Thanks for the tour Andrew, I too have Pet sounds and agree that it is an amazing album. Infact when my girlfriend and I rated each song it scored higher than any Beatle album! The plastic sleeves issue is one I struggle with too.I have just bought a retro fifties record cabinet and the decision whether to us was made for me as I cant close sliding doors if sleeves on. As well as the Beatles I collect ,the Stones, the Kinks and Elvis Costello so shelf space is at a premium. Just got Keiths Cross Eyed Heart cd for a £5 its amazing.Cheers mate

thank you for your room tour - it was very interesting. I also use record sleeves, but those made of clear polypropylene, which are available for single records and double albums. I also have polyethylene ones, but they are thicker and more milky, you can also use them for triple albums. You need more space on the shelf!, but I think with them you can really protect the records from dust and also protect the cover from everything... since recently I also use record sleeves for boxes. sometimes I think what's the point, because for me the LPs are to listen and to use, not to preserve ... you live with it, so sometimes it seems unnecessary to me with the plastic, but what the heck... take care!

Hi Andrew Thanks for your room tour part 2. You have a very nice set up. Very inventive with the towel thing and the board and spikes.. you have a modest but interesting collection of vinyl.. Is it mainly new releases and re issues you go for? I have the Ikea cubes too. You'll soon have them filled up. (I’m adding this bit as I forgot to say) Yes I use the plastic sleeves. They help to keep them clean and protect them. Depends which type you want to use. The thicker or thinner ones. The ones I use you can still read the spines on the shelves.
@AndrewDixonMusic5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael, on balance I expect I'll keep using the sleeves. Yes new releases and reissues mainly, it's not too often I buy an old used copy of something but I don't mind if I know I can trust it's condition. Far more likely to buy old CDs, I only need one good clean lossless rip of those! 🙂👍

I really enjoyed the room tour. Cool idea for keeping your turntable lid open. "Now Playing" display is also a good one. I use the plastic sleeves for my records. I hope it will prevent ringwear on the cover. But a lot of my older records are not in plastic sleeves - they're already worn out because I've had them forever (or close to.) I'm ready to break out the Christmas records too! Great tour - thanks! ~ Randy

Andrew, thanks for showing us your wonderful record room. I'm also a hugh fan of Monitor Audio and the Bronze series is (especially for it's price) highly recommendable. It competes more expensive floorstanding and bookshelves speakers. I'm also thinking about buying the Rega USB Phono pre-amp. How does it sounds when it comes to detail and such?
@AndrewDixonMusic5 жыл бұрын
Good to hear the Monitor Audios stack up well against others. I certainly have no problem with the detail I get from my records, although how much of it is down to the pre amp and how to the other components I'm sorry I don't know as I'v not compared! Sounds great to me though..... 🙂

I no longer keep my albums in the vinyl sleeves for the same reason you mentioned. Also, I have some double and triple albums and I find that the clear plastic sleeves, when stretched a bit too much, tend to damage some of the corners of the album artwork. So I've ditched these sleeves permanently.
@AndrewDixonMusic4 жыл бұрын
I'm still using mine, not found an alternative that I prefer yet.

Hi Andrew. I’ve only recently found, and subsequently subscribed, to your entertaining, informative and highly watchable channel and have just finished watching Part 2 of your room tour from a year ago! As someone who is heavily into Hi-Fi I’d like to make a few comments on your system. Your Rega turntable is a great choice and ideally suited to your other components. I’m pretty sure the Marantz amplifier is the UK edition model and having owned both I can concur that it’s a cracking amp and holds its own against current much more expensive models. I’ve had a Rega Brio and Rega Elex-r (£900) and there’s really not a lot in it against your Marantz. If you do upgrade my suggestion would be a Rega P2 with your current kit, or if finances allow then possibly a P3. As for your IKEA chopping block, there are many hi end users who use this method so absolutely nothing wrong there! Thanks again for the great videos! Keep up the good work!
@AndrewDixonMusic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter! Since then I have actually upgraded the Rega, I got a P3 just before Christmas with an Audio Technica VM540ML stylus, sounds great! Done a few cable upgrades also.
@petersaint6563 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewDixonMusic A great choice with the P3 and Audio Technica cartridge combination. I now have a P6. Do I regret upgrading from my P3? Yep, totally, as the P3 would have served me well for many years to come!
@AndrewDixonMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@petersaint656 Interesting that you regret what should be a great upgrade. Is the P6 not as a big a step up as you'd have liked?
@petersaint6563 жыл бұрын
@@AndrewDixonMusic Hi Andrew. Sorry I should have elaborated on my previous statement regarding the P6. It is without doubt a great piece of equipment and were I looking to spend the approx £1,200.00 on a turntable again I wouldn’t hesitate in going for the P6. Having been an audiophile for many years I’m now starting to realise the problem of diminishing quality returns on equipment and the improvement sound quality etc against the extra price you pay on an upgrade. For instance, I had a Rega Elex-r amp which I upgraded to a Naim, at a cost to me of approx £400.00. A pair of Dali Oberon 5 speakers which I upgraded to a second hand pair of Spendor S6e’s, which were approx £1,500.00 when new. I can’t honestly say to you that the difference achieved over cost involved is in no way night and day so I’ve decided to stick with what I’ve now got and spend any disposable income on product; Vinyl etc, which would obviously be Beatle or Beatle related deluxe sets for you! Talking of which, that is how I found your channel as I’m wanting to start building a nice collection of them too. I currently have the Beatles in Mono CD box set, the Sgt Pepper Deluxe CD set and a couple of the CD only archive releases, so will be checking out your Beatle sets countdown again in the near future! Going back to Hi-Fi, not sure if you’ve heard of the Audiosciencereview channel? It’s really informative and a total eye opener!
@AndrewDixonMusic3 жыл бұрын
@@petersaint656 Got ya! Yes i understand that diminishing returns concept certainly, even at my modest level of system I'm starting to get in to those realms a little. You've got a good start there with the Beatles stuff, the mono CD box is a beauty, and to be honest you'll be lucky to get the vinyl equivalent now without selling important body parts, I got very lucky there by just getting in before prices started rocketing.
