It would be cool that after Andrew completes his challenge, he then tries to correctly make it knowing what the ingredients are. Still absolutely loved the episode and props to Andrew, that’s hard trying to think of a dish with just a name!

I love this concept because not only is it fun to see Andrew's creativity, you can also see how U.S. understandings of different concepts, like the devil, are reflected in how he interprets what the dish is. If someone isn't familiar with how a culture defines different concepts, you gotta go with what you know!

Awesome idea! Maybe A.T.E. can post a community announcement (here on KZbin and their other socials) a couple of days before, and people can make them (no googling, no cheating! :D) and then upload pics prior to the episode dropping. And then Rie and Andrew can react to the pics as a bonus episode! :)

I once heard a rice expert say that the quality of water that first hits the dry rice to rinse is essential. The grain absorbs the most moisture with the first rinse. Ever since then I only wash my rice with filtered water.

This is actually a really cool video concept. When rie was talking about the challenge in the first minute of the video, the first food that popped up in my head is this candy called “sundot kulangot.” It literally translates to “picked boogers” and it’s a candy native to the Philippines 😊

I thought a fun idea to try would be to give Andrew the region of the dish and the ingredients, but no name or hints, and figure out what a westerner would create with that. In this instance tell him it's a Japanese dish, list of ingredients, then just leave him to create his dish. Great job so far, I'll be following this channel with great hope for it's future :)
