These are not for cell phone signal. Most phones have a FM radio program. In this case it needs to have the headphone plugged in. The wire is used as an antenna.

Andrew you are taking this completely out of context. The antennas are for FM radio, also you use Bluetooth headphones to stream the radio to your ear. This is a bad example of your understanding of today's technology and its embarrassing for me to know how handy capped your knowledge is on the features that have been out since early 2014 on very cheap tablets.
@beansfoundhere3 жыл бұрын
The others are 100% right in saying that it's used only for FM reception. The internal FM radio is built to use your headphones as an antenna and also your listening device, a 2 for 1 physics value really. These antennas sort of ruin that, and the headphones probably work much better as a dipole for those frequencies.

I've modified some 2.4ghz wifi antennas to increase its strength using your methods and it has really worked very good; thank you!
I added the silver one to the end of my old skool FM stereo antenna and it make a noticeable difference. I used to use these with my S5, I combined 2x of the black ones together with a 3.5mm coupler, been many years but did get some gain with it, very dependant on the phone used, older Nokia and Motorola are best. My Nokia 6275i had a Radio tuner app built-in. they are cheap, but not totally worthless thou, the 4" made a clear difference in my radio reception in the basement area. I tried the stick booster and did some test in the pass, there was a detectable noise clarity in extremely low reception areas 1/4-1 bar difference at times(tested in early 2000's before internet/wifi was here(very low noise area). I still have all the old hardware, maybe I should run some test again to see if any of it still holds or was just errors in testing

Good as always but I was motivated to try and find any source (general dictionary or technical) that differentiates "aerial" and "antenna" on the strict terms of receive only and transmit capable respectively. I failed. I was taught that "aerial" was just the older term still often used in the UK while "antenna" was a more US-originated usage now more generally adopted especially in professional circles. And technically, surely the principle of reciprocity means that if an antenna is good/bad for receive on particular frequencies it will be likewise for transmit on those same frequencies, the only caveat being power handling on transmit.

I think this is one of those thinks that are different across the pond as you’re not the first American to mention this. This is something I was told in my first year at uni and is something that has stuck with me as it kind of makes sense. But my tutor at the time was Russian and he used to claim a lot of things including being related to Starlin on his mum’s side! 😁
@Sparky-vj2dq3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewmcneil I'm not American but was born in the UK in 1955. It was a few years before I was aware of the bits of radios and TVs and it was all aerials then. Even police cars and motorbikes had aerials. I got interested in short wave broadcasting and discovered that the BBC and other such organisations had vast fields of aerials throwing their signals around the planet. Became ham later and the RSGB does prefer antenna. I think there is a little bit of "an aerial is mainly a wire thing maybe quite a lot of wire while an antenna is a more rigid usually self-supporting structure". But agree there is definitely a cultural aspect to it and maybe also the man/woman in the street might prefer aerial while the engineer will nearly always go for antenna..Could make endless points on the semantics but at the end of the day it doesn't matter.
@ramjet40253 жыл бұрын
Andrew, While these antennas you show do not work at Cell Frequencies, they will probably help at FM Radio Frequencies but, would work better if the antenna was connected to the Ear Piece wire which these sellers failed to do, as you pointed out, the antennas are connected to ground and not the FM antenna wire.

How can it work? Has the audio circuit relation with radio frecuency input in a cell phone?
@franzliszt3195 Жыл бұрын
If you know where in the cell phone the antenna is and how long it is, then I would think you could put a couple of passive yagi type director elements, assuring its at the right distance from the antenna, to get a few dBi improvement in the direction you point to. It would seem this is a safety thing and cell phone makers SHOULD sell a product like this if it can be done -- but I rather convinced it can be done. Being stuck in the desert and just out of range, having a few more dBi of yagi in your backpack is a good and potential live saver. I don't think it has to be super complicated.Just clamp the yagi on the right place and point in the right direction that increases signal. Hey, there are plenty of places I can not get a signal in Anaheim Califorina with my Cell. I got to wolk down to the end of the block to got a signal. Is that it? Is this what the best and brightest electron hats can come up with, i.e., NOTHING!

Hello I realise this device is unsuitable however like a lot of people we work mobile in the car a lot of the time and wonder why 4g routers seem to be the only solution suggested for mobile working, to avoid removing sims or a second contract could we not use an external antenna plugged via the usb c and an app to divert from the internal to external antennae? We find using the phone for a hotspot to be more than adequate when we have a signal and would just like to get a greater signal in poor areas. If this is possible would you have any suggestions? Thanks, James.

i think a probable solution would be to use an OTG adapter and plug a 4G usb dongle with external antenna
@igorberezin8563 жыл бұрын
I believe these only work for the FM radio built in not the cell phone reception. There are many mobile phones and laptops that require headphones pugged in to use as antenna. These antennas that you have are a direct replacement for that purpose only! This product are for people that do not have headphones to plug in to the jack to launch the FM radio app. because it wont launch and will ask you to plug in your headphones. This video is completely out of context.

Yes, my mobile phone won't allow me to use its FM Radio function at all unless it detects there is a plug in the earphone jack. For very local stations, just inserting a plug will get me some reception on its internal speaker. But adding a short length of wire vastly improves the signal. Obviously this will not help with the phone's communication capabilities; the sellers are just happy to con those who don't know any better.
