My girlfriend is right leaning and I'm left leaning although we agree on most of the same things. All we do is go to work, go home, have sex, play pc games, and eat cheap food at home. We have good jobs for people in their mid 20s but we don't have any extra income to consume things. Generally the only time we participate in the economy (other than the part where we fuel the economy by working) is when our parents take us out to eat 6 times a year. We want to go skiing but we can't afford skii equipment to buy or rent or $60+ for a skii lift pass on the weekends, the only time we would have time to go. Universal basic income seems like a nobrainer to us because we aren't doing much for spending in the economy by sitting at home and practicing games we've owned for years (we buy like 1-2 games a year). Perhaps I shouldn't be putting 6% of my income in a 401k that's being matched by the company or perhaps we need more economic power.

I know, right? I'm a Republican Trump voter who can't stop watching his videos....the guy is refreshing. I'm still voting Trump, but if Yang is the nominee I wouldn't vocally oppose him the way I would ANY of the other Democrats. He's got awesome policies like Democracy Dollars which is popular with every GOP person who hears it. He is the only politician to point out Thorium's potential, which I've been ranting about for years as a Republican and yet nobody in politics EVER mentioned until Yang. Unfortunately as a conservative I could only vote for Yang, IF Yang was pro-life and promised to only nominate originalists for SCOTUS and continue building border protections and buy more coast guard cutters to keep out drugs and viruses, I mean who cares about immigration? 60,000+ Americans die yearly from drugs that come across that border, and we can't effectively quarantine if virus carriers can just walk across unsecured border, a virus could spread uncontrollably across the border and could kill 100 million+ Americans like the 1918 Spanish Flu which spread by migrant Asian workers who arrived to help during WW1, and which killed 4% of global population, equivalent to 280 million people today. It would also help if he didn't buy into CO2 being a problem as Methane/Nitrous Oxide from cows causes the most warming, while CO2 is at historic lows compared to the Jurassic Age and if anything we need more CO2 because humans have killed off too many animals that used to exhale CO2 so we have less CO2 in our atmosphere than during almost all periods of Earth's existence like the Mesozoic (Jurassic, Triassic) and Paleozoic periods, we are dramatically lower CO2 levels now, dangerously low in fact. But back to the topic, most GOP voters don't care about those specific social issues like I do, so many of them will flip to Yang. And dampening the enthusiasm of Trump's base, would mean Yang would win. I would never vote "against Yang" (I am voting "for Trump"), and much of Trump's support in 2016 was votes "against Hillary". Yang is too likeable, logical, soft-spoken and rational. The complete opposite of Trump.

@ragnar ulrichson That's not true. Our country is operating with excess capacity. Until there's a supply side constraint, goods are not likely to go up. Unlike crazy Warren/Sanders, UBI does not impact the operating expense portion. I am not a fan of what Warren/Sanders does. Also, VAT does not impact Food/Clothing, the basic consumer staples. The question is whether that $1,000/m to you will benefit you. If you are among the 95% Americans, you will take home more money, and have more disposable income with the Freedom Dividend.
@Zeldasouls5 жыл бұрын
ragnar ulrichson assuming you divert the money for UBI from other federal welfare programs and aren’t simply printing $1000 for everybody who opts into UBI, no, UBI would not artificially drive up the price of goods and services. Nor would it increase taxes. Keep in mind this is ONLY if other programs are abolished to compensate, and if the aforementioned conditions are met.
@Zeldasouls5 жыл бұрын
ragnar ulrichson no.... you clearly didn’t read my comment. There would be NO inflation (and by extension price increases) because no new currency is being put into circulation. You are correct in saying that the revenue would be garnered in taxes on private citizens and corporations (Amazon), but there would be zero tax increase overall. The amount of federal tax revenue spent on social programs would be the same as before the policy implementation (UBI), if not even less, because the government would be spending less on other welfare programs due to UBI effectively replacing some of them.

The fact that Yang is the only liberal that has accepted an interview with Shapiro shows that he is one of the only liberals, and probably one of the only politicians period, that is so confident with his policies and platform that he is willing to talk to an expert that is completely on the other side of the spectrum. The reason you don't see the other liberal politicians here is because they know they'll get exposed for their weak platform and talking points.

I think if you may fall into the same problem that the left does. You would be shocked as too how much you probably agree with many democratic candidates on many policy issues as well as just understanding the problems in general. The media though tends to filter the most interesting/least intellectually triggering parts of it (ie the social issues). Fox News talks about flags and monuments, CNN talks about BLM and trump. It tends to avoid the actual problems. But that’s what we as a society demand. We demand the easy to digest and extremely polarizing issues and the media is happy to cater to that (they talk about this towards the end). So then when we go to vote we think “Bernie is a communist” and “trump is a racist” and “Hillary is corrupt” instead of diving into the actual important things. Not to say those accusations aren’t important, but any individual being a bad person doesn’t matter, it’s the policies they enact. Hillary could be corrupt but if her policies help create a less corrupt US then I don’t care nearly as much.

We can definitely afford it. You will see a huge boost in mental health, because for example most stress and suicide comes from poverty and the dividend will help with that by lifting the weight of some of those bills off the nexts of millions of Americans living paychecks to paycheck. The UBI does not produce laziness but in fact makes people work more doing something they love, and with automation are working options are getting smaller by the day. I can give 1000 more reasons, but let's just say it's the best plan on the democratic side by far.
@jakinchan34325 жыл бұрын
@@priestlane6141 I don't think a UBI would help much. How companies decide how much to sell a product is just to sell it at the highest price they could that the consumers are willing to pay. Any improvements in the production costs doesn't always mean a lower price, but more profit for the company. If we were to implement UBI, since people now have more money, there is nothing to stop companies from raising prices since consumers clearly now have enough and are wiling to pay for it. Lets take San Francisco for example. If we were to implement UBI, suddenly, everyone has more money. This is like in San Francisco where suddenly, so many people have money from tech companies. Since everyone had more money, many companies in San Francisco raised their prices because people were willing to pay it. Yes, income goes up, but prices and consequently, the poverty threshold also goes up. UBI, when implemented, just feels like sudden inflation. It may help initially, but I do not think it will work long term. Yes, everyone suddenly has $1000, and thats great, but EVERYONE suddenly has $1000, so the thresholds will move too. Think of it like if the NBA decided to add 10 points to every team in every game. Yes, teams will now earn more points, but it doesn't change the standings. It doesn't help the teams on the bottom move up.

I don't think it's nonsense. Think long term for a lot of his policies. For instance, if people were guaranteed money it would take people out of survival mode. They would instead focus on quality of life, materialistically and socially. They'd be in a position to make themselves happier and focus on making a better life for them and people they care about which increases creativity, confidence, motivation, etc. That's just improving one part of society. Imagine the possibility of everyone carrying enough to go help people struggling to be their best while most people will be doing well enough in their own to improve lives of the ones who do the helping of the strugglers. It's a full circle economic advancement in a long term scenario because of how complicated our society is right now, making it hard to imagine a simply positive lifestyle for everyone.

@C_R_O_M________5 жыл бұрын
@@alphaomega5878 sure no problem, I have an answer about his UBI scheme that reveals how shallow this idea really is, so here it goes: "If this guy manages to sell to the American public the UBI scheme you guys are going to be doomed. Among others you’ll have to take into account that: 1) UBI will create inflationary forces (only the initial receivers will get full purchasing power and then the market will adjust to the increased cash flow/supply, prices will go up and you’ll end up back at the starting point). Eventually these inflationary forces will push for a purchasing power equilibrium that will settle around what it is today. So, no long term gains (except for him of course who’ll he find himself in Washington getting paid by you). 2) you incentivize/subsidize inactivity you’ll get more of that. (Conversely whatever you tax you get less of, e.g. wealth) 3) you incentivize state-suckling immigration. 4) you’ll raise the price of labor hence US competitiveness will drop drastically (there’ll be a lot less incentives to fill low paying jobs, some businesses will have to close). 5) He will find himself in Washington and he’ll get paid by your taxes while having all this lobbying power at his disposal. What you need to understand before falling for a guy like him: -He is willing to play “God” with the economy which is a trillion times more complex than any of these bozos can predict and moreover, he’ll do so using your money. -Others have tried UBI and it failed miserably (hence abandoned). -There is no free lunch! - Artificial intelligence will replace SOME jobs but will create many others and will do so GRADUALLY, not over a day, a month or even a year! Whoever uses this argument is simply fear mongering and takes you for a fool! Stay away from self-proclaimed “saviors” like this guy. Edwin first of all he states facts about the current state middle America, but is assumptions of correlation are completely and utterly misrepresented. For example, we can probably agree that there is an uptick in drownings during the summer season, let’s say globally for the sake of the hypothetical. Now, during the same timeframe we can also agree that the consumption of ice cream also increases during the summer season. Now on a purely statistical view, there is most likely a statistically significant correlation between drownings and ice cream consumption,m. But any decent statistical instructor will step in at this point and state that correlation does not equal causation. Therefore, can we logically distinguish that even though there is a significant correlation, there is no relational causation of of the two factors in this hypothetical. This is where the rubber meets the road. People in middle America that are in drugs and disability, are so not because of capitalism, but due to weak and undisciplined people. The only way to help people is to incentivize the behavior we as a nation want from them. Universal income will only deplete the value of any currency due to hyperinflation, which is Econ 101. Yang says data shows and research shows...but those are empty statements unless he can show the direct relationship between cause and effect.

He feeds no bullshit and dives straight to the point and deliver that hard and bold message in languages the public understands. He doesn't play the race card and identity politics mean nothing to him. He is transparent with his ideas and he explains on how it works and it MAKES SENSE. I'm actually proud of the KZbin comments section today. I feel such a burden lifted from my shoulders to see that I'm not the only one ready to shed my partisan colors, and that a candidate that is intelligent, data driven, and interested in serving the people is the candidate that appeals to so many people across the political spectrum.

You have no idea how happy I am seeing these comment sections. I’ve been upvoting them :))

You people get happy too easily lol

Do you think we shouldn't be? I've literally seen a video of a dog playing in a sprinkler that got more negative comments than this hour long political discussion. I actually get unhappy too easily, and the political atmosphere in this country has been killing me. To see people agree with each other across such a broad spectrum just relieves me of a chronic pain in my heart.

@@desromic How in the world did a dog playing in a sprinkler get negative comments? That's crazy lol
@desromic5 жыл бұрын
They were saying it was animal abuse, dog is thirsty because of neglect, also bashing it because the title of the video called the dog a "stupid dog". People are just nuts, or trolling.

Yang is what liberals used to be. He is not only what America needs but maybe what the world needs. He won't happen but then I thought the same about Trump.

@@Sophialo1120 Very true. Trump will win again. I'm hoping Yang will be one of the front runners for the next election but Karmala will be there again and AOC will 100% run. AOC is already being pimped out by the Dems To increase her profile.

@@petemercurio8638 a lot of conservatives like Yang. Milton Friedman himself even proposed a version of UBI (negative income tax). Many of the conservative/ libertarian criticisms of social programs do not apply with UBI, and Yang is an actual good person, who wants the best for all Americans. That is very rare for a politician.
