Definitely a sweet boat! Sometimes if it’s too windy it just blows out of control or off course. For the most part it cruises. I love it so much! It’s fun and easy to work on too of there are ever any issues! Great model! Great fun!

That is far more effective than I thought it would be. No real trace of the horrendous weather helm that some suffer from and surprisingly good downwind in spite of the servo problem you spotted. It was making good progress when the weed wasn't snagging it. Of course it did have a very competent helmsman in charge :)

That does look nice and relaxing. I got a ride as a child in a very small (single sail if I recall correctly) dinghy, and the guy taught me about tacking etc., and let me steer a bit. It was wonderful. Well now I have to go out and remove the snow in front of the driveway that the snow plow left for me :) G'day!

She looks great on the water. Might have to wait for the tide to come in so you will have deeper water. All you need now is three small buoys and someone with a similar class boat. Had a little Peapod rc sailboat when I lived in Florida in the 70’s, lot of fun. Cheers

My experience...a boat launch is usually more free of weeds (with folks nearby to retrieve if you need it)....go for deep waters, after a range check (less to foul your rudder and keel)...expo on the rudder is your friend (just as you would have a lighter touch on the helm when you are close hauled). Fun to watch. Thanks!

Thanks mh. I have greased the rudder shaft, switched to a transmitter with Expo, and just waiting for the wind to be right for our local boat ramp. It would be perfect.

ha ha Very nice. Right now to do that I would need to have and ice-boat model LOL.. You are a brave fellow. Knee deep in the ocean, with the weeds and other things after your toes, lol.. I think you are right, the best place is a deep pond, under a shady tree and on a fairly calm day. It was nice you did get some fpv going, and it looked great. I would like to see the camera in the cockpit, so you can watch when you let the sails in and out like in real sailing. Good job. Happy Sailing

The boom appears 180 degrees out. The vang is usually on the bottom, that would make the boom even with the mailsail bottom. I'm going to mod mine to work correctly

Absolutely beautiful! The northern great lakes, Huron, and superior are right by us. Waves can get 1-3 feet high. Could it handle that?

This specific volantex compass is nice because it comes rtr at a price that begs a deal. If the waves don't brake on it, I don't see a problem. Unless there is quite a bit of fisheye on the camera, the booms are flexing, thus changing the shape of the sails. Great video as always very informative.

Great fun! My nearest, potentially sailable, water is the local canal. But I'd need a ten foot hooky stick to retrieve the boat as we have 45deg slimy concrete sides and yeah, a lot of weed too. No, not the stuff people smoke, the pond type.

Well this is 2 years late but generally, the left “throttle” stick would be bringing the sails in and out. More throttle let’s them out, and less brings them in. Then the right stick simplely steers the rudder left and right.

HI Andrew, appreciate the comprehensive setup and review video. Incredibly helpful as I start to explore my first RC sailboat purchase. This is top of my list so far. Have a great "duck pond" near by my home perfectly suited for a boat like this. However, my only concern is the off chance that I get stuck on either some underwater weed or a few rocks piled up and now I have a stranded boat. Do you know of a similar "Ready to sail" boat that also includes a backup propeller incase I need to bring it back to shore sans wind? Unfortunately I can't jump into a real boat to retrieve. Thank you!

I think I also seen some Whiting or other small-ish fish at one stage chasing keep earlier on in clip before the baby shark... Would be nice to trail a cam behind under water to see whats about & curious :D ;) Dad has a small trailer-sailer he rarely gets out, thinking one of these might be perfect for him & the farm dam... I know nothing about RC watercraft, but it looks fairly noob friendly & VolantexRC is a name I feel I can trust thanks to their planes... My only real question is, will spare be available in case of breakages? Thank you once again! :)

Nice! After your previous video I went and had a look at a SARYC IOM (1 meter) race and decided that a smaller boat was not the way to go. So yesterday I ordered a DragonFlite 95 from HobbyWareHouse. Currently on special for AU$418 PNP. Can't wait!

2 new boats arrived, but 1 set of sails missing...... I now have a set of Hurricane sails on order from China , to fit on my first Compass which is now a trimaran. So the first set can go on boat 3... And today I am 68 and confused ....hahaha Its good to have a hobby in the care home

And on the subject of RESCUE BOAT I got a rc RIB model of the sort of support boats they were using for the Americas Cup eg. My plan is to put a mini fisherman with a line and soft hook hanging clear of the prop. But the idea if my catamaran capsizes we just tow it to the beach. ! Masthead floats being not authentic to me. he he

@@AndrewNewton well, at least it is not short, the longer it is, the more stable it should be (I think) the only downside is that you must be in deep water to use it. My golden bright sailboat could use either a longer keel or some more weight because it always makes me think that it water will get to the electronics at such an extreme angle. Mine is supposed to be a 1/25 scale according to what the box says.

It's not unusual, when I'm out sailing my rc boats, for somebody to stop by and ask if I also fly rc airplanes, and how they differ. My reply: "It's been my experience that the boats usually last longer."

Very nice! I have a 1:1 yacht too. On this vid (kzbin.info/www/bejne/inurqodrgpdmbpI), you can see it driving on land, moving on an RC controlled car. (totally scary as an owner btw) , but I did this kind of RC sailing too. It is great fun but I also discovered it is only fun when doing it with at least two persons and race. And we put out some buoys and had lots of fun. But.....in the end...I prefer flying! Keep up the good work!
