be racist, misogynistic, or homophobic while also being in connection with your own vulnerability. Perhaps this makes him the is the most compatible "therapist" for Andrew given his existing belief system. I see this a lot in a sub-group of male relationship coaches on Instagram who promote the gender polarity woo-woo idealogy. My question is if this therapy will provide a net-positive for Andrew and the people who have suffered because of him. David is not capable of deprogramming him of misogyny and is probably even reinforcing it. I noticed David's strategy at the end is also a common exercise in acting school- given his background, it is likely he would have a lot of experience connecting with people emotionally and within the moment. I think that's why I am getting a weird voodoo cult vibe from him.

Kirk, I'm not sure if you caiught this, but, in that first clip, after Tate says he's going to spend just the same amount of time with his kids as his father did with him, his reply, "I may want to," is technically addressing the therapist's Q, "Would you not want to give them more?" Tate then starts saying something else beginning with I when the therapist pipes in, "You wanted more," provoking protest. They're both related sentiments obviously - I may want to spend more time with my children as a father vs. I may want(/have wanted) more with my father - but the latter much more literally amounting to an admission.

Does he have daughters too, or are they just not worth mentioning? I’ll watch to the end to see… I really hope he does start prioritizing his children because that might actually break the cycle of trauma.

Yeah, I think he has at least one daughter. I saw a video clip of him being nice to her. I'm hoping that his online persona isn't the real him. But that's hard to imagine.

Wouldn't it fix the issue if we'd collectively treat these people like a therapist, trying to see their points of view, understanding that their hate is a product of trauma, instead of judging them? I've long felt like the reason these people have a movement is that they are all cast out of society because of their narcissism. Maybe Dr. Kirk Honda is also a little bit afraid that he will be judged if his first reaction is not condemnation.

In order to justify the abuse he suffered and build it into his framework, he has to believe that it is ok to treat his kids that way- because it will make them 'strong' like he is.
@patricia9565 Жыл бұрын
Hi Dr. Honda! Do you think it's possible the therapist is trying to join/build rapport and safety by agreeing with his perception of Tate's worldview? I'm not sure about the ethics around that, but could he be getting that somehow out of the way to lower defenses and get to other things? Perhaps he doesn't actually believe that and would hope to circle back in the future? Just a thought.

It says, "he's a Certified Core Energetics Practitioner, and a graduate of the Radical Aliveness Institute of Southern California". It doesn't sound like he's a licensed therapist with evidence-based instruction, it sounds like he's a new-agey woo peddler, but that doesn't mean he can't also use therapy tactics. I'm wondering if David's misogynistic comment was to let Andrew know that they share similar thoughts and perspectives, allowing Andrew to grow a deeper trust faster with David so he could open up and allow the therapy in; I'm not positive David actually believes those things. Curious to know what other people think about this.

I'm usure if he's really aware what's he's doing here. Maybe he is aware and this is the new trajectory as he's trying to break away from the image of his past. Maybe because of audience pivot but along the way he might touch upon something that's more authentic and can work. Is it good? Feels like you can never judge if this is really authentic or not, I think you can do both. But if he really goes that direction and doesn't have any form of reconciliation with his past, it's def not the real thing. Non the less, this part was good stuff, prob the most challenging thing I've seen him do

Tates parents got divorced, him and his brother had to leave his dad and move back to the USA with mom. As the oldest son he had to be “strong” for his family and take on the head of house hold role. It makes sense he’s the way he is. He feels he always has to be the strong protector. Always feels like everyone in his circle is relying on him.
@Supercocono6 Жыл бұрын
Are we sure the therapist isn’t saying occasional misogynistic comments to try and get Tate to let his guard down? Or do we know this from other external examples. It does seem highly suspect that someone intellectual can believe women can’t be logical. Therapists have therapy themselves so wouldn’t that have been identified in his training?

Do you think it's possible that this David guy is playing to Andrew's ego by acting misogynistic in order to gain his trust with the plans to actually get through to him? Idk. Idk him I'm just wondering. He is a trained actor.

Dr Honda, is it possible that David played the mysoginist for a minute to get Tate on board, to gain his trust, or could it be that he blurred out something mysoginistic just to reassure himself that he understood what Tate's position was, to receive Tate's confirmation for that?
@edbrown5956 Жыл бұрын
Dr. Kirk I know he said some misogynistic things but it sounds a bit like black and white thinking. (Not trying to be a jerk here) Yes he said some wrong things but he also is doing some great therapy that someone who is pretty far left and vocal about wouldn't get. To be fair though I think you are really afraid of the alt left trolls who may rip you apart if you don't keep reminding them you don't fully agree with there side. That's probably why you keep repeating it. You can't make everyone happy although I know YT is likely a huge income source you need to watch how you say things. Love this series on him though!!!! Thanks for commenting on these!
