This is the best looking boot they’ve made . I normally like the Michelin rubber but the outsole looks good. Vivo really stepping up.
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
Yea, I feel like the wider lugs are a nice alternative to the ESC, since they're thinner for better ground feel, but also beefy enough to handle pretty much anything.
@Paul9Ай бұрын
These look great. I’ve recently got the new Tracker AT which this is related to and probably my favourite so far. All the best qualities of the Tracker Winter/all weather but usable year round and much more versatile sole than the SG. Interesting to see the Moc is stitched and the regular AT is bonded to the rubber rand. I think it’s due to the issues in the past where the soles coming away when bonded directly to leather.
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
Yea, I'd stoked to test the Leather AT's. Does seem like they fixed the main limitations of the Tracker SG, while keeping it's waterproofing. You're probably right about the stitching vs bonding.

Thanks for the review! Do you know if the leather wraps all the way around the bottom of the foot like a traditional moccasin? or is it a moc moc

They do have a leather footbed and inner lining, but they're separate pieces.

Hey Martin, will you be using it for hiking or mostly urban/pavement?
@martinfahlstrom8155Ай бұрын
@@AndrewFolts Mostly urban. But i ended up taking another advice of yours today and bought a pair Tracker Winter SG from revivo. Little less money and so there for less of a gamble.
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
@@martinfahlstrom8155 I wouldn't use those for urban. The tread's deep and meant for soft ground, so it'll get chewed up on pavement real quick. Magna FG on Revivo would be a better pick.

Hey Andrew would you say these should be good at true size (44) or size up to a 45? I want to run these with the wool soles you recommended
@AndrewFolts5 сағат бұрын
No, they're true to size. Vivo usually runs a bit long, if anything.
@DJSixAxiS51 минут бұрын
@ thank you. Question. AT moc or tracker forest esc?
@AndrewFolts44 минут бұрын
@@DJSixAxiS The upper's are both similar, bit softer and more comfortable, although you have to be more careful not to scratch them. The ESC is more protective but with less ground feel, while the AT has more ground feel but medium protection.

Which boot would you suggest for big bunions? My bunions require a huge toe-box but not overly wide in the heel. I live in Tahoe...a lot of snow, not much rain
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
Sounds like the Realfoot Farmer might be a good pick. It's extra-wide up front, but then slim in the heel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooe7lZKJoauhnq8

Hi Andrew! How would you rate these boots for winter and snow hiking?
@AndrewFolts26 күн бұрын
Hard to know for sure, since it hasn't snowed yet in NY, but I expect they'll be excellent, because the upper is very similar to my Tracker Winter SG's from last year, which were great in the snow. Tread's deep enough that it should proved grip on most wintery conditions, and the wool lining and leather are great for insulation.
@tabin00Ай бұрын
Howdy my friend. Have a question - how do you feel vivo toe box? Is it wide enough? Because on pictures some of their shoes doesn't look wide at all (tracker textile, magna lite, for example). Is the toe box consistent among their models or is it sometimes wider sometimes narrower? Can you compare to altra's lone peaks for example? Or maybe topo's trailventures? PS. Any significant FOLTSYxx discount code coming soon maybe? If you manage to get FOLTSY30 I am buying 6 pairs, no matter the toe box xD
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
Hey there, I'd say it's pretty consistent with other Vivo's. They're wide, but not extra wide. Altra verges on extra wide, but some of their newer styles are getting more narrow. One thing that makes a big difference is material-the Vivo Gobi Boot, for example, has a very soft upper, and so it's almost extra-wide, just because of the stretchiness. A 30% discount off new Vivo's is never going to happen. 10% is always available and 20% is for seasonal sales, like winter right now. I used to love Altra's toebox, and it's a shame they don't make barefoot shoes, because their cushioning is terrible-super mushy. That's how I got plantar fasciitis. Although the trail shoes are a bit more firm. Don't care for Topo at all, they're really clunky.
@anniwilson2534Ай бұрын
Not sure on these … style-wise I’m not keen on that raised ridge, and as you’ve discovered it holds moisture and debris. One for the urban townies, especially with yet another pale sole *sigh*. I’ll stick to my Tracker ESC and Gobi.
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
Yea, idk how you would have a moccasin design and avoid that issue. A mid brown sole would def have been nice. Cream does seem like they meant it more for urban use.
@HokanaMatataАй бұрын

@StanatakАй бұрын
can you tell if the sole is made from more durable rubber than firm ground 2? I've been surprised how fast sole of my decon lows been getting rubbed of - way faster than primus fg
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
Yea, it feels more rugged than the FG2, which had a little less surface area and softer rubber. That said, whenever you experience unusually fast wear, make sure to check for scuffing/twisting in your stride, because that type of abrasion wears a sole down 10x faster.
@StanatakАй бұрын
@@AndrewFolts thank for the info! yeah I thought about that - the stride- but it only is happening with those soles and the problem is nonexistent with any more of my vivos.
@AugmentingLightАй бұрын
The soles on mine are not flat and slightly raised on the balls of the feet. On hard ground feels like standing on a small rock. On grass they feel normal.
@AndrewFoltsАй бұрын
You're likely feeling that denser rubber where the "V" is. They do it because that spot wears faster, but I agree that you can notice it. Using a soft thin insole definitely helps smooth it out.
