Good to see someone explaining how an Am Pentatonic scale comes from a C major scale. I find the easiest & fastest way to work it out is to count up three from A. This is C. Therefore, the relative major of Am is C major. To find the minor, I count up six letters from C ie C, D, E, F, G, A. Am is therefore the relative minor of C major. There are no sharps or flats in the key of C which makes this one simple, but this has to be taken into consideration with the other keys. A Circle of Fifths chart will show how this works.

I've been creating solos for past few months and uploading my progress, Each one takes me around 2 hours, Hopefully I will one day improvise on these tracks and make them better. Am still learning & want to be so much better but happy with my progress.... To everyone on this journey... Don't stop believing....

The best most concise explanation of Maj & Min pentatonic and their applications for soloing that I have seen on KZbin. I've only seen about 1,000 ha ha. All by obviously good and knowledgeable guitar players but, alas they are tediously long winded and confuse the issue with their need to hear themselves talk. Thank you

damn you make clear 100x more about music theory in 10 minute than 100 youtube videos by mouthbreathing idiots , i don't even know what they are talking about. This is pretty cool. What determines what pentatonic to pick? You're using the same shape over all the examples
@andrewclarkeguitar8 ай бұрын
All pentatonic shapes within a key contain the same notes. So you can use any shape you want as long as it's in the correct key. In this case, I just used the position #1 pentatonic shape for everything. But it would work the same for position 2, 3, etc.
@mabblers8 ай бұрын
@@andrewclarkeguitar Thank you. That really. I'm try to get those shapes to sound like music now. 6 months in on my guitar journey, I'm working on caged chords, and getting all the major scales to memory. There's so much to learn with the guitar. I'm trying to get to the point of hearing a song and jamming that song or playing along with it. Great lesson.

What if the key is like F Dorian
@andrewclarkeguitar8 ай бұрын
It works the same way as relative major/minor keys work. If we use mode terminology, C Ionian (major key) is the same as A Aeolian (minor key). The other modes just start at different points in the major scale. C Ionian, has the same notes as D Dorian, E Phrygian, F Lydian, G Mixolydian, A Aeolian, and B Locrian. Each one just starts at a different point in the scale. So for something like F Dorian, the method taught in this video would give you the key of Eb major because the 2nd note of the Eb major scale is F -- giving us F Dorian. Now, there are more (and slightly better) ways to approach and improvise with modes, but this method will still give you the "right answer."

I found this video interesting. 👍🏼 However, the "free download" really isn't 100% free, granted no money, but you want email addresses and people have to "register/open an account" on YOUR web site to actually receive the "free download". I'm not interested in joining your web site. 👎🏼

Bro chill, content creators need to eat too. Most guitar KZbinrs stay in business by selling premium courses, KZbin views just aren’t enough. Just be glad his KZbin videos are complete in and of themselves and not behind a paywall.

Huh, you just need to login with an email or continue with google. Teachable is a platform for content creators to share academic knowledge respective to their own niche. Ive once enrolled for a Beginner Blender 3d course which used the same platform, they even grant you an affiliate status if you recruit others to use your link in enrolling. It's a win win both to both consumers and producers. Plus I've got to defend Andrew, he actually puts out free stuff that really matters in guitar learning. It's in a format that's easy to digest and pleasing to the eyes, unlike books that have convoluted phrasing and unpalatable visual aids. Dont be a hater lmao
