As a competitor, it is always an honor and a great feeling to lose to someone who wins the whole tournament eventually. Absolute masterclass gameplay from both Andrew and Wolfe. Thank you for giving analysis and insights of their gameplay, it shows how many short and long term plans and decisions they have to make in a short amount of time per turn

To be honest, Wolfe's ideas had been thought by many others, not just speed boost yanmega, but also neutralizing gas weezing. What makes him to become the champ are like, he reads the game deeper than the others, knowing different teams weaknesses and reading his opponents mind, and also making correct calls during a huge tournament. Sure there might be some mistakes, but he also corrected those mistakes after/ during the match. Also, he's like the one bringing a revolution to RegH, by using different weak/strong pokemon instead of standard ones.

the thing about wolfe I've always enjoyed is that he almost never brings strictly meta teams, instead trying to always find an angle that deviates from the main meta. it's one of the big reasons he hasn't won the world championship since 2016, because the meta is meta for a reason. however, it's a clear mark of a top player who's unwilling to conform and make his play boring, always trying to innovate and see things from a fresh perspective. he's as good as any of the recent world champs in terms of meta reads, ingame plays, and reading the opponent's plays, but I think what truly stands out about him is his spirit of never picking up a team that he finds unappealing to play. he always makes his own judgements, plays his own style, and constantly tests the meta with picks that more conservative strong players don't touch. also something about him that's a clear trademark is that around the beginning of every new gen, wolfe WILL play a perish trap team in a regional or online tournament and somehow still manage to do pretty well

you forgot to mention throat chops denial of enemy incin parting shot which was the reason Wolfe picked it according to him in his video explaining the team

Very true, didn’t think to mention it but denying parting shot can be a huge momentum grab if done at the right moment especially in a match up where incin is constantly swapping in and out

Love this vid. But one question what setup are they using in pokemon VGC? hehe
@XZacLeeКүн бұрын
Like their production set up? They have a stage at the venue with a few cameras set up + record from the left player’s switch + have commentators over the match and will choose matches from each round of the tournament to put on display throughout the tournament
@raschidlandergolimlim328Күн бұрын
@ I don’t mean that but what I meant was the setup they use for playing the switch. Do you dock the switch and have a small monitor in front of you?
@XZacLeeКүн бұрын
Ah gotcha, yeah you get to have a monitor and you play with a controller. The stream match is typically hooked up to two designated switches, and those switches have the rentals of your team shared with them. So your personal switch will sit back in a holding area with your other belongings
@raschidlandergolimlim328Күн бұрын
@ ohh nice so you don’t have to use your own switch and your own pokemons because they are rentals. I asked that question cause the setup reall just looks so cool hehe

I really don’t like when Wolfe loses :(. That 3 turn sleep was so freaking lucky for Andrew
@keving97702 күн бұрын
It goes both ways. >=1 burn over 2 Flare Blitz uses is a 19%, 3 turn sleep is a 33%, failing double protect is a 67%.
@XZacLeeКүн бұрын
I think Wolfe finding a way to make the match so close even with the long sleep + finding a way forward despite how bleak the board state looked speaks even more to his strength as a player.
@funeraryКүн бұрын
What options did Andrew have if wolf got only 2 rounds of sleep?
@Rebsfan1117 сағат бұрын
@ pretty certain he just loses if it only goes 2 rounds. Wolfe talks about it in the video he uploaded himself. But he wasn’t mad. He said Andrew played well. And after rewatching the video he’s sees multiple plays he could’ve made earlier to win and not let it come down to that.
