Swing FAST with your HANDS! And EASY with your BODY!

Swinging FAST with your HANDS and EASY with your body requires very little effort, or extraordinary athletic ability. It’s also not going to cause excessive torque to the joints of your back, hips and knees.
If you find that the HARDER you swing the SHORTER you hit it then you’ll want to watch this video to the very end.
It starts with a concept. One that is very simple! - Don’t make the mistake of conflating SPEED with POWER! Your body is many times stronger than your hands and arms which is why so many golfers choose to OVERPOWER their speed with their STRENGTH!
Unfortunately over using the BODY pacifies the only part of the body that actually touches the club. Your HANDS! Without your hands you have nothing!
Once you learn to EDUCATE your HANDS & ARMS by engaging both ANGULAR & LINEAR Momentum you can use your BODY as a FORCE MULTIPLIER!
Enjoy the Video. I hope it RENEWS your PERSPECTIVE on how to swing the golf club more FREELY. You’re going to create more SPEED than you ever have with LESS EFFORT!
Get after it!

Played in a tournament today with a Senior golfer in his seventies and he hit the ball like Andrew is demonstrating, with a baby draw ( and sneaky long) and it looked effortless! He looked like he was hardly swinging at the ball, such as a body centric swing, but his hands and arms moved quickly. Beautiful thing to behold…thanks Coach. Going to try and save my back, with a little less twisting and faster hand and arm speed. Sure worked for this gentleman. Cheers from Nova Scotia.😅

@@AndrewEmeryGolfHi Andrew just found you on KZbin and really love your teaching style. I use to play to a good standard (3 handicap) I was never long but hit a high slight fade but I knew where it was going. 25 years later I have come back to the game after stopping playing and my swing is a mess ! Lots of hooks, fat shots you name it. I know it’s difficult without seeing my swing but can you suggest anywhere to start, and tip video of yours to dig into. Regards Scott

KZbin is a dark hole that will have your head spinning with multiple swing thoughts many of which may not be relevant for you! I would start with your feet together hitting balls off a tee working on nothing but rhythm and balance! Allow the club to swing freely and do NOT hit at the golf ball. Simply react to targets and be athletic! Avoid multiple swing thoughts!!! The arms swing as the body turns Scott! A good coach no matter who you choose is simply a “Short Cut” is all! I’m happy to get you started with some online lessons or see someone local near you that is NOT a Method Coach! Make sure they find what works for “you!” Sorry I can’t be more specific! Happy you’re back at it mate! That’s great! Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

Probably the best golf advice for the average/senior golfer on KZbin. Please consider a detailed video on your approach to the first move/take away - how do you use your wrists, arms and hands to start the club on plane and achieve depth. Thanks.

For the first time in 4 years and after multiple in person lessons from at least 4 coaches and watching hundreds of videos, I watched Andrew's Lag Paradigm video. My swing now feels natural and comfortable for the fist time and I am hitting the ball further than ever. I have a long way to go but Andrew's teaching is responsible. I wish i had found him a long time ago.

This is a breath of fresh air! I have spent the last ten years trying to start the downswing with the lower body with terrible results. Swinging the club down with fast hands and arms as suggested just seems to work with far better strikes and distance and the body sequences correctly without any effort. It seems to me that golf tuition has concentrated far too much on the body in recent years and this doesn't work for the average golfer who can forget to swing the club! Thanks Andrew

Swing the golf club freely and allow your body to respond naturally to that motion! The trick is allowing the golf ball to be captured in the process - the swing shouldn’t be interrupted by the ball. So much ‘piece meal’ swing instruction on the tube that’s both confusing and any many cases impossible to implement on the golf course! It’s a smooth ‘continuous’ motion - Keep it simple and welcome aboard. Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

After a few of your videos I am seeing light at the end of the tunnel.. This one really helps bring the sequence together. That swish at the bottom is very telling & with so little effort. Andrew that was brilliant, articulate practical and direct, you’re a natural teacher I think. I’ve just recently started working on proper forearm rotation through impact, I’m amazed at how an active body can interfere with proper arms and hand action, it’s not what most coaches tell us 😢 I’ve been using waaaay too much body which is basically more effort for less distance, not too smart and hurts my hip, well not any more, thanks, subscribed 👍

Welcome aboard! It’s neither all hands and arms or all body! I just happen to believe that the vast majority of golfers over use their bodies early!! Most golfers in my opinion would do better ‘feeling’ like their hands and arms are employing their body as they swing through the ball!! It’s shocking how much more speed you get when you do this!! Thanks for the support and kind words. Best, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🙏🏻 P.S Here’s my latest video FYI. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXy7k5JrosZnfa8si=zy7daoikFdfgi5og

Right on, Andrew - the body moves to facilitate the swinging of the arms and release of the wrists. Most people can't get into the positions of the world's best golfers in their 20s and 30s and shouldn't even try. I think one of the reasons the pros from previous eras (through the 70s) seemed to have less back problems is because they didn't twist so extremely and fire their bodies so forcefully.

l bought a net and a hitting mat got it installed and started using it 3 days ago. Of course, by watching so many golf swing KZbin videos l get to experiment and hit balls without the outcome influencing my swing but by feel because we all know what a bad and a good shot is when the club head meets the ball. l have a stocky/muscular build and l find that if l swing just above parallel with both of my elbows tucked close to my body l make the most consistent solid contacts with no heavy digging into the mat because that is my thing taking big divots. l pick the ball clean off the mat with crazy solid contact and this is JUST MY ELBOWS (it feels like it) the pivot. It feels weird but crazy good weird. Having said that my body is really quite through the swing but if l try my normal used swing it screws it up. You just confirm that l am not having a dream lol. Thanks Andrew, your videos makes so much sense to me (and to others clearly). As a cricketer I learned that hand and arm speed came from being able to generate speed in the arms by having a braced floor and core. Now that I’m much older, have been struggling with golf for years because of never understanding what the arms were supposed to do. Thanks v much! P.S. Q: does the same feel apply for all clubs including wedges?

Impressed that you said average players instead of amateur, almost everyone describes a average golfer as amateur, that's not what an amateur golfer is. Arguably the greatest player ever was an amateur, Bobby jones. 13 majors and retired at the age of 28. 4 us opens, won 3 out of 4 entries in British open 41 % win rate all while going MONTHS between majors then winning. Like the message you teach, liked and subbed.

@AndrewEmeryGolf ty, glad to be a passenger, Bobby said many different words were written about golf so hopefully one word would help the student, with visual i thought teaching would get through more . Really like how you teach and you should reach and help a lot of players of all levels. This video was fantastic about the hands, i think thats why some struggle on some days and do well on others if a player learns this they wont have down days. Congrats coach looking forward to the rest of your catalog.

Russ, that’s subjective based on individual preference. For me I feel like I’m widening and pushing with my trail arm into impact to get linear. I was definitely in the slow lane 😅. I kept seeing tips to keep wrists locked and not use them so I was trying to gain all my momentum through the body, and all of my clubs were hitting short. Your video and one other helped explain that the wrist, arms and body all have to work together to get the right momentum, I tried this and hit some of my furthest shots, still need to work on timing everything though. Is it correct to say you want to go into wrist flexion with the lead hand in the backswing and then straighten it up before you make contact?
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 10 ай бұрын
To a point! You’ll likely feel like your lead wrist is flat at the top but you’ll have some flexion! (Feel v Real!) You’ll want to rotate your knuckles down and into flexion at impact and then send that speed into lead wrist extension again as you reset your wrists post impact! Hinge - Unhinge - Re-Hinge! Get after it! Best, Coach A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻
@cdunne1620
@cdunne1620 10 ай бұрын
There’s flexion/extension There’s pronation/supination There’s radial deviation/ ulnar deviation You are asking if you should flex your right wrist through impact. The answer is no in my opinion. Instead you need to supinate your right hand as you go through impact (left knuckles turning down towards the ground or right palm turning down to the ground) ie don’t slap at the ball through impact, roll the hands through impact. Watch Rory in slow motion. What clicked with me is the idea that the forearms make an X-shape after impact at about hip height, anyhow just learn the language and meanings and you will start to understand, good luck

After 23 years of coaching every level of golfer including PGA and LPGA Tour players I’m quietly confident I understand the terminology you mentioned in your comment. 😂 Having said that - I believe the ART of teaching is taking somewhat complex ideas and breaking them down into simple terms - Impressing a student with a library of technical knowledge doesn’t always help them get better in my experience! As far as the “X” you mention in your comment. That’s a salient point and an extremely effective way of fully releasing the club IF you have a neutral grip! That release pattern should also be paired with more glide and less lower body rotation! On the other hand there are plenty of shut face golfers who would play terribly by rotating their forearms the way Rory and Tiger do. These golfers do better releasing their speed into lead wrist extension which stabilized a closed club face. This release pattern also requires a lot of lower body rotation and right side bend offset. I don’t believe there is ONE way of releasing the club effectively. The key to getting results is working with each individual to find a release pattern that works best for them. Bottom line - It’s all about ‘Match Ups!’ I’m glad you found what works for you! Respectfully, Coach A. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️

very good video, what about the theory that if the hips do not open in time the hands will scoop?
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 8 ай бұрын
A golfers ability to get open will always vary. Some more, some less. For most, (trying) to turn the hips causes more trouble than good! For the vast majority of golfers who have neutral grips - getting open or attempting too is a disaster! Fortunately, while it’s preferable to get a little open to provide room for the arms, it’s more important to maintain some depth, and (support) with the pelvis as you swing your hands and arms freely through the ball. Is the club head speed due to the. upper arms moving faster or the hands rotating faster.? And to get faster what exercises can faciltate this?Stronger forearms and wrists or stronger upper arm muscles that get the upper arms moving faster?
@AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 5 ай бұрын
It’s a chain reaction that starts from the ground up William! A sequential movements that culminates with the club meeting peak speed at impact! The point of the video is to illustrate the value of using your hands and arms in the golf swing because so many golfer don’t know how to!! I’ve attached another video which talks about the loading and unpacking motion of the trail arm which is so important! ⬇️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/e33Ge42jq7Gtidksi=JRgWFutCBS8SvI0h I would refer to www.mytpi.com for any golf specific exercises. Squeezing a small foam ball will strengthen your hands and there are numerous exercises you can use to help you strengthen your arms but TPI do a great job of looking at the body holistically for both strength AND mobility for golf! Every “high speed” good golfer I coach with a strong grip generally hits a fade!! They’ve learned how to create linear and angular momentum already! You probably need to release your speed into lead wrist extension rather than rotation. It’s slows the rate of closure and stabilized the club face! It doesn’t however mean that you should be dragging the handle. You just have to match your release pattern to your grip! Here’s a video of an elite Junior I coach who has a very strong grip and hits 300 yard bombs that very rarely hook with an extension release pattern! Cheers! @AndrewEmeryGolf
@AndrewEmeryGolf 9 ай бұрын
I would never dispute science or evidence based studies. I also mention the importance of proficient body dynamics in my videos. I do however believe that trying to hit those “#’s” by getting “open” at impact is the single biggest problem for 85% of golfers who transition spin and drag the handle! Educate your hands and arms first, and then “IF” you have sufficient internal hip mobility you can start to create more lower body rotation at impact! Most golfers start with their body first which is why 85% slice with very little speed! Thanks for the comment! Coach A. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️🙏🏻
