I was an engineer at the smoakstack for almost 10 years. Paul has been a great mentor and friend and I run my studio the way I do because of him.
@thewarrendavid Жыл бұрын
Paul was gracious enough to let me intern at the Smoakstack many years ago. Very grateful for that experience and can attest to the excellence of Paul and that studio. That space and the collection of gear is insane.
@hulkslayer626 Жыл бұрын
I could listen to him talk about the history and story behind EVERY! SINGLE! THING! In that place! As mush as i love the music and gear aspect of these videos, i gotta say, hearing the stories behind how people have aquired their gear over the span of decades is just food for the soul to me!

Had the pleasure of recording at many studios in Nashville and the times I've been able to work in Smoakstack have been by far my favorite... instant vibe and energy and Paul is just such a talented and wonderful person. If you'd believe it his space has been this vibey and packed with great gear since I first recorded a song there in 2009! Been waiting for this tour since you started your channel! Also, seeing the space again makes me realize just how much it must have imprinted on me, I've totally done my best to set my (much smaller) space up to feel the way those rooms did without even realizing it, to me this is what peak studio looks like.... Hell, could say the same for how I've decorated the rest of my house 😂

Yo I visited this outside of this place last Saturday, it’s very low key. Berryhill has a vibe I really dig. There is a small park that’s surrounded by music studios it is so chill and it was a transformative experience. I was almost was in tears. Because it was so beautiful to me to see all these studios in one area. I just soak it all in and felt very fortunate to just be around all of them. Because of your videos I wouldn’t have know about this area. (Other than blackbird studio’s because I saw on fuse years ago ) Thank you 🙏 for your videos! 😊

We had a handful of those baby neve sidecars at the TV studio I work. The offline video edit suites used them bascially for monitoring. A couple years after I started here, prolly in 2003-2004 the boss replaced them all with yamaha 01vs.. and the baby NEVEs went away.. I hinted at wanting one.. He played with the bait but didnt take it.. (wanted to have direct outs put into is to use as a drum tracking cosnole) I can only assume there are a couple in the attic or deep storage in this place.. its a huge facility thats been around since the late 50s..
