Good, clear review stating pros and possible cons. Especially like the clarification that not everyone will have the same room dimensions. Comparing open floor plans, apartments, houses or even basement areas all will be totally different. And the point about the importance of what you put the speakers on mattering alot, something that doesn't get touched on that much, very important point you all brought out. Thanks. Me and the wife were planning on the Fives, but now that we are moving from our apartment to a much larger Condo we plan to go with the Seven's. Sweet Spot all the way.

I guess i should have watch the complete video here before asking my question. So i take it you have to set the TV to stereo and not DD for movies. I do 50/50 so it's a hard decision on what to do. I have one more soundbar to test which is the NEW Polk Magnifi Max AX SR sound bar set up. Just got down with the new JBL bar 1000 with terrible results.

Just got a pair of The Nines. They’re pretty fantastic. Without any adjustments in the app and in my room I think I hear the “cabinet resonance” they are referring to. To my ears it’s more of a congestion in the low mids. I quickly resolved it and even think I’ve found the secret sauce for amazing separation and depth. I actually turned ON the Dynamic Bass EQ, then I set the room config to “corner” which drops the low end 6db. And then did very slight EQ adjustments to taste. Added lots of frequency separation and depth. Almost like a high pass filter in a way.

I agree that Andrew is extremely talented and instantly made me want to listen to him. I subscribed after watching his first review. I even like giving his wife support for her comments. However she deserves equal face time, not just a voice. As credible as this site is with their reviews I always leave wishing we could hear the equipment that is being reviewed. I am searching for a new system and find myself reverting back to the sites where I can see/hear the equipment being reviewed. Some are better than others. I suspect it takes a lot more time to prepare for these reviews but it also provides a more credible review in my opinion. I would rather watch one actual demo than 5 that don't. Regardless, I do appreciate your level of knowledge, presentation style and credibility.

I have owned the fives for a month and was so blown away by them that i bought the nines. My intent with them was to build small stands for them and mimic a smaller version of the heresy iv (in appearance). I have listened to them for about a week now and haven't noticed what you are hearing with them but i will admit this video has made me want to tune in a lot more to see if i notice these things. Andrew and Kristi, thank you so much for this review. I purchased the Nines when they came out and experienced the 'chestiness' you described, despite playing with the speaker placement, and EQ. I wasn't experiencing the same level of excitement many other reviewers were having with the Nines. I even paired with a sub, which slightly improved things (like you said). But it just wasn't right. After your review I returned the Nines for the Sevens and it has been almost a day and night difference. I love them. Cheers to you both!

@@stevethomas2285 I do but then again it’s my first experience of better than tv speaker audio. I have a more complicated music setup but I wanted something separate that just works for tv/movies, I love that it actually has bass and enhanced dialogue feature helps me a lot. Sooo, I pulled the trigger on the Sevens, they arrived two days ago all the way down under. You are right, the clarity is superb. I am hearing detail I never heard with the smaller Audioengine 5+ (with 8” sub). The “immersion” in the sound stage is wonderful and I reaction you would have to go thousands of dollars higher in a separate system to make noticeable gains on the sevens. You are also correct in that all the way up to full volume they don’t distort at all, something the 5+ s would do depending on the recording. Whilst I thought full power would be louder than it is, and despite being quite loud, being realistic even sitting in front of them isn’t fatiguing to the ears (or head!). I hear them very adequately in other parts of the house, way more so that the 5+ s. But of course if you are listening the the sound quality, you are sitting in front of them anyway. I’ll probably upgrade the 8” Audioengine sub for a 10” reference from Klipsch but the bass is really, really good, I’d prefer to sell off the Audioengine as a complete package to mostly fund a Klipsch sub. Unless you think there is a better, similarly priced sub to match the sevens. Thanks for your review, I am glad I took your advice.

I have The Nines in a 16x14 living room and they sound fantastic, they do hit pretty hard but since I don't have The Sevens I am not hearing the differences but I also don't hear that resonance or the impacting on voices you both state in this review. I also am not using dynamic bass, my room is mostly empty as we move back in so we'll have to see how they sound next weekend when we have more furniture and drapes in the windows. All I know is right now, they sound incredible, I have the Klipsch stands coming as well which should help.
@JukeboxAlley Жыл бұрын
Nines all day, NO SUB needed, ordered them factory direct, no complaints, they can be the "endgame" speaker. I haven't heard another powered bookshelf that's even close. The low end is insane for their size and can dig lower than most woofers twice their size, if you don't want the low end, dial it back on the eq, or take boost off, that's what it's there for, but the boost and eq is perfect for listening at 30-50 db because they sound full at any volume level, they don't have to be cranked to throw low end, even in a larger room. If you want to spend extra dough, go ahead and buy the sub, but you most likely won't need one with the nine depending on the room. Hes just trying to help push Klipsch subs (because it makes Klipsch happy) to sale more because nobody needs the subs really at this point when the bookies dig plenty low as they are, unless a very very big room and want to get in the 15-20hz region for movies.
@alexlittig7927 Жыл бұрын
100% agree. while its not super loud these can play 23hz-30hz clean without distortion. If anyone can find me another active speaker that can do that ill be impressed. My phantom 2 can play down to 22hz however its not clean below 30hz and its only in specific locations in my room.

Get the Q900B. I have a set of Q900B, Q900C, the Nines, the Fives( pc use paired with Martin Logan Dynamo 600x Sub). I like listening to music on the Q990B/C more than on the Fives 100% even with the sub paired to the FIVES. Without the Sub, forget it. However, if you room is very small, I would get the Fives over the Q900B. Don't get the Bose 900 without the Sub, it sounds very hollow. I had the Bose 900 before returning it for the Q900B. The Bose 900 ( ran through 2 sets) had constant disconnecting issues with the Bose surround speakers. Anyway, the Q990B sounds better than the Bose 900 with 2 bose surrounds and the sub that costs way more than the Q990B. The drivers on the Q990B/C are small, but they sound absolutely amazing. When I listen to Atmos music on my Apple tv 4k, I enjoy it on the Q900B/C more than on the Nines. For stereo music, I pick the Nines over the Q990B/C.

You need to choose the ,,good,, and well engineered actives out there (Neumann, Genelec, ATC, ME Geithain etc) and not this Klipsch - Passives are not in general better or have more performance, most people just didnt know Actives and think a big Amplifier & Gear Rack sound better than inbuild Amplifiers. Good Actives are not like this Klipsch where they bought 0815 China Amplifier and put it in a Box. People like to stick to the known stuff, i understand that, but specially a Genelec or Neumann Setup is such an powerful product with their room correction. Cant compare a Klipsch to that

Thanks for a great review. I'm so glad i saw this, as I'm going to audition the Nines next week, and hadn't even thought to compare them to the 7's as I really do belomng to the Big is Better old school of audio - however i will truly compare the 2 and hopefully update here with my opinions. I mostly listen to classical and jazz music so its mostly acoustic instruments that interest me. I've never heard a Klipsch speaker before, but what interests me to audition them is, as a front row audience concert attender from the reviews I've read it sounds like Klipsch might be able to reproduce that front row dynamic better, where you can almost feel the vibes of the music - so i'm hoping that the very dynamic transient response might recreate the feel of live music in a concert hall. Previously I had thought that Magnepan or an electrostatic speaker might be best for classical - but i just have a feeling if you want a concert hall feel in your listening room you need a dynamically exciting speaker rather than a refined one - im reall excited to find out!

The Fives are a smart buy right now since they are only about $500, which is a great value for what you get. But I had a feeling the Sevens would be worth the upgrade and you seem to have confirmed that. Just a lot more of a good thing that my room could benefit from and I know I would appreciate. I think Klipsch engineers have hit a home run with this line. I already was thinking that the Nines are just too big for my basement man cave. (Their massive height won't fit under my cabinets.) Oooh, I am upgrading my Audioengine 5+ wireless and sub. I use them just for music, A great little system but just fall short when pumped up loud. You’re review is awesome, was so hung up trying to work out whether to go 7s or 9s. Now I am leaning toward the 7s and keeping the audio engine sub for that extra bit of low freq response. But, I mostly listen to rock and country so haven’t totally decided yet!!!

How do the sevens and nines compare to KEF R3's?
@kenrickhadley44994 ай бұрын
Andrew, after listening to your reviews i know i will LOVE something. I love when you ask Kristi, what did you think. Kristi is that whisper is the back of your heart, that voice of reason that is saying, will i really, REALLY LOVE THEM? I know your friend Caleb on his channel loved the nines, and many people will think, if The Sevens are great, The Nines has to be heavenly. We all know in the real world bigger is not always better in everything, like bigger Debt, Bigger Mortgage, Bigger headache, Bigger STEAK, Hey wait a minute.
@PhilOrth Жыл бұрын
If you all had a choice, would you pick the nines or ls50’s with a nice amp? I know budget wise the ls50’s will be more expensive but would it be worth it?

I'm consuming content about speakers and a little stuck. Looking at the Sevens, but also definitely not opposed to seperate amplifier and speakers. What would you guys or people in the comments recommend- the sevens or a pair of RP600m/iis, RP6000f or Polk audio R200s paired with the Emotiva BasX A2 amp and Blue sound node N130. I know the price difference is a lot but I dont want to get the sevens and feel like im miwsing out. I should note that Ive bought an RSL speedwoofer 12s sub to pair with whatever I get.

Have the Fives… and do love them, but never thought their low-volume performance was great; they really need to be at or above medium volume to sound their best. So glad to hear the Sevens get this kind of review, and the honesty about the Nines, which I also would have instinctually leaned towards. If/when I am ready to upgrade my home office setting, I will definitely lean towards replacing my Fives with the Sevens! 👍

Any issues with the fives shutting off on their own? Or issue with them connecting to tv? I’ve been hesitating buying them as I’ve seen a lot of complaints. Wondering if the issue has been fixed with the sevens.

Very informative. I recently purchased the 5's with Black Label Sub-100 SW and the sound is awesome! Mind you this set up is in a 1 bedroom 600sq. apartment! I noticed the price gap between the 5's and 7's is quite a lot but only slightly more for the 9's and the 7's. Hmmm...

Another amazing speaker for the money are the Airpulse A300 Pro, they rock. I don’t think you can build a better passive sistem even at double the price. I have even tested the small Airpulse A80 against Dynaudio Evoke 50 + Moon Ace at a friends house and we were shocked (except the spl headroom and bass extention obviousely), the Airpulse sound so good. A300 pro are in another league from top to bottom compaired to the small A80.

I have the A300 (non Pro) with a Google Chromecast Audio as a main source. I'm moving abroad and I'm wondering if I should ship them or sell them and get the Sevens. What are your thoughts?
@ionescugeorge20036 ай бұрын
@@DJ-ex4hd I think Airpulse might sound better. Keep in mind A300 Pro sounds better than A300, while having better conectivity and more headroom. They are just more refined, more mature sounding, more realistic. I also find them much better using Coax than Optical with Wiim Pro streamer.

Thanks for the straight up, honest review that we always get from you and Kristi. I was tempted to pull the trigger on getting a set of the Nines and am glad after this review that I didn’t do that. The Sevens appear to be a reworked and improved version of the Sixes. I’ve had a pair of the Sixes for the last two years and really like them. For now it looks like sticking with the Sixes would be the best option for my wallet and keeping the wife happy. Thanks again for a great review.

actually i want to buy the sevens walnut speakers for my at-lpw40wn walnut turntable. it can look amazing !!! and also sound great. but, the sevens have analog to digital pre amp and amplifier. i am new to this, but as i understand. the whole point is to keep the system analog. as it is now, i have an analog to digital converter (stereo, up to 96hrz sampling rate) and the turntable is connected to my q900a Samsung surround system. (rca to optical) so what is the point of getting the sevens ? do you have any suggestions or some new information that i am missing ? thanks.

How would you compare the Klipsch with the EdifierS3000 Pro? The two speakers are connected wirelessly and i suspect the pair came with individual amplifier for each speaker. I am looking for a set of powered speakers and i am down to the Sevens and the Edifier.

How would you rate streaming music from different sources and apps? Say Apple Music from the app via Roku Ultra to tv then arc to receiver. Or using an Alexa device via Bluetooth to receiver. Or Apple TV device ? How much difference is there in audio quality between these type of sources.

I bought the prior gen “the Sixes” on close out when they released the fives. I got them for 400 or 500 which seemed like a streak at the time. The power the bass response it was quite a fun speaker. Not a refined sound but for the $ quite a fun sound. I ended up getting rid of them but I’m sure the new series from Klipsch are enjoyable

Great review and, yes, the Sevens, as shown in your video, are simply gorgeous and looks matter too. On the other hand, I'm not yet ready for powered speakers, over 2 grand if adding a sub can get very decent speakers and amp and the choice to add and replace and then change/improve the sound. It would be interesting to see if Klipsch will improve the cabinet of the Nines and reduce the resonance of low frequencies.

With the Fives you have to download some files and plug the thumb drive into the speaker. Do you have to do the same with the Sevens and Nines?
@thomaskahalepuna9604 Жыл бұрын
I am so happy you made this as I’m getting ready to buy something for a medium sized room . Music is first, then TV just for intelligibility. I had a feeling the sevens would be better, Klipsch can’t help themselves. With an 8” driver they had an opportunity to make something really special, but they just use the potential to make a frat party speaker. I was afraid Klipsch wouldn’t high pass the speaker with a sub but Klipsch finally sent me a response explaining they do. I don’t know why they would not advertise that as it’s a really big deal. ANDREW!!!!! Would you use a SVE sealed sub or the new Klipsch subs that are slot ported? As I said Klipsch can’t help themselves and I’m afraid the Klipsch would be boomy , more HT worthy instead of fast and musical.

I got a pair of Klipsch Nines connected to the TV when using Spotify through HDMI everything sounds terrific but I have noticed that volumes decreases when using Netflix or Max app, I wonder why this happens. It's due the fact that I don't have a subwwofer to bypass low frequencies? thanks!

Connecting a WiFi streamer on one of the digital input it would be interesting to know if the speakers wake up and auto-sense the signal and switches the input automatically. Doing so it would make them an airplay 2 enabled solution without having to switch on and select the source. With vinyl it’s less an issue as you have to come around and manually place the disc. Switching input can be part of the ritual and even make the knobs somewhat useful. For streaming that would be essential as far as I’m concerned.

I have been running the Fives as a sound bar for several years and I want to upgrade to the Sevens. The only problem is that I will need to turn the Sevens horizontal on stands. My listening distance is about 13 feet from the speakers and the speakers will be placed under my wall mounted 85 inch Sony TV. Will they sound okay mounted horizontally ?
@robertswain278 Жыл бұрын
Did you fill your Solidsteel speaker stands with anything? Also for the sevens I assume the SS-7 at ~72cm (28 inches) are preferred given Klipsch recommends their 28-inch KS-28 stands, and the SS-6 for the nines in place of the KS-24, right?
