Perfect intro, perfect review, and perfect speaker. For me their an endgame set and all anybody could really want, after 200 or so speakers later, I bought these new from Klipsch in walnut. The low end is insanely good, top end is not the traditional Klipsch, it's very very good, the midrange is fine, just bump it up a few notches and drop the treble a couple notches, for low level listening I keep the bass at +4, and 0 on mid and -2 on treble, probably because I'm use to British speakers, anyway your right you can make them sound almost any way you want them too, and they can get LOUD if your into that. Here's a tip for you and others, that sub button on the remote, if you hold it down for 3 seconds you can turn the bass boost on or off without the app at anytime, also if you want even more low end for low level listeners, fear not, it's there, kind of hard to find at first, go to settings and room placement and put them "on the wall" position and there's no bass reduction instead of the others -3 db etc, some may find it to be a little too much depending on the room, they are the perfect speaker in my book. To sum it up, I'd take them over, 4312, L100, hpm-100s, ar3as, LS3/5a and blah blah blah I've had em, doesn't matter these win overall, got these and that's a wrap.

I have the Klipsch Fives, upgraded to the nines and moved the fives to the bedroom. The Nines are incredible and I find they are all things for me. I have had separates in the past, but I love the convenience, and most importantly I love the soundstage and the incredibly addictive base. The run rings around the Fives, however they also dissect mids and highs much more competently. Overall The best all rounder hifi system I have owned.
@JukeboxAlley Жыл бұрын
I also bought them new, and can back that claim up also, and I'm pretty picky and will break a speakers weaknesses down quick. They've put a beating from top to bottom on about anything I've had in my room, I couldn't have summed it up any better than you did, my thoughts exactly. Their literally endgame material, and one could call it a day if wanted. Best bang for the buck in my opinion, maybe my best purchase I've made, even at retail price.

Demoed The Fives over a month ago and couldn't believe how much bass, clarity & soundstage they had for such a small powered speaker. They didn't distort at all at high volume during the demo either. I was expecting to be a little underwhelmed but they blew me away. Got a demo of The Sevens & Nines lined up in a couple weeks and I cannot wait. I'm glad you mentioned The Nine's cabinet resonance as it's been mentioned by others. From what I've heard so far I'm guessing The Sevens with a sub will be the sweet spot for me. They're supposedly better braced internally. But I hope they do a Mk-II of The Nines in a couple years with more cabinet bracing and different grill colour options. Not a fan of the cream variant grill with the walnut pair so I'm probably going to ask if I can order walnut finish with the black pair's grills, if I get them. Looking forward to your Sevens review.

That's what Andrew says anyway, I have the 9s and I haven't heard the 7s, but I'd prefer the extra horsepower of the 9s because they virtually have no weakness and you won't need a subwoofer period, unless in a very very large room. You'll have to make your choice though, everybody is different I suppose.

I had the fives as well hooked to my 77 inch oled with a speedwoofer 10S mkii. I really liked them and wanted something a bit bigger and more powerful. I was going to get the nines but after reading that they are more geared toward music only I decided on the sevens. I gotta say the sevens are fantastic, they sound great with both music and movies and games. They are alot bigger than the fives and have mounting holes on the bottom. I bought the klipsch KS series stands and being able to bolt the sevens down is great for peace of mind. I personally think the sevens are the best all arounders!!!😅😅
@diamondbracelette Жыл бұрын
Not contesting your take on the Fives, but what do you consider audiophile in this case? Or rather, what would you describe is lacking with the Fives in the audiophile dept? I've enjoyed them for a couple years and have been able to get better performance with both an external DAC and preamp, which I know is unusual for using powered speakers.. Edit: oh and subwoofer(s) help too
@JukeboxAlley Жыл бұрын

@@diamondbracelettehi, i'm no audiophile, but in the last couple of years have start to grow on me this "audiophillish" obsession. In a matter of fact, it's start with the fives. I have them and enjoy them for over a year, and still miss them. Such a fun and dynamic presentation, we dance a lot less in this house since they're gone. But in the end, the mids never convince me. First, the dialogues on movies never were clear enough, and with music always remain a little muddines. They get a lot better on that department after adding a subwoofer, but the voices remain kind of boxed in and lacking body. Hearing sennheiser headphones and wharfedale speakers, i couldn't comming back to the fives I can said, in my experience, that in the mids they're far from an audiophile presentation.

@JukeboxAlley Жыл бұрын
Just buy a backup amp from the factory just in case, it's no different than having to have vintage amps repaired and some you can't even find parts for anymore and cost a fortune to fix. The built in amps could last 20 years, maybe 2, who knows, the fives and even some powered subs are still kickin 20-30 years later, who knows. If all goes south, just turn em into passive speakers.

I relate to your comment about the Nine's sounding "fun". I've owned the Klipsch Heresy IIIs not once, not twice, but three times in the past ten years because they were the most fun speakers I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot of speakers, some more expensive over the past 30 years). I can see where the Nines can provide that fun factor due to a combination of clarity and dynamic punch Klipsch speakers excel at in general. Most ,,audiophiles,, only know the knowdays mainstrem crap like the klipsch, who bought cheap Plateamps straight out of china and stuff them into an box without any claim to look and tweak the specs. And Master and Slave concepts are also for me a no-go. I hear with (Pro)Actives + DAC since many many years and Stuff like a Neumann, ATC, Unity Audio, Genelec and so on are far beyond the passive stuff i heard even passives priced 5x as much. The trend in the past years is that the ,,consumer,, hifi brands (aka the mainstream) more and more jumps on the active train and build these allinone boxes wich (are for me) the complete opposite what Actives should represent.

I don't have a great deal of experience with powered/active speakers, but I've been considering them to replace the clutter of my bedroom 2 channel system. Also, thank you for the insane amount of content you upload!

With a sub, they sound quite good I think. Just no EQ, unless you run your inputs through an external EQ.

Could someone shed light on htmi arc? Which dac is getting used? Is it the dac inside source ie TV or the dac inside the receiver/Amp?

Does it beat the SVS? I like my Monolith MM-5R with ribbon tweeter. The 9's have competition.

How would you compare these with Magnat Transpuls 800A? Both are similar in design.

9s are not in my budget but thinking of the 5s but I'm worried about Klipsch reliability. I just had my 2nd set of klipsch pro media 2.1 die on me right channel went bad and last year I replaced the control pod, my 2nd set only lasted 2yrs. I wonder how much they discount the 5s when Klipsch decides to run a sale?
